(Almost) A Cushion!

Well I have my (almost) first crochet Ta Da! I know, I know, compared with most of the crochet loveliness in Blog Land this is (almost) cringe worthy, but I'm proud, so proud I know its not finished yet, but I just HAD to share!

Now....is it a cushion (NOT another cushion I hear my family cry!) or shall I carry on and create......a BLANKET!!!

I know I have such a long way to go, so many improvements to make....but I've started and it's not 2013 yet! I'm ahead of myself!

If I make a cushion, what's the best way of sewing this to the cushion? And what do I do with all those ends!!

When the children are back at school and I have some Me Time, I'm going to have a Bunny Mummy Day! I'm sure all of you know her blog very well, have you seen her latest post....crochet heaven! I will read all the way through her blog, and love every minute!

THANK YOU all so much for your kind birthday wishes, you are just The Best! I was hoping to reply to all.....but got a little distracted!

I have (almost a cushion....Yippee!)

I'm guest blogging over at Modflowers over the next week or so! Sharon as posted today as well, but please pop over, I could do with the support! It was a bit traumatic, I published my first post, sent it off, but it didn't show on her blog....it's floating around Cyber Space somewhere, I imagine some Aliens coming across it, thinking, who the heck is Ada Bea......little do they know! Anyway, I managed to work out what to do!

I'm extending the Crafty Currency Swap until the new year, pop over and have a look if you have a chance, there are some lovely swaps on offer! (sorry I seem to be making a lot of pop over demands!)

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement, you really help!

Ada :) x

p.s. I ironed, photographed, and decided which sheets I will pop in my Etsy shop yesterday, some pillowcases too....I had a lovely time!

  3. It's lovely Ada ... Stop doubting yourself! I have 2 granny square cushions (charity shop, not made by me) that are just 2 granny squares sewn together on 3 sides with the 4th side just being sewn up a quarter of the way each side, leaving an opening in the middle to put the cushion in ... Jst means you have to make another square! Gorgeous sheets too!

  4. It's really lovely - why not leave this one as a cushion and then do another for a blanket, it's nice to have something complete that you can look at and say 'I made that'!

Love the sheets - off to have a look at your etsy shop!

    Love, Nikki

  6. fantastic Ada! you can learn to include the ends in the next stitches, but I've just started darning them in back over on themselves, much stronger. Pillows are a bit fiddly, you could make two sides or stitch it to another cover. maybe you could keep going and it could become a lap blanket! well done though. Enjoy bunnymummy she's lovely isn't she! Heather x

  15. Ada, your crochet is fantastic, and you are right to be proud of it!! You can never have too many cushions or blankets in my opinion, so either would look gorgeous.

ps the only thing to do with those horrid ends is weave them in, one at a time, with a tapestry needle. Dull but essential! x

  16. See, I told you you could do it and you completely have! I suggest making another square and sewing them together to make a cushion cover. Then start again and make a blanket! I'll have to pop over to all your suggested places to visit when I have a mo. Sounds interesting...

      Bunny Mummy
      Seeds and stitches
All good clear tutorials but have a book handy with the types of stitches in as tutorials often require you to actually know the stitches! :) x

  23. Clever you. I've been doing it for nearly a year and I'm totally hooked... oh dear! Your colours are beautiful. The ends are pesky things aren't they, just weave them in the back. If you make a cushion, you can move onto another project... woo hoo xx

  24. Lovely Ada
Well done, that is so impressive for a first attempt and so neat too.My goodness do you know what you have "unleashed" now that you have learnt to do basic crochet...more's the questions do your family know what you will become now you can hook away? A happy hooking gal just like meeeee! Its got to be one of the most addictive divine crafts going, forget savings your pennies for a rainy day it will now be spent on yarn and your family will now have the pleasure of home and hand made blankets, pillows etc. Hooray for crochet, life would be so dull without it :O)Just weave the ends in with a thick embroidery needle that's what I do and yes,I am a big follower of Jacquie's blog too xox
