I've put the, Summer-that-never-really-started behind me, and I'm embracing the changing seasons. I'm feeling the need for Orange! However, it's still absent from the trees, so I get my Orange Fix where I can....
Over the past couple of years, I've begun to introduce more oranges, reds and yellows in the garden ( I was a white, pink and blue girl before!), I'm feeling the need for more dramatic colours, but that will need to wait until next year!
Just a smidgen of orange inside, must rectify this, with imminent decorating projects!
Don't worry! I'm not about to start wearing orange flares anytime soon, but aren't they great! And, of course, there was always the wallpaper!
Orange, according to colour therapy, stimulates, energisers, it's good for creativity!
Talking about creativity, the hexie is coming along nicely, slowly, but nicely! Thank you all for your thoughts and advice. I've took your advice, and decided not to back it with that sheet, you were all right! I will find something else more suitable. I do have enough of the pink and orange fabric, but then I would need to quilt it for warmth....not sure I'm ready for that one!
Thank you to those who have decided to join in my 'Turn off the Word Thingy' campaign!
Welcome to all those of you who have just joined Vintage Sheet Addict, enjoy!!!
I'm in a bit of a quandary on wether to reply to all your comments or just answer direct questions/ welcome new friends. I read all your comments and appreciate them very much, so I hope you don't think I'm rude if I don't reply! Also I want to visit as many of you as I can, even if I haven't got time to comment, I always read the blogs I follow!
One last orange photo...
We call her Pumpkin, we don't know who owns her, but they aren't doing a very good job! She was incredibly thin and the most nervous cat I've ever known! I've been feeding her lots over the Summer and slowly she is starting to trust me, she has put on weight, and she now enjoys being stroked, I can even pick her up! I have yet to hear her purr! Poor thing!
If we could afford to keep her we would, our own cat Minnie found us too, after she was being mistreated. I think I need to do some detective work!
Have a lovely weekend Everyone!
Ada :) x
Great post Ada, I used to babysit for a woman with a cat called Pumpkin who looked very like that one, many years ago. One of my earliest memories is of being in our kitchen and staring at the patterns in the orange and brown wallpaper and lino - it was a very seventies kitchen!
ReplyDeleteDo what feels right for you in terms of replying, I have got into the habit of replying to most comments on my blog, but then you have rapidly overtaken me in terms of numbers of followers... ;) x
Loving all the orange Ada ... the trousers are great :) ... do what you think is right for you with the comments ... I think readers and bloggers like the interaction of receiving and replying to comments ... but I think a heartfelt comment now and again is way better than a reply for the sake of it ... if you know what I mean ... it would be impossible to reply to every one when you have so many followers ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteI love orange and they did it so well in the 70's! We are entering Spring here and getting ready for summer. I enjoy sitting down with a cuppa and reading your blog :-)
ReplyDeleteAll your photos are great but that first one, oh goodness, be still my heart. That is pure beauty.
ReplyDeleteblessings, jill
Hi Ada, lovely orange post! So sweet that you are looking after pumpkin, perhaps he is your cat after all! Heather x
ReplyDeleteThanks for a cheery, colourful post, poor little pumpkin. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteFabulous post Ada! Loving the orange. The wallpapers are gorgeous, I especially love the second one down.
ReplyDeleteVictoria xx
Lovely post with all my favourite colours! The little cat is adorable, love the name you have chosen.
ReplyDeleteAre the illustrations of the girl with the dog from the "Mandy" comic?
Helenxx
Yes, I got it from a car boot a while back, I had it when I was a kid too! Wish I hadn't thrown anything away! Ada :)
DeleteYummy orange. I have that very Mandy annual. Xx
ReplyDeleteOh crikey, you've been tangoed! I must admit I am absolutely not an orange fan. Your lovely pictures have tempted me but no. For me it's a bluey greeny kinda thing but... you don't get turquoise cats and Pumpkin does look lovely. Go on, you know you want to!

That advert frightened the living daylights out of me....and I was all grown up then! Yes we would LOVE her, if it was just extra food, no problem but it's the vets fees! Minnie always gets herself into scraps, she costs us a small fortune! I know what you mean about bluey green!.....might have to do a post on that.......Ada :)
DeleteI love orange now, but I didn't used to. How strange we are! Anyway, now it just makes me feel warm and cosy, must be my age! Lovely pictures too :) x
ReplyDeleteAgh l'orange! I remember the orange kitchen tiles teamed with chocolate brown wood or laminate. I had purple flairs, plush velvet purple flairs! Honestly if you had told me years ago that the seventies would be cool some day, well I would not have thought it. But all good style is timeless. If orange is upbeat, what make you of the neutral palate mixed with grey that the young 'uns favor now?
ReplyDeleteI love all the orange color photos and inspiration! Puts me in the mood for fall weather! Poor little kitty! Good thing he stumbled upon you! He seems like he is in good hands! Take care!

ReplyDeleteCute orange things here! But Pumpkin is the sweetest! I do hope you find out if she has an actual home! It's nice of you to take care of her in the mean time!

I had that 70's orange thing going in my bedroom when I was 10...1976. Orange and white, nylon, (made so much static electricity) floral quilt on my bed, (no duvet back then, it was all sheets and blankets and quilts), orange patterned wallpaper. I LOVED it. I'd spend hours in my room, reading in the sunshine, on my bed..it was the BEST place in the house, I thought.
ReplyDeleteThen we followed that orange phase by going purple and white - which was lovely too. :)
I'm loving all the orangey Autumnal colours that are creeping in with the new season too. Can't wear it though - am too fair & freckly!!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend :-)
xx
Lovely cheery post, thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous array of autumn lovliness in this post today! It's distracted me from the fact that I've had to turn to heating on. x
ReplyDeleteLove orange :)
ReplyDeleteWell I certainly remember that 70's orange lol! Actually I do love a splash of orange here and there. Really livens things up! Although I think I'll hold off on those flares too! Loving your happy colors over here and your creativity! ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting me! I was a bit worried when flares were fashionable again a few years ago, I don't want to go there again! Ada :)
DeleteBefore I moved house last year, I found some orange/ mustard Hornsea pottery in a charity shop and the colour scheme for my kitchen was born. I have patchwork curtains made from vintage sheets too!
ReplyDeleteHope you have pictures on your blog! I will pop over and have a look! Ada :)
DeleteLots of pictures of the finished kitchen on the post of 13th March 2012 entitled ' It's been a long time coming'! The patchwork curtains are on that post.
DeleteOrange you glad, that autumn is here?
ReplyDeleteOnly you could think that one up! Ada :)
DeleteAda, your orange was stunning and I loved all your vintage illustrations and linens right down to your sweet kitty!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, love Heidi
Those pictures take me right back to my childhood! I am glad you are boycotting the word monster - I can't cope with it at all.
ReplyDeletePomona x
Can I make you a new blog banner that will fit? :)
ReplyDeleteI love to make them!
Thank you sp much for your offer!
Deleteyesterday i picked up my new laptop and have just downloaded all my photos, so, hopefully,I should now be able to change the look of my blog! Up until now I have been using my ipad but couldnt work out how to put my pictures on it, I'm a real dinosaur!
Could I contact you if (when!) I have any problems? Ada :)
I am loving orange right now...orange and pink...thanks for all the lovely photos...have a great weekend and happy Fall.
ReplyDeleteAda loving all those orange papers! My next caravan must have some of your orange papers in! Poor little cat..
ReplyDeleteSharon xx
I can see it now! A sea of vintage loveliness on every wall! Do you call them walls in caravans? Ada :)
DeleteThanks for all that gorgeous orange inspiration, Ada. I'm waiting for our family room to be finished renovating because I have in mind to decorate with pale grey and orange!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Everyone for taking the time to comment! Glad you have enjoyed the orange! I shall keep feeding Pumpkin, promise! Ada:)
ReplyDeleteFunny about orange, it used to be one of my least favourite colours. But lately I am drawn to it, almost like a physical craving. I still do not do orange in large dozes, but l do love the bright pop of it in small ones. Orange is even appearing in my garden, specially amongst the annuals, and there is hardly anything more cheering than a bright bouquet of late summer flowers on the breakfast table. Orange... bring it on!
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely more orange in my garden next year! Ada :)
DeleteWell hello Ada, What a pretty, pretty blog you have....I think I will follow along with you....Bestest etc etc...Daisy
ReplyDeleteThank you Daisy! I will pop over to visit you soon! Ada :)
DeleteI'm curious if you are British or a transplant? Ada seems like such an unusual name here :) Your blog is always such a feast for the eyes - such fabulous finds!
ReplyDeleteI have the same dilemmas about comments. I'd love to comment on each one and visit their blogs - but I was spending too much time on the computer and had to scale back. So hard to find a good balance.
Your hex quilt looks amazing so far. Are you just cutting and ironing at this stage? Looks like a ton of work, but will definitely pay off in all it's vintage beauty!
British through and through! My birth name is Amanda, Ada is the nickname my Mum used to call me ( my Frandmothers' name). Mum has Alzheimer's now and doesn't remember me anymore:( so reviving my nickname as meant a great deal to me, keeps a bit of my relationship with my Mum going! I've wrote about it early on in my blog, think in this July if you are interested. The hexie top will be finished, hopefully this week, then I have to pluck up the courage to quilt it,gulp! Ada :)
Deleteloving the orange Ada,Poor little Pumpkin,I'm so glad she found you,XXxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for your seasonal orange Ada - a lovely display for this time of year. Looking forward to your finished quilt
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Jenny
loving the orange! Just found you through Tales from a Happy House - you have a lovely blog!
ReplyDeleteI was never that big an orange fan myself, but it's growing on me. Do you find as you've got older your colour preferences have shifted?
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the 'how to respond to commenters' dilemma. Like me you get so many comments now that it all just becomes too time consuming. No idea if it helps to know what I do, which is answer direct questions in the comments, email anyone who comments who doesn't have a blog (very few) and comment on the blogs of commenters as often as I can. We bloggers thrive on comments above all else I think :D
I feel like I could do with a spot of orange in my life at the moment - so hideous is the wind and rain outside my windows tonight...again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the colour boost.
Nina x
Lovely bright and beautiful post with all those cheerful shades of orange! Some of those fabrics made me feel nostalgic! Love reading your blog, Ada. I usually try to comment on other's blogs rather than emailing the commenters otherwise I would just run out of time....I think you have to just do what's right for you and not worry :)
