I'm not sure if it's because it reminds me of my childhood, or if it the patterns and colours, but I Love vintage wallpapers!
It took much longer than I anticipated, but I've finally finished my Printers' Tray! and I Love it! (apologies now for abundant photos, just couldn't stop!).
It was quite a fiddely job, but I really enjoyed the painting, cutting and sticking, I wasn't sure wether to put single pieces of wallpaper in each slot, but in the end decided to group the papers in to several slots. What do you think?
Here it is in its final resting place, well until I get bored and have a swap around!
The little jug came from the charity shop this week, Crown Clarence, so pretty!
I've also been making more hexies this week...
And have just started to sew them together into flowers! And a small parcel of the most delicious orange and pink fell through the letter box this week, (only a few pennies, promise!), more of that next time!
Sometimes I wish I had my own Crafty Room.........
This is just a small part of the whirlwind of vintage sheets and vintage wallpapers, that have descended upon us this week! There was further chaos in the conservatory too! And the living room, as well as a trail of threads throughout the house! Mind you, if I had my own room, my family would NEVER see me!
I'm a VERY proud Mum this week, we have just been to meet Eldest Beas' tutor, and we are sooo pleased with how she has settled into her new school, and how well she's doing! She confidently showed us around her school, like she'd been there forever!
Little Bea too, has skipped to school with a smile on her lips, almost each day she's returned home with some sort of sticker or certificate for her work! When our children are happy, we are too!
Thank you all for taking the time to leave me your little messages and thoughts....and welcome to all my new 'followers', I've hopefully turned of that awful word verification thingy! I'm starting a campaign to have them all banned! Please join in the campaign and switch them off!
Rant over.........will leave you with this beauty.....
Back Soon.....
Ada :) x
Your printers tray is utterly gorgeous. It's one of the most pretty ones I've seen. Where are you getting your vintage wallpapers from? I need to start a collection! The last one (it is wallpaper isn't it?) is very similar to some up at my father in law's house which I drool at every time I see it. Xx
ReplyDeleteOccasional charity shop or boot sales mainly eBay but they are expensive! If I do open an Etsy shop I will put together craft packs so you get lovely designs without the huge cost! Ada :(
DeleteBee-oo-ti-ful. Truly, truly and verily. Just fabilicious. Makes me want to do that to my printers tray - except I don't have any wallpaper..:) Will just have to keep admiring yours. You can be proud of it.
ReplyDeleteYour crafty corner is cool - very pretty colours in that room.
And I am glad your girls are happy at school - makes such a difference to life.
Thanks Wendz, I do love this room, and at least it makes me tidy up afterwards! Ada :)
DeleteNice work... you inspire me! Why is a day only 24 hours?
ReplyDelete: )
Oh Ada, that printers tray is wonderful - I love the way you've put the patterns together in sections, I've never seen it done that way and it really works! I am lucky enough to have 2 printers trays, one I bought and I can't quite bear to mess with it as it has a lovely patina, but one I found in the street(!) and is very tatty, it definitely needs painting & papering! Very pleased to hear about the Beas' happiness, happy children make for happy mums and dads! xx
ReplyDeleteOh Ada, Ada, Ada I love it! It must have been a labour of love - all that painting and then the cuttin n stickin bit. I am embarking on my suitcase this evening. Just done some straight forward patches, now plucking up courage to cut around the catches and other tricky bits!
ReplyDeleteNow, I notice you've got two trays on your table. One wouldn't happen to be for sale would it? If it is could you let me know how much please. I'd love one but not sure I've got the patience.
thanks
Ellie

I have 6 all together! Not sure I'm up to painting anymore this week, yes I was thinking or putting them in my Etsy shop, I will research what I have to do next week, hopefully it won't be too hard! Ada :)
Deleteyou did it! it's lovely, I like the way you grouped the different styles together, good idea. you have some nice pieces there, when are you going to be selling them?!....I know what you mean about crafting in the family space, it's nice to be around people. Your room is lovely. I like the blue polka dot cupboard, very sweet. Well done to eldest Bea, and yes word verification can be a tad annoying! Heather x
ReplyDeleteYour printers tray really inspired me Heather, the cupboard was brought off a friend, it was already painted but I put the curtains on myself, I love it, every time I open the cupboard now fabric falls out! Ada :)
DeleteThat printers' tray is looking just too fabulous: love it! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's truly lovely... So pretty & bright ! You are one talented Bea :-)
ReplyDeleteXx
Love the printers tray - just gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteJust love your printer tray so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWell done to your girl its always nice when your kids are happy and doing well.
I am with you on the verification thingy too!
P x
Thanks Paula, have you got a blog yourself? Ada :)
DeleteI love your printers trays, before and after, in fact I'm more than a little green eyed as ive been on the lookout for some myself. Love what you did to them!
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by, so glad you did.
Kate x
Thanks for visiting me Kate! Hope you will pop back! Ada :)
DeleteOhh it reminds me of my mum's kitchen in the 70's. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteGrouping the papers together was a GREAT idea! It looks fab! And well done to the little Beas too.
ReplyDeleteRachel
How darling are all those things. Grouping the papers works for me. Yes when our children are happy and settled it makes a parents life so much easier. Well done and enjoy the moments.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the family would rather see you mess and all, than not. And I bet they don't even notice the mess either!
They don't usually, however Eldest Bea has asked my why our home looks like a charity shop! Ada :)
DeleteLove, love love your printers tray. I am glad your girls are happy at school that's great news. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteOh Ada, I just love what you did with the printers tray. I did not know there was wallpaper to match our beloved vintage sheets. What came first? The wallpaper or the sheets? I would love a room to myself also, but know the trouble that would cause. I would have at least 3 times the fabric I do now.
ReplyDeleteblessings, jill
I've loved the sheets for years now, wallpaper addiction only started a couple of years ago! Ada :)
DeleteYour tray is gorgeous!!!! love how you placed the wallpapers cuts in the slots!!!
ReplyDeletexxxx Alessandra
I love your printers tray! It came out so beautifully! A true piece of vintage goodness! Happy weekend! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteHello Ada, The series of photos of the tray reminds me of Maartja at silly old suitcase's style. I tend to photograph in this manner too, although I am usually satisfied with three or four clicks.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely job on the tray. Grouping the paper in different sections makes it look like a photo collage.
Glad to hear your girls are doing well.
XO
Sherrie
The printers tray is gorgeous, I envy anyone who has their own crafting space I'm relegated to a table in the corner of the dining room but do tend to spread throught the house :)
ReplyDeleteI call it my Crafty Wall! I own the whole wall! And about a foot in front of it! Ada :)
DeleteThe tray is sooo pretty. I have my own space but is a 6ft x 6ft space crammed with so much stuff it would make a much larger room feel over full. Might have a go at rationalising it at some point, or not I'm not good at deciding what to do with all the things that don't really have a home, or at throwing out things that really ought to be...
ReplyDeleteBut how do you decide what must go!!! Ada :)
DeleteHellooo Ada,
ReplyDeleteWell done you!
Your printers tray is pretty splendid!
I had a chuckle at your comment 'Wish I had my own crafting room',Well it looks like you do here!! hehe......
What a fab space to create!
Have a wonderful Friday, won,t you!
love Maria x
love the printers tray, Ada! wonderful collection of papers. also love the sweet little jug, what a precious find! Bernie x
ReplyDeleteThe tray is beautiful! You should be proud, because there is nothing else like this out there! It's a true "original design"!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job,
Erica :)
I can't take my eyes off the beautiful printers tray...it's just pure loveliness! What a pretty selection of wallpaper pieces..sigh *
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that your Eldest Bea and Little Bea are enjoying their schools :)
Wishing you all a fab weekend x
Magie
Love the printers tray. Can I ask where you got it? I fancy painting one up for Lego men for my little boy (sadly it wouldn't be filled with beautiful vintage wall paper). Sarah
ReplyDeleteThey came from eBay but they are so expensive! Ada :)
DeleteYour printers tray is gorgeous. I love the way you have grouped the papers. The word verification drives me mad I have followed your example and hopefully removed it from mine too!
ReplyDeleteSarah x
Thanks! It's so much easier and quicker without the word thingy! Ada :(
DeleteMe too ;)
ReplyDeleteWoW Ada I love it... recognize a few of the papers :-)..... I like the way you've grouped them together, so lovely. Have been doing some bits from your lovely giveaway goodies, Tommy is leaving for uni tomorrow so has been the maddest, weirdest week but hope to post about them soon, thank you again.....
ReplyDeleteso glad the beas are happy, thats all I ever want for my too it's so important xx
Sophie xx
Glad you are enjoying your little parcel! I hope Tommy has a great time at uni, I'm sure he will! Ada :)
DeleteWow Ada! That is so pretty. I love the jug too ..... i have started collecting jugs - not by choice, but everyone keeps buying me them! I love putting little delicate flowers in them.xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever sister i have, the Printers Trays look Brilliant and thanks to you i have read some great blogs and what a wonderful lot of bloggers there are out there, amazing. One day i may do my own, i seem to be too busy. How did i find time to work? love Big Sis xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Big Sis! Ada :) x
DeleteThank you everyone for your lovely, lovely comments! You are a great bunch of folks! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteWow, your printers tray is so gorgeous, i love it. You could fill it with bits and bobs but to be honest if your leave the little shelves empty I think the beautiful retro patterns really shine through.
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you re word verification thingys - HATE THEM!! "Prove your're not a robot" - a sentence that makes me shout at the computer! x
I just LOVE your printers tray ... you must have the patience of a saint. My little man has one in his bedroom - when we first bought it I promised that we would line each compartment with Beano comic strips but it has never happened! He keeps reminding me but every time I look at it I just can't bring myself to start. As for painting it ... I salute you!! M xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes it did take ALOT of patience! My hexie quilt is proving to be the same! WHY do I do this to myself! Ada :)
DeleteSo glad you all are settled in school. I know that must be quite a relief.
ReplyDeleteThat printers tray is absolutely crazy gorgeous. I love the combination of design and color. It will linger in my thoughts today. Have you ever considered designing your own fabric or wallpaper? I always thought that sounded fun.
Thank you! You haven't seen my drawing skills! My youngest daughter might do when she gets older, she's very artistic! I agree with you though bet it is fantastic to be able to design things for the home! Ada :)
DeleteHi Ada
ReplyDeleteIv'e just spent a lovely half an hour catching up with your posts, it was just what I needed to cheer me up (someone broke into our garden Friday evening and stole our beloved chickens).
I have picked up the odd vintage sheet over the past couple of years with the intention of selling them on at fairs and I have made and sold the odd length of bunting but since discovering your blog I have found I too have grown to love them and have no intention of selling them now.
I love your printers tray and suitcase, I have a couple in my basement that came from the convent where I used to work and they are just crying out for such a makeover.
Thanks as always for your lovely comments on my blog x
How awful! That's so sad, why on earth do people do these horrible things?
DeleteI'm glad I have been able to cheer up your day a little, I look forward to seeing how you transform your sheets and suitcase!
Sending you a big Bloggy hug, Ada :) x
Just catching up with all your vintage patterned goodness :D I adore the printer's tray, it's perfect. And I can't wait to see what you are doing with those hexies. Looks like you're having so much fun :D
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness, I love your printers tray and cannot imagine how much work that was to make! But it was well worth the work. I've just discovered your blog and am having so much fun looking around at all of your lovely things. XO Helena
ReplyDeleteHi Ada,LOVE the printers tray and your crafty space, happy weekend,Xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is soooooo pretty...you have inspired me to pull out my little shelf and do something with it. xoxo Hugs
ReplyDeletelooks really pretty
ReplyDeleteOh wow, your printers tray is wonderful Ada. All that time was well worth it, the wallpaper looks great in it and I love your hexies too......
ReplyDeleteSweet little jug you scored and I know how frustrating it is not having your own room to craft in. Hopefully one day.....
I'm with you on the Word Verification, it's a right, royal pain and definitely worth a rant....good on you.
Claire :}
Looks a really hard job to do that needs tons of patience. I bet you're thrilled with how it looks aren't you. Will you use it to display wee bits and bobs?
ReplyDeleteX
Lovely work Ada!
ReplyDeleteI don't have my own dewing room anymore since we moved to a smaller place! I have a trail of stuff all over the place! My cutting table is in the living room and my sewing machine and table is in my teenagers room! My family doesn't mind though cause they love me!
--Stephanie
Oh it has turned out sooo beautifully Ada, the colours are glorious. Your wallpaper range is fantastic. In our new plans I have a crafting space of my very own, I cannot wait. mel x
ReplyDeleteHi Ada, what a lovely job you've done on your printer's tray. It looks really pretty. Like the way you grouped the papers together. What are you going to put in there?
ReplyDeleteNot sure yet! At the moment just enjoying the colours! Ada :)
DeleteI love the tray, you've done an amazing job on it.
ReplyDeleteAda that looks fab! I think a little caravan will need one one day what do you think? Are they heavy?
ReplyDeleteSharon xx
What a great idea! Yes every caravan needs one a, no they aren't heavy, not very big actually, 11 by 19 inches, perfect caravan size! It could be colour coordinated to the interior, or perhaps, as usual, I'm just getting carried away! Ada :)
