<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
A lot has been changing here since I last posted in September. Mind-shifting, life altering changes. Last summer was the most difficult period I've ever experienced, watching my daughter being eaten by an anxiety monster was horrendous. There were times I though I wasn't going to make it, but I did. Things have gotten easier, and my daughter has just started to access some specialist support.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
During our lowest point, I did think that maybe I wouldn't make it, my heart would stop from the stress. Dramatic I know, but that's just how I felt. Some nights we never got any sleep. On the nights I did sleep, I wondered if I would wake up. I though about what would happen if I wasn't there, how my husband would cope caring for out two very complicated girls. I wrote a mental list of all those wonderful women I have in my life, and what roles they could take over, the parts they could play in helping my girls to become adults. I can't believe I'm writing this, but it's truly how I felt.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I also thought about our home, and how much stuff I had around me, it started to suffocate me, stress and stuff I now know, is not a healthy combination for me. All this happened around the same time I came across the book I mentioned in my last post, Simple Matters by Erin Boyle. She and her family live very simply, in a tiny apartment in New York. As I read the book, I started to understand what I needed to do, and I started to reach out to a new way, a simple way in which to live my life. I also came across more people living a simpler life, and sharing the benefits of their new lifestyle.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Since September, our home has undergone a transformation. Every room, cupboard, drawer has been decluttered. I've been ruthless, I've got rid of at least 60% of our stuff. Everyone has benefitted from this, not just myself. We now only have the things that we love on display, and we only have things that we use in our cupboards. A cellar that was full to the ceiling of stuff, now only has a few boxes of useful things. I've got rid of drawers and cupboards, because we no longer need them. We have lots more space now to breathe.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
We not only have more space, but time too, cleaning and caring for our home takes a lot less time and energy now. Can you remember the Half Hour Allotment book that I used to change the way I gardened? Well I'm adopting the same principles in my home too, little focused chunks of cleaning and clearing. Very manageable. Not overwhelming. Brilliant.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Sorting through our stuff has also made us look at the way we shop, being mindful of how and why we might purchase something. We are looking also at the amount of waste we produce, and plasticwe consume. It's a whole new path we are on. I say we, it did start out as just me, but slowly my husband is joining in, the girls have been fantastic at letting go of stuff. They are finding the waste thing more difficult. Little steps, I'm trying to take things gently with them, after all they are genetically programmed to resist change. We are even changing what we eat, and loosing weight as a result.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So you could say I'm no longer a Vintage Sheet Addict. I've yet to clear out my studio, it's my last job to do, but you know, I no longer feel the need to hoard things. So I will keep enough fabric so I can do a few projects and the rest will go. None of this has been hard, even sentimental things, if it's not something I love, has gone. I've shed some tears as I've been sorting, but then I've let go. It's been very cathartic, liberating.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
But now for something more difficult. Letting go of this blog. Vintage Sheet Addict is no longer relevant to my life, it doesn't reflect who I am anymore. I would love to share my new life with you, and I've tried my best to start a new blog, but no matter how hard I try, I've just not got the intelligence, or computer awareness to create a new one, everything fails. This post has taken ages, I'm not even sure this will publish.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It's very important to me that my blog reflects my life, and is visually pleasing to me. I can no longer access any of my new images, and I can't even set up a new blog through blogger. Every avenue I take has a block. I'm a big believer in fate, so perhaps it isn't the right time for me to blog anymore. I hope I can again one day, but it has to be simple and not stressful. That Blogsy App was fab, but no longer working ;)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So I say goodbye, and thank you for your friendship and support. I will keep trying, and if ever I do manage to set one up I will pop a link on here. I am still on Instagram but not as much as before. I'm<br />
happy_little_plot should anyone wish to find me, I know not many of you use IG. I'm so glad I've been able to get back on here, one of my biggest regrets was not to say a proper goodbye, and let you that I was doing just fine.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Sending my love,<br />
<br />
<br />

Hello, it's been a while.</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
I've been unable to post anything on here after I updated my iPad and my Bloggsy app no longer worked. I'm trying this new Blogger app, but I'm not convinced it will work.</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I will keep this post short, and see if this works. If it does, I will pop back later in the week and let you know what's been happening, big changes have been occurring, and it all started with a book, Simple Matters by Erin Boyle. I've managed to upload a photo but it's teeny tiny :(</div>

<div>
I can't thank you enough for your kind, supportive words, they have meant an awful lot to me.</div>

Anyway, lets see if this works!</div>

All I can do is standby and watch, as your mind goes faster and faster, and your thoughts race towards that imaginary disaster. (I do know to you however, it feels real, very real).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I'm trying to do my best for you, getting that balance between giving you the love and support you need, but letting you also find you're own way through this. You see, there's really only you who can change the way you feel, but we will be there with you every step of the way. (We are your marathon support team, handing out refreshments and encouragements when you are flagging).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">And to that fear in you head, well if I could clamber in there, and throw out those muddled, unwanted thoughts, then I would, but I can't. So you're going to have to fight them, you're going to need to stand up against them...tell them to sod off, that they are lying to you, and have no place in your head. (On this occasion, if you feel you need to swear, I won't mind...I swear at them too).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Next time, when you are chatting with your friend, and she accidentally spits on your face, and a tiny drop lands in your mouth, stay calm. It's ok, it's not going to hurt you, or make you ill. In fact, thank your friend! That tiny exchange of bodily fluid means your body is now making extra antibodies, making you extra healthy...hooray for any bits of bodily fluid that comes your way! (Eventually there will be someone you really want to kiss, I'm hoping this will be quite a few years away, but it will happen, and there's a lot of bodily fluid exchange in a kiss, think of this as preparation for that day).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Find your happy place, your calm space. Find somewhere that makes you forget all your worries and woes, somewhere where those silly thoughts can't find you. You are very creative, I'm sure you will find a place, and it will be somewhere that's amazing. (Mine as you know is my garden, and studio...feel free to join me anytime, I'm always grateful for an extra pair of hands for weeding!). </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">We love you with all our heart, your dad and I. We love the very bones of you. We love your creativity, your very kind heart, the way you make us laugh out loud every day. We love that beautiful smile of yours, and the way it makes your eyes twinkle. We just love you. It's makes us sad, and angry when we see you like this, but it doesn't have to last forever. YOU have the power within you to change. Believe in yourself. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Love Mum :) xxx</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">(Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post, thank you for sharing, thank you for your support).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RqGllsvatD4/V9uqzF0GBxI/AAAAAAAAKlY/IL3ADptup3I/s2048/Photo%25252020160916091648603.jpg" target="_blank" style=""><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RqGllsvatD4/V9uqzF0GBxI/AAAAAAAAKlY/IL3ADptup3I/s500/Photo%25252020160916091648603.jpg" id="blogsy-1474013902360.2869" class="alignnone" width="500" height="500" alt=""></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Learn to chill like Otto ;) xxx</div><p> </p><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Vintage Sheet Addicthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027266547200808397noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5820448587005531644.post-33799146350985633532016-09-13T02:54:00.001-07:002016-09-13T05:09:31.852-07:00Creating Happy...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fgKzkH3ZVow/V9fMuxhP9WI/AAAAAAAAKk8/01hF7opj4NM/s2048/Photo%25252020160913105313506.jpg" target="_blank" style=""><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fgKzkH3ZVow/V9fMuxhP9WI/AAAAAAAAKk8/01hF7opj4NM/s500/Photo%25252020160913105313506.jpg" id="blogsy-1473768545011.1401" class="alignnone" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">We can only really be the creators of our own happiness, our own peace. We can try to instill happiness and peace in others, we can wear ourselves out doing so, but we can't really make others be happy. We can't give them peace. It's something they have to find for themselves.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">This is a very difficult thing to come to terms with, especially if you are a fixer. If you are the sort of person who feels the distress of others, absorb it into your soul, like it was your very own pain. It's very hard to stay strong, when you are feeling spent. When you've depleated all your energy, trying to lift someone else's spirit, to fix them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">In our house we have little demons who visit us at night, when it's dark, when we feel at our most vulnerable. They torment us with visions of horrible things, don't let us rest, they steal out sleep, they steal our peace. They cause us to twist in pain and panic, to be truly terrified. So terrified that even the person you feel closest to, can't help you.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Being a parent can be full of awe and wonder, you can't quite believe you've bought this incredible human being into the world. It can also be the most difficult, challenging job on the planet. It can make you feel like the biggest failure, totally, utterly rubbish. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">As parents, we don't talk that much about our young people and about the mental health issues they may have. Maybe it's because we feel guilty, after all it must be our fault, we must be doing something wrong. Parents are supposed to make their children happy, we are supposed to be able to banish demons, aren't we? Be the ones to give peace. This message is given loud and clear, if a child is sad, troubled, it's the parents fault. It's my fault.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I can't banish the demons, as hard as I try. I'm exhausted fighting them night after night. And yes, as a parent I feel a failure. Once again we will turn to the professionals and their coping techniques. Childhood mental health services are stretched to breaking point in the UK. I've had very few weeds in the raised beds, which has been fabulous, it's making gardening very easy. Exactly what I had hoped for. My thoughts are now turning to Autumn, it will be sad to see some of these plants die, but that's the circle of life really. That's what gardening is all about. We plant, we tend, we harvest. Thank you garden, for bringing me such joy.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">So jobs for September:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Continue to harvest and eat!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Decided on which fruit trees to plant, Autumn is the best time to plant bare rooted trees, which will be more cost effective too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I'm going to get a few Autumn crops to grow, probably buy some plug plants, just so I can keep gardening through to Christmas. I'm really feeling the benefit of gardening, physically and well as mentally. Sadly I won't have my greenhouse to hide out in during the colder months, but I still need to be out in the garden as much as possible. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">As usual, I'm joining in with <a href="http://downbytheseadorset.blogspot.co.uk/">Sarah</a>, and quite a few others, hop over for a look if you get the chance. text-align: none;">We've just returned from a week on the North Yorkshire Coast. An absolutely stunning coastline, lots of interesting little seaside towns, slotted into the rugged coastal edge. Most days were spent beach combing, breathing in the restorative sea air. I'm sure this air helped me climb the steep hills up and down to the beach. I really must live by the sea, is it the enzymes that float in the air, or the salty smell, the sound of the calming waves? I'm not sure what it is, but it does make me feel stronger, that's for sure.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">The week before we went was extremely stressful. I can't go into the details here, but I was literally at the end of my tether. All my energy had been spent and I was a gibbering mess. We almost cancelled our trip, as I felt I couldn't sum up the energy to go. My body felt completely out of balance, MS lurking just a whisper away, waiting to strike. I knew if it did, it would be a huge blow, the sort that would knock me to the ground, and put me out of action for a long time. It's done it before, I know just how aggressive it can be. It's a dangerous place for me, my body needs to stay balanced.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I gave myself one last push, and a blooming good talking too, and finally managed to get everything ready. Normally I'm very organised at holiday time, this year I packed late, we left very late, no plans, nothing. When we reached our lodge it felt like a warm, cosy blanket had wrapped itself around me. It was set in a beautiful little wood, at the end of a very quiet campsite. My body took a deep breath. Perfect.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Our little holiday wasn't all relaxing, it had more than a few dramas, my complicated little family is never without its stresses and strains. Mixed within the dramas however, were some perfect moments, of calm and peace. A cup of morning coffee out on our deck, just listening to the birds. Watching the campsites chickens forage. I am always particularly calm as l stroll along the waters edge, looking for sea glass. Yes, I really must live by the sea. It does me good.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Otto really enjoyed his first holiday. Yes he was travel sick but that improved as the week went on, he was however the noisiest thing on the campsite! He loved walking along the beach and as long as the waves weren't too big, he would run after stones we threw in for him. He just loved meeting the other dogs, and got lots of attention from passerby.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Yes, all in all, just what the doctor ordered. I now feel more balanced again, it feels good.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Hope all is well with you too,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Amanda :) xxx</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q_1BuZ1X7TQ/V7l0uitnxVI/AAAAAAAAKhY/E4jekr5_0PE/s640/Photo%25252020160821102942152.jpg" target="_blank" style=""><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q_1BuZ1X7TQ/V7l0uitnxVI/AAAAAAAAKhY/E4jekr5_0PE/s500/Photo%25252020160821102942152.jpg" id="blogsy-1471777914601.691" class="alignnone" alt="" width="480" height="640"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><p> </p><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Vintage Sheet Addicthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027266547200808397noreply@blogger.com26tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5820448587005531644.post-25999555304769987662016-08-08T11:56:00.001-07:002016-08-08T11:56:12.817-07:00See You Later...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pwgHiXXk2SI/V6jVr7NpkcI/AAAAAAAAKgc/m_oI2R7xpBk/s2048/Photo%25252020160808195515136.jpg" target="_blank" style=""><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pwgHiXXk2SI/V6jVr7NpkcI/AAAAAAAAKgc/m_oI2R7xpBk/s500/Photo%25252020160808195515136.jpg" id="blogsy-1470682571499.2693" class="alignnone" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">The summer holidays are in full swing, having the girls home is keeping me very busy, and leaving me very little time for blog writing or reading. Please move on if you want too, and don't read, I wouldn't blame you. What I'm going to write is really one of those first-world problems we read about, i.e. most of the people living on this planet wouldn't see it as a problem, they'd just be bloody grateful to be in my shoes. I think when you have a condition like MS you can feel vulnerable, uncertain about the future. This picture above is the back of my house, I just wish it looked different, and here's why...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I've accepted the fact I have MS, I've accepted the fact that my mobility issues stop me from doing the things I once enjoyed. I know, in comparison to many others with MS, I'm actually doing ok. I've accepted the fact that I can no longer earn a living the way I did before, and that our lifestyle isn't what I hoped it would be. I'm trying to accept the fact that we won't be able to financially help and support our girls, in the way I thought we would. (But then neither my husband, or I have ever been in the position to be supported by our parents, and we managed).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I've accepted a lot over the past few years. I've managed to cope, and carve out a new life for myself and my family. I love my home and the area I live in, and always thought we would live here, until our girls had grown and flown. This house, as it is now however, can't support my changing mobility needs. If I stay the same as I am now, everything will be ok, but if things progress, like they have done over the last five years, well my home won't offer me the accessibility I need. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Now for the bit I'm really struggling with. A few years ago, the authority I worked for didn't follow correct procedures, and because of this I've lost out on tens of thousands of pounds of my pension pot. With that money we could have extended downstairs, and made my home, accessible for me, whatever my changing needs become. Up until a few weeks ago, I had thought that this would happen. I now know that it won't. None of this is my fault, yet I'm the one living with those consequences. It's seems so unfair. I have a insecure future, just because someone made the wrong decision. Last week when I was ill I got stuck on the stairs, it's made me realise how difficult things can get.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I'm really struggling with this, and as much as I try to shake off the injustice, it still keeps grabbing hold. I've really got to let go and stop, STOP, thinking how things could have been. I keep going over how it could have been. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I COULD have had a house that was fully accessible. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">We COULD have lived here all our lives, if that's what we wanted. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">We COULD have had a little extra each month, to support our girls through their education. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I COULD have had not only a lovely garden, but also my lovely greenhouse. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">So as you can see, I'm in a period of grieving, not for a person, that's much harder, but for a better future. However, I really do believe that everything happens for a reason, to teach us something. Are these lessons I need to learn?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">1.To be less greedy, and be truly grateful for what I have. I've got so much good in my life, yet I'm wanting more. There are many people in this world who don't even have a home. I really need to learn to be less selfish. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">2.If I did have an accessible house, then would I become lazy? As things are now, I know I'm up against it. Just this last year I'm able to do less, but I push myself every day, I never give in. I push myself to do things because if I don't then is the next step not being able to climb those stairs. Perhaps by not having things easy, it's making me work harder to stay mobile? Maybe that's why that person made the wrong decision? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">3. Life doesn't always deal us the cards we were hoping for, just switch on the news and you see that, look at all those innocent people killed and injured just lately, they would never have imagined the card they were dealt. I'm alive for goodness sake, isn't that enough. I really do need to get my act together, don't I?!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">So that's today, just how I'm feeling warts and all. I'm sorry to rant, but I found when I've wrote about stuff like this in the past, it's really helped me to move on...fingers crossed. My husband keeps telling me to get in the real world, and he's right, I'm a great dreamer, and believer that people will put right what was wrong, but that's not always the case. I've got to stop with the 'could haves' and concentrate on what I do have, a beautiful family, loving friends, and a bloody fabulous garden! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Have a great day, tomorrow I will be posting happier pictures, and happier thoughts! We are taking Otto, but I'm feeling rather worried about this. We all felt he was too young to leave with strangers in kennels, and we don't have anyone else to have him for the whole week. He's really doesn't travel well, vomiting, and for a family that has a member with emetophobia, that's not been easy, believe me!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">I'm not sure if this week away will feel like a holiday, we will have to think about Ottos needs all the time. He will bark again at nighttime if his routine changes too much, we are staying in a holiday park so I don't want him disturbing others. We won't be able to go out for our meals like we have done before on holiday, we very rarely go out to restaurants as a family so on holiday I like us to have a treat. I'm beginning to think we shouldn't have booked a holiday this year.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">When we went away last year we saw lots of families happily walking their dogs along the beach, I had imagined us doing the same. Maybe it will be fine, he might just happily fit in with what we are doing, I hope so. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">PLEASE, if any of you have any advice of holidaying in with a small, high energy, yappy dog, I'd be soooo grateful. I feel very fortunate to have this space, I didn't use it very much over the winter, having Otto stopped that. It's better now, he's toilet trained, I can leave him on his own for short periods, and if he does join me in the studio he's starting to learn not to chew everything! Think we are some way off sewing in close proximity to him though, he'd have a field day with my sewing machine ;) I'm starting to use this space more and more again now. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">So my crafty space:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">1. Blue Rocking Chair. It does look nice, but has to be the most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat in, soon to be put on eBay! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">2. Vintage Wallpaper. Picked up from various car boot, charity shops, but mainly eBay. I love this type of wallpaper, it's funky colours and patterns, all from the 1970s.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">3. Tall Locker Bookcases. I got these from a 8A King Street, Southwell, Nottinghamshire. They pick up some really nice bits and bobs from vintage fairs, always worth a look. These are perfect for books, magazines, and fabric.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">4. Wire Desk Shelves. These were from Ruby Rockcake. Brilliant, hold loads of stuff, mainly fabric and yarn. I've got a bit of a thing for 1970s bed sheets, I just love the colours and happy designs.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">5. Desk. IKEA, cheap, functional, perfect size for crafting.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">6. Vintage Machinst Chair. Another eBay bargain, needs renovating but at the moment it's covered with a blanket I made.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">7. Suitcases. I picked these up from a car boot I think, only a pound or two. I've glued wallpaper on them...must have a look at what's inside!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">8. Vintage Basket. Gifted from a friend.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">9. Quilts. Made by me, probably unfinished ;)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">10. Garland. Made for me by Clare at Selfsewn. Beautiful Liberty fabric hexies, love this.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">11. Studio Sign. Made by another lovely friend.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Yes, I feel very blessed to have this space. She adopted us when she was tiny. She was living with someone who didn't really love her, or look after her, in the way she deserved. So like any sensible cat, she 'up sticks' and found a family who would give her best ham for treats. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">We've had her seven years now, we think she must be around eight years old. We first met her as a tiny little bundle of black and white fur, she bounded onto our garden to play with the branches we were removing from an old tree. The girls loved her instantly, as did I, it's taken the man of the house a little while longer, but after having a very vocal dog, I think he's finally appreciating just how easy going she is!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">She's mellowed as she's got older, everyone in the house bar me, is still a little frightened of her, she can be very feisty. Attacking feet was a favourite game of hers, and biting your fingers too, just when you thought it was safe to stroke. I think she's marvellous, I wish she wouldn't hunt baby birds, and bat butterflies, but apart from that, she's welcome to curl up next to me any day.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">She's bemused by Otto. She's a bit naughty and likes to torment him, that usually involves sitting somewhere just out of reach (it's not hard, he's low to the ground!), and watching as he tries his best to 'play', he's desperate to be friends. After he's drove himself demented trying to get to her, she then casually, and slowly, walks away...silly Otto, will you never learn? I'm of the camp that cats are much more savvy than dogs.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Have a lovely day,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Amanda :) xxx</div><p> </p><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Vintage Sheet Addicthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16027266547200808397noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5820448587005531644.post-11196939043841009782016-07-16T22:49:00.001-07:002016-07-16T22:49:03.959-07:00A Picture A Day...17<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nw4Sf7lDCdc/V4scTcImDNI/AAAAAAAAKbA/psNZuK3i4Sk/s2048/Photo%25252020160717064827545.jpg" target="_blank" style=""><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nw4Sf7lDCdc/V4scTcImDNI/AAAAAAAAKbA/psNZuK3i4Sk/s500/Photo%25252020160717064827545.jpg" id="blogsy-1468734542665.8103" class="alignnone" width="500" height="750" alt=""></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Abundance...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Nasturtium </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Parsnips</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Carrots</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Beetroot</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Munchkin pumpkins</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Borlotti beans</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Yellow courgette</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">French dwarf beans</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Winter squash</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Green courgette</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Tomato</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Cucumber</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Kale</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Cosmos</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Roses</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Zinnias</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Sunflowers</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Strawberries</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Chives</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Lavender </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Chard</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Leeks</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Dahlias</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Runnculias </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Lettuce </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Pumpkins</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Peppers</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Mint</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Spinach</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Pea shoots</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Raspberries </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Parsley</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">Bay</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: none;">All this, in these raised beds, and pots dotted around my kitchen garden.
