Well, Hello! I've missed you all! Hope you all had a great Christmas! Ours has been very chilled, relaxed, lovely food and a little too much wine (nice though, it's not often I have too much wine!).
Stockings opened on our bed, not too early this year, Christmas morning! Then race downstairs to see what else had been left under the tree. This year, the girls pressies were placed in pillowcases. When I was a little girl, we would always wake up to a pillowcase filled with goodies, I wanted to recreate this tradition! At first the girls thought I was a bit bonkers, but humoured me, chose their own vintage pillowcase from my collection (has to have a vintage twist don't you think!), but then loved diving in to get their presents out the next morning!
This year Christmas has shrunk in the Bea household, presents have got smaller (ironically more expensive though!). The large toys, full of endless plastic tags, which take an age to get out of the packaging, have been replaced with smaller electronic ones!
And today is my birthday! Celebrations have been put 'on hold' as there are 'bugs a lurking'! So this post is a day early, I have some unexpected time on my hands! This is my new bag brought from Little Teawagon! Beautifully crafted by Jane!
Having a birthday so close to Christmas is a mixed blessing, the good thing is that the celebrations are stretched out an extra day (unless bugs are lurking of course!) but your birthday can also be swallowed up by Christmas too!
When I was little I celebrated my birthday in April with Posh Sister, then when I was about 6, asked if I could have my own birthday back! I think I understand what my parents were trying to do, but I wanted my own day.....it's my own fault of course, I should have been born in March, just couldn't wait to join in the fun!Let me show you what else I've had......
Love these colours.....new addiction on the horizon!!!
Lovely barkcloth from Folly and Glee and a little porcelain brooch and tin from a good friend, who knows me so well!
And a beautiful blue scarf, hand made for me by Jackie, just one of the lovely swap pressies!
It's been very peaceful, life changes, and we have to change too!
I'm glad to be back in Blog Land, I will pop over to catch up with everyone!
Ada :) x
p.s my friend has just phoned.....she's popping over to see me, so some celebrations then.......x x x
I'm glad you are back too!
ReplyDeleteLovely prezzies you lucky lady

Happy birthday to you! I know all about having your birthday at Christmas time;)
ReplyDeleteMiss Ada, it's my birthday on the 28th!! Testify as to the swallowing of celebrations, let's face it who wants to know you smack bang between Christmas and New Year.......only the best people do of course. My parents did make sure I had two lots of presses, so I felt I had just that bit more to look forward to after Christmas......well my dear the best of wishes to a fellow Capricorn! Long may you reign! :-)
ReplyDeleteFirstly, happy happy birthday to you miss Ada Bea! My Liongirl was due on xmas day and I was relieved for her that she came over a week earlier and had a tiny bit of breathing space from the big day. My MIL's birthday is on xmas day and we always have a cake and separate presents to make a fuss over her. Love all the goodies you received, that bag from Jane is beautiful. Are we to presume that you made that lovely little crochet cushion by your own self? If so you are rocketing along, well done. mel xx
ReplyDeleteSadly, no I'm not at that stage yet! The little cushion was brought from the country living fair! One day......:) x
DeleteHappyu Birthday! What a great time to have it at - stretches the fun out longer!! Sounds as though a great time was had and I am loving the pillowcase tradition, fab!

Happy Happy birthday Ada. I know how you feel because yesterday was my husband's birthday ...it always seem to mingle with Christmas and doesn't get properly celebrated. In your case it looks as if you have been able to stretch the festivities longer to get your birthday in too...well done!

Hi and Happy Birthday. My son's birthday is today (28th) and it used to seem unfair he had to wait a whole year for presents! My other son and my birthday is in June, which is perfect. Can I be nosy and ask what the yarn is please? The colours are just right for my god daughter's birthday gift. (also in June). Thank you.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday, Ada!
ReplyDeleteBirthday greetings to you my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of fun you have had this Christmas. Norad's Santa Tracker caught me in its spell too, The first year I followed it, three of us watched the markers move westward until the magical moment when he flew over our house. Funny how a little wine and an imagination can make you a believer again.
Best of the best for your birthday Ada and I hope the bugs a lurking, pack their bags and clear out soon.
ReplyDeleteSome lovely birthday pressies and that certainly is some yummy looking wool there......can't wait to see what you make with it......
Hope you had/have a lovely day and there was some delish cake to be had....

Firstly, a belated happy birthday, Ada. My two sisters have their birthdays on 23 and 27 December so my childhood Christmases were chaotic, busy and happy times.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of your new tradition to spend Christmas morning with your Mum. I love the way you embrace what life throws at you, you are a very inspiring woman.

I have a friend with a birthday on Boxing Day who, as soon as she was old enough, was helped to stick a pin in a calendar and has an 'un-birthday' in September which she still celebrates ... so two birthdays ... like the Queen, as she was overly fond of reminding us in childhood!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fabulous birthday :D
What pretty gifts! Glad to have discovered your blog in blogland:-) Happy birthday and have a wonderful new year! Leah x
ReplyDeleteThank you all SO MUCH for your birthday wishes! I intended to reply to everyone but got caught up in the quest to learn crochet! :) x
