I love Newark, I spend most of my time looking up at the architecture, not a good idea with the cobbled streets, and my lack of balancing skills!
There was a food festival on when we were there, lots of people milling about and a lovely atmosphere. We went for a walk down by the river stopping for coffee and cake, of course!
Newark Castle, I used to love visiting when I was little, it always seemed so spooky!
This is Butterworth Market, it's a lovely building with a mixture of shops.
On the Market I met Laura, who makes the most lovely crafts......
And we went into a Retro shop.....
It was called Vintage Vixen, it was mainly full of vintage clothes but there were a few household items too.....
Little Owls Nest was full of up cycled and new crafty goodies....
We had a Grand Day Out, just laughing and enjoying our time together. Big Sis has worked long and hard looking after adults with learning disabilities, and she is sooooo loving her retirement! Her shifts had meant we didn't see each other as much as we would have liked.
If our Dad would have still been with us, he would have been 89yrs old on our Sisters Day! We always remember his birthday, and it was good to be together, he would have loved that!
My Sisters have been a fantastic support to me over the last few years. I'm their Little Sis, we are all different, with our own quirky ways, but we love each other dearly. Together we seem to make a whole!
Hope, if you have a Sister, you to have Sister Days too!
Ada :) x
p.s. Big Sis had left home by the time I came along, not sure if it was the prospect of sharing a room with a crying baby, and Posh Sis and I fought like 'cat and dog' when we're kids! if your children squabble, there is hope!
p.p.s. Sorry, I've run out of time, Posh Sis has taken the girls out in her posh car and they are due back anytime now! Will let you know about craft fair on Wednesday! :)
What a lovely day out Ada! I have one little sis and we enjoy our time together too xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely, indeed!!! I would love to have the same opportunity with my sisters, too (we are 4!), but for so many reasons it's not possible at the moment!!! : ((

This is Ada B's Big Sis. We all had a fantastic day out, even though Posh Sis had the look of FEAR as we went into the realms of the second hand shops, but pleased to say after a new learning curve Posh Sis kept a smile on her face. I love each of my sisters we laugh together, cry together and have a moan together. Thats sisters for you.
ReplyDeleteBig Sis you worked out what to do!! Now you just need to start your own blog and we are away! My Big Sis has many talents, writing and cooking just two of them! Big hugs, Big Sis! X x x Ada :)
DeleteThank you so much for sharing your day with us. I always love visiting England...especially when I do not have to leave my seat, LOL
ReplyDeleteblessings, jill
My older sister and I fought like cats too...but my younger sis was the baby and was (and still is) very loveable and loved by everyone - mind you I get on very well with older sis now.
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds so good - I wish my sisters lived nearby but one is in South Africa and the other in New Zealand - we make do with Facebook.
Looks like you has a great day out and what a lovely way to remember your Dad ... I have no sisters ... but I have two lovely brothers ... but can't imagine they would want to poo-tal in second hand shops ... I will have to rely on my lovely friends for that ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteSounds & looks like a truly fabulous day! For the first time in 20 years my big sis and I now live in the same country - and only less than 2 hours away, so we LOVE having Sister Days too. xx
ReplyDeleteso lovely to hear about you and your sisters. Glad you had a good day, Heather x
ReplyDeleteI have four brothers but no sisters which I do think is a shame, but I have lovely friends instead! My brothers are mostly lots younger too so think I am a totally wierd and boring old fart!
ReplyDeleteGreat post - I have two sisters and we had a lovely sister day out shopping in Chichester last week. I am the oldest, and they say i am the bossiest too...
ReplyDeleteI have to know why your "posh sis" is posh! Is she a Lady or Dame or something? Very intriguing! x
Very funny! No she's no Dame, but she is a lady! She just has Very Expensive tastes! She brought 2 evening dresses for her Carribean cruise next year, I brought an old Galt jigsaw from the charity shop!! Ada :)
DeleteLovely to read about sisterly love & also to seee Newark.
ReplyDeleteThe husband has just said we are only 25mile away, so may have to have a mooch now your lvely photos have tempted me!
Lx
Try and nip over to Southwell too, it's a lovely little town I blogged about it back in July! Ada :)
DeleteNo sisters here. Only three brothers. It's rather odd that we live within 5 minutes of each other, and rarely see each other and almost never do anything together. Such is life.
ReplyDeleteI am happy that you had such a lovely day to have your sister day. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Sounds like the perfect 'Sister's day' out. Glad to hear you had a fun time together.
ReplyDeleteThe market photo reminds me so much of the market in Cambridge :)
I am looking forward to hearing how the craft fair goes..

What a lovely day to share with your sisters. Thanks for taking us along with you! I always wanted a sister but my parents didn't oblige me there!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to be your American sister! Looks like you had a wonderful time with your sisters. I do have a sister and I love spending time with her. It is so interesting because I spent some of my weekend in Newark....Newark, Ohio!!! I was visiting my daughter's soon to be Mother-in-Law and all her sisters. Her family is from Nottingham....England! Small world.
ReplyDeleteGosh yes it is isn't it! I'll be your British Sister anyday Mary! Ada ;)
DeleteThank you all so much for spending the time to leave me your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteSo many of you live far away from your family! I'm so lucky we live so close to each other! Ada :)
I too was wondering how come one sister is posh. I had visions of Hyacinth Bucket, or at her sister Violet (who has room for a pony)!
