Christmas Tree Love........

Little Bea and I finished putting the decorations on the tree before school this morning! Again, reassurances given, we are still having a real one too, yes I promise!

The usual stories were told......each decoration means so much, either from my childhood, or from Little Bea's. The gold Santa took pride of place on my tree when I was a child, he's not quite so shiny now! My bambie, who keeps falling off!

Two little fairies, brought by Mum for my girls, before she became ill. The three little white mice, Mum got them when we were young, one for each of her daughters. Not as white anymore, but still precious...

Some of the decorations have been made by new friends I have met.....

The Owls from Jane, crocheted doilies from Lisa, folded stars from Sharon, patchwork heart from Mia...

I am in love with this little tree.....every little bit of it is special....

I will continue to add a few more bits, I've seen some lovely baubles made out of vintage wallpaper, got to try those! And I really, really want to do something with buttons, I'd love to make a button garland, but not sure how to do that one! And of course, I want to make some more Liberty Baubles inspired by Rachelle from Granny Chic!

The jury is still out on the cotton reel baubles...Mr Bea and the girls think they look silly! And of course....I've still to pop something on the top! I'm not sure wwhat that will be yet, but I'm sure an idea will come to me!

Thank you all so much for your comments on my last post....seems we are all loving the china!

Enjoy your Festive Preparations!

Ada :) x

  4. Absolutely gorgeous, I love it!! The blue you've binded it with is just right, I'd be tempted to leave it out all year round and I think the cotton reels just add to the vintage feel. I'd "land" a big, fat, red robin on top!! Lucey xx

  9. This is by far the best 'tree' I've seen anywhere in Webland - brilliant - it might not be green with pine needles, but it is the absolute epitome of the Christmas Spirit.

  11. Got to be honest, I wasn't sure about the whole lampshade tree idea to start with, but you've made it look wonderful Ada (and I'm not just saying that in a nice polite way, I really mean it looks the business). Cotton reels should stay in my opinion as they're part of the whole crafty dafty thing of it.

  20. Oh my goodness!! I was so thrilled to see your tree this morning!! Beautiful stuff :) It's just so YOU!! colours, everything! So nice to have the extra special ornaments collected together on this special tree (the lampshades are such perfect shapes). I think the thread spools are the perfect thing. I did see in a magazine someone made a tiny pin cushion from a spool, made as you would a yo-yo (suffolk puff to you), but keep the cardboard template in the yo-yo and push some batting above the cardboard, and then pull the basting thread snug. Then glue the little puff on top of the spool. Do you see this in your mind? I might make one myself and post about it...it was REALLY cute. And it would add to your little spool if you used Christmas fabric. Thanks for sharing this Ada, it's marvelous! :) Wendy
