Thank you.....

Thank you all so, so much for you encouraging words, I'm overwhelmed by your kindness. It's not always smooth sailing being a parent, it can be even more of a challenge, when your child is Extra Special.

I'm not always as patient or understanding as I should be, meltdowns can be exhausting, for both child and parent, it's easy to loose you patience when you're tired! I try as much as I can to see the world through my daughters' eyes, this has got easier the more I understand about the challenges she faces.

I don't feel like I can say too much here, I need to respect both my daughters privacy, after all I've chosen to write this blog, not them!
I've been contacted by some of you who also walk a similar path, thank you. I will be in touch soon.

Little Bea has now put an order in for a cushion! When I crocheted the squares together I rather liked the 'wrong' side, so might do this on my new cushion! I loved the raised edges!

And I actually enjoyed sewing in the ends!!!!! It took forever but was very therapeutic, perhaps I just like boring things! I rather like Mr Bea and he can be boring at times!!!! (Sorry Mr Bea, but you can be!) These ends have been sent to Little Beas school, waste not, want not!

I've been given two awards, a couple of weeks ago now, sorry Ladies, I've not forgotten and will answer your questions soon, promise! I've also received the first of my swaps so will share pictures later in the week! I've been commissioned to do another of my Printers Trays so will be busy completing that, as well as doing some more of my quilt......so many things.....wish I could squeeze more hours into the day!

I've been left a couple of comments from, well let's just say, an 'unsavoury' website. Usually they go straight into my spam and I delete these. This person was very clever and disguised themselves very well! However they have said they will link my site to theirs, I think the people who access their site might be quite disappointed with mine, if you know what I mean! I know this has cause some real problems for other bloggers and they have felt they have had to shut down their blog.

Thank you all again, you are a fantastic, creative community!

A Daughters Gift.....

Each stitch has been made with love, hours of emotion have been poured into this gift. I've loved making it for my Daughter, I want to make her something each and every birthday, for as long as I am able.

It's not perfect, but it doesn't have to be, life's not perfect. I'll be wrapping her presents later, she never asks for much, so sometimes it's hard to know what to buy.

There are some gifts I would love to give her.

I would love to give her the gift of bravery, so she doesn't shy away from life, so she isn't fearful of new experiences......but then perhaps she is brave, perhaps she's the bravest person I know to cope with each day in the way she does.

I'd like to be able to turn down her senses, just a little. Just so sounds weren't quite so loud, smells not so strong, and touch not quite so alarming. I'd like her to be able go through each day without her body telling her to be on alert, to be wary, to be geared up for fight.

I'd love to give her the gift of interpretation, so she truly understands how people act and think. Then she would know how much we love her, how funny her friends think she is, and how much they like being with her.

I'd like her to see what we see, a funny, quirky, beautiful, intelligent girl. Difference is good, difference is what stops us from being boring, but difference can also make things difficult.

So this is my gift to her, but it's only a little of what I'd really love to give her.

And this is what she made me, a book cover, made even more special, by the fact that I know using the sewing machine would have hurt her ears. She's going to show me how to make one, she thinks it would be good to learn to sew, can I help her? Of course I can.....

Plan and Precision....

To be honest, I'm not good at either of these!

After your fantastic comments on my Procrastination (which I am good at!) a Plan started to form in my mind.

I love squares (hate trying to get them to fit together!) and I love white (I love it in my crochet cushion, not too keen on the snow now though, bored with it!).

So I thought, my quilt will be made up of blocks of squares, surrounded with white, to calm it down, give it some definition.

So I'm choosing vintage and new, mixing it up, as I said. Unfortunately, I'm not great at the Precision bit, yikes, all those corners to line up...I will never get finished, or started for that manner!

So armed with tutorial I had a go at '2-for-1 Nine patch', yes didn't mean too much to me either!

Mixed results I must say, which I'm putting down to the fact I haven't got one of those quilt ruler thingys, not my lack of Precision! Actually, I'm using a narrow ruler and it's not really holding the fabric still enough to get a good cut. I do think it will be a really good way for me to put them together, once I've practiced more, who knows I might have a go at other patterns!

Want to see?

Not so good....

Bit better......still not giving Molly Flanders a 'run for her money' though!

Must get one of those proper ruler thingys!

These fabrics next I think......

I've got a really busy few days coming up, Eldest Bea has a birthday and I'm trying to get her crochet cushion finished. I have discussed with her the possibility it won't be, she told me not to worry. Some empathy perhaps developing for a mothers plight? No! She is making me a fabric covered notebook in her textile class, apparently I should have had it for my birthday (December!).

Welcome to those who are now following Vintage Sheet Addict, and thank you for your comments, I'll try and pop over to your blogs soon!

Don't forget I've got 15% off everything in my Etsy shop, just type WINTER15 at the checkout!

I'm sure there was something else I should have mentioned, but as I don't plan my posts.........if I remember later I'll pop it on, hope it's not something important!

Bye for now!

Procrastinating.......

I can't settle, I can't decide, I keep putting it off.......

These fabrics have been scattered around, old and new, like I said.....mixing it up a bit. I want to make a quilt using these, but

How

Do

You

Decide?

I love the colours, I love the patterns.....I just can't decide? (I'm also putting off the cutting them out!)

So I'll just carry on here.....

I like the white, although there was no more DK left only 4 ply so it looks a bit different but ok, crocheting with 4 ply feels odd though! Like trying to crochet a cloud!

Or Snow.......

It looks so beautiful but causes chaos, we are snowed in today, no school, no work....just playing, crafting and music making....oh and a walk in the snow later, if it stops!!!

So how do you decide on a quilt? Do you spread out your fabric stash hoping for inspiration? Do you keep putting it off? Or is it just me and my muddled head? Is anyone else full of ideas but finding it hard just to GET ON WITH IT!!!!!

Back later in the week, I wonder if I will have finished (or even started!) anything......

Parcels in the Post and Beautiful Blogs......

I LOVE Parcels in the Post, don't you? Especially when they arrive in polka dots! Would you like to have a look inside? Of course you do, you're as nosy as I am!

Some lovely yarny goods from Lisa at Bobo Bun, when I saw she had a sale in her Etsy shop I thought, why not.......a few days later a little pin cushion, that looks good enough to eat (might give me indigestion though!) and the sweetest little hat for boiled eggs, arrived!
Most of you will already know her Beautiful Blog but if you don't it's well worth a visit! Thank you Lisa for these little lovelies!

Now, I'm getting a bit of a taste for Liberty Prints at the moment, remember these?

Well I also noticed Messy Jessy had a sale on....so what's a girl to do?

Order some more of course! I'm going to enjoy putting these with my vintage sheets! They are delicious aren't they!

I've also had a little parcel from Oooh Betty, no I'm not being greedy, this one is a pressie so I can't show at the moment, but will reveal soon (little clue, it's something in a box!)....But I can show you these that came with it, little peg dolls...

Little Bea nabbed these.....

Now as you know, I'm getting into this.......

And, as I had a little free time yesterday, I decided to have my Bunny Mummy Day! It was actually only a couple of hours, but what lovely hours they were.........

Plenty of tea, bit of music, and lots of crochet inspiration! Jackie truly has a Beautiful Blog! There's not just crochet, as lovely as that is, but nature, crafts, camping (I love camping!), gardening, cooking....the list goes on! I read it right from the beginning, it's great to see how someone's blog grows and develops. Please visit and see for yourself!

Hello to all of those who have just found Vintage Sheet Addict, thank you for visiting!

Don't forget I'm having a Winter sale in my Etsy shop, 15% off, just put WINTER15 at checkout, if you mention you read my blog, I'll pop a bit extra in! I've listed my vintage sheets and pillowcases. If put a 'Pick Your Own' fabric bundle listing on too! You pick, I mix!

Hooked on Hooky!

It's an amazing thing.......

Little circles get bigger......

Then, as if by magic, they turn into squares.....

Do you realise you are witnessing the birth of a new addiction??

I love hooking into the spaces, I'm not so keen at hooking into the chains, that requires more thought, and the ability to count....I've never been very good at Maths!

I'm thinking of popping another row on these, white perhaps?

Cushion? I think so......(you can never have too many cushions!)

Then I need to work out.....how the heck to join them together!!!

The colours, the possibilities, I'm giddy just thinking about it! Yes, i love my my new addiction, (as long as its hooking into the spaces that is!).

It's very, very cold here today, the trees look spectacular all covered in white but it's sooooo slippery! Hope those of you in the UK are keeping warm!

Bye for now,

Ada :) x

p.s. Etsy news, fabric listed although the photos aren't as good as I had hoped. Ive put a 15% coupon on until the end of January, we all need some little treats to get us through January, don't you think! Just type in WINTER15 at checkout! :) x

Forgotten Friends......

In my quest for all things vintage, I've forgotten some old friends....

That will never do!

So this year, I'm going to mix it up a bit, the vintage with the new, just a little you understand!

I've treated myself to Mollie Makes subscription, these came with it, some lovely Liberty prints.....

Beautiful colours....

My heart belongs to vintage sheets......but I'm going to mix it up a bit, you don't mind, do you?!!!

Finding these in the back of the cupboard made me remember how much I loved Polka Dots, I need to do something with Polka Dots!

I've been practising my stitches, just to get the hang of cotton yarn and a smaller hook, mixed results......I'm doing something wrong at the end and beginning of the rows! (actually in the middle too!) I'm in no rush....Rome wasn't built in a day, I will get there in the end.

Little Bea has brought Alphonts home this weekend from school. You have to make him something, we made him a little bag and Little Bea drew a little picture to put in it! I'm glad we got him early on, think it might get harder and harder to know what to make!

Thank you all SO MUCH for all your wonderful comments on my blanket, I really want to get the hang of this Hooky Business, all those wonderful colourful yarns.....sends me giddy!

This weekend has been a bit of family, a bit of friends, a bit of crafty, now we must do a bit of homework, I think schools should introduce a 'weekend homework' ban!

Back later in the week, had Parcels in the Post, will share!

Welcome to all my new friends, thanks for stopping by, don't feel shy, leave me a comment, I'd love to here from you......

Ada :) x

p.s. Etsy news, fabric will be listed this week! :)

Fabric and pillowcases now listed! :) x

(well, I can't do a fabric post and not have some vintage sheets in there, can I!?)
