Modern Gardens Magazine

Hello, hope your weekend went well, as usual mine involved gardening, but also an impromptu shopping date with a friend, followed by some delicious tapas. I love unplanned, unexpected trips out.

Something I've known was being planned, and a bit hush hush, has been the creation of a new gardening magazine, here in the UK, called Modern Gardens. It's a bit of a twist on traditional gardening magazines, concentrating on using our outside spaces as rooms, on up-cycling, being creative, as well as lots of gardening advice. It's for those who are new to gardening, as well as more experienced gardeners.

Fiona, from Streetcomber, contacted me a while ago and asked if I would like to contribute. I must say I was surprised, and very honoured. You can read the article about my garden, in the first edition, out this Wednesday. I'm more than a little embarrassed by it all, I even had to send in a photo! I won't tell my girls they would be mortified...actually, that's not a bad idea ;) it features my garden as it was last summer, obviously a lot has changed since then.

Modern Gardens can be found here and they also have an Instagram page here. I will certainly be looking out for it on Wednesday 23rd March, and I wish them every success in their new venture.

Will be back later in the week,

Amanda :) xxx

  2. How exciting to be featured you have made some much of your garden being an outside space. I shall look out for it in the shops. It's nice to see a picture of you too! Your Mum would have been so proud. Sarah x

I know I remember you saying something a while ago about being in a gardening mag, but had completely forgotten which one, and I haven't been blogging or reading blogs for a couple of weeks - to busy in the garden - yes! ME! I bought this mag and suddenly Im thinking oh I recognise that studio -at-the-bottom-of-the-garden…… and there you were! Yippee! Nicely done and SO proud I shouted at Jim saying look! Here's Amanda- I thought it was her studio! So well done you… just off to make lunch (NOT on my new cooker… more anon!) so will read your latest couple of posts later. Just couldn't wait to say hi and say I've seen you! Lxxxx

  13. Your garden is lovely, I'm going to see if my local shop sells the magazine. I liked your post about the raised beds, need to try some thing like that to stop the resident sheep dog wasting my flowers. Love your site in general, lots of colour and happiness 😍
