When I was a little girl I used to visit my Grandma, the Ada Bea one, with my Mum. She lived in the town next to our village so it meant a bus ride. If I was really lucky we got to ride on the top deck, right up at the front, although I think we were mainly seated downstairs near the door. Two young children and shopping bags, you look to make your life as easy as possible, when you're a busy Mum!
The bus stop was quite a walk away, for little legs anyway! One winter I can remember it being bitterly cold, the wind battered us and to add insult to injury, it was raining. I must have been moaning, perhaps crying, actually probably crying, I hate cold rain.....
Anyway, I can remember my Mum, not telling me off, but asking me to pretend. To pretend I was in front of our open fire, sat on the rug warming up my feet, drinking hot chocolate, with marshmallows in. So I did, and you know what? It worked! I can distinctly remember feeling warmer, magic?! The power of the mind!
I tried this technique outside school yesterday as I was waiting for Little Bea. The wind was bitter, thankfully it wasn't raining! And you know what? IT DIDN'T WORK! Why, oh why, is my child ALWAYS the last child to come out of school?
Anyway, I'm still pretending, I'm pretending its Spring, I'm pretending the sun is shining and it's a little bit warmer. I'm wrapping myself up in my vintage sheets, it's actually summer in there! It's warm, just lovely!
I've been playing, taking ridiculous photos, but enjoying myself? Eldest asked me why I was folding up pillowcases and taking photos of them, why indeed! Isn't it a sensible thing to do?! Unfortunately my body doesn't cope very well with extreme temperatures, and I'm feeling not at my best! Anyway I moan no more.....
I've been enjoying wrapping up parcels......
Opening parcels, I'm afraid I've jumped on the washi bandwagon, aren't they divine, I think this little pile might grow. I'm blaming
Bee, she wrote a lovely post about what to do with washi tape....set me off! Anyway, I'm sure I will do something wonderful
with these! Thanks for the inspiration Bee!
I'm also enjoying putting some Easter decorations together...
Polystyrene eggs 75p
Liberty scraps £1.20
Vintage basket 50p
I think that's a bargain! Makes me feel better straight away!
I might not be back this week, I'm very busy and if the weather holds, Mr Bea and I are off for a lovely weekend, just us! The first time we've been anywhere without the girls in twelve years! I hope it doesn't snow, a cottage in Derbyshire.....just hope we get there!!!!
Bye for now!
Ada :) x
