Two New Friends.....

Last week I made two new friends. I have been looking at them from afar for a while now. I knew I would really enjoy their company, so last week I jumped in, threw caution to the wind, and introduced myself to them......

They are called Mr SG (staple gun!) and Mr GG (glue gun!). When Penny came over last week and we made this....

She was a very unloved ( and ugly....please don't let her know I said that, will you?).
Mr Bea and the girls thought I was mad when I brought her back....why do my family not trust my vintage vibe?!
She cost £3 from a car boot, about £6 to renovate, bargain! Mr SG and Mr GG will pay for their keep in no time!

They obviously both need to be treated with respect. Mr GG is very easy to use, and as long as you remember to wipe and glue quickly from your fingers, then the burns aren't too bad!
Now I have them living in my little crafty space, I am only limited by my imagination!!!

This week I've been surrounded by vintage Hollie Hobbie sheets, as well as others from my lovely, lovely stash...I love that little spot on her nose!

I can't show too much, they are to be sent off to the North Pole, and you never know who might be looking, do you!

I had a bit of an idea about using up these...

And turned some into one of this...

Not brilliant, and I don't think I will make any more, but you don't know until you try, do you? It created lots of mess!

I've been involved in a few swaps lately and I love them! It's got me thinking....the pennies aren't flowing too well here at the moment, a lot of people are really feeling the squeeze. I'm thinking of doing a 'Crafty Currency' swap in the New Year, something to lift our spirits after the Christmas Festivities!

I'm not 100% sure how it will work yet. There might be something that someone creates, you love it, but you can't afford, equally there might be something you make that they love. You could do a swap. Get my drift? a bit like the Multi- Coloured Swap Shop, can anyone remember that? (it was a 70s children's programme in the UK). I will have a think about it, let me know if you think it's a good idea, and how we could do it fairly!

Next week I have some more pressies to make, and I have an idea, Mr SG, Mr GG, where are you.....

I love bobble trim, I think it might be my latest addiction!

Thank you all SO MUCH for your overwhelming response to my Sarah Moore Christmas Tree. Mr GG really speeded up the process, thanks for the tip Sarah!
I think a bird on the top would be just right, now I have to wait for the right one to fly over to me! I could end up with a kitsch parrot, when I see it, I will know, unlike some I trust my vintage vibe!

Have a lovely weekend Everyone, we have Big Birthday celebrations, Mr Bea has reached another milestone! Oh and a REAL Christmas tree to decorate, the girls will be relieved!!!

  1. My glue gun and staple gun are old friends. It's so quick and easy to transform almost anything with them! Love the Craft Currency idea - peg bag anyone? I have to restrain myself when it comes to bobble trim, I'm rather too fond of it and would use it on everything! Enjoy your weekend, love Mrs RV x

  2. Lots of fun stuff here today! I do like the scrappy bauble...those kinds of things are fun to put together just on a whim. You've done a great remake of the chair with your new live-ins! I need to acquaint myself with a certain SG here in my own house. I just keep putting it off, but I love remade cushions on chairs - especially the beautiful fabric everyone adds - very inspiring! Have a great weekend with your family :) Wendy

  4. Ada, whaddya mean, it's not brilliant? I'm talking about the ball thingy made from scraps (why did I throw away the scraps from my recent cuttings - I'm a complete fool). How did you do it? For God's sake, let me know (sorry about the desperate and hysterical tone to this comment - deep breaths).

Your chair makeover is fabulous and I'm loving the use of ric-rac and lace trimming on your work. Pompom trimming is the bees knees isn't it? Have a lovely weekend. xx

    1. You make them the same as a wool one, just keep winding strips of left over fabric onto the cardboard ring. You end up with the finished Pom Pom quite uneven so you need to trim it, that's the messy bit! I used lots of shorter bits but I think it work better with thinner, much longer strips! :)

  5. Your glue gun is rather flash-looking! I've had a bit of an unhealthy obsession with glue guns since I first got to use one at school aged fourteen. They are handy for so many things.

Love the chair! I found a similar colour 70s sheet in a charity shop recently and am currently musing what to use it for.

Oh, and I'd love to play with pompom trim!

  7. Hi Ada, your new little helpers are brilliant. I can just see you wearing your floral hipster toolbelt ready to aim fire with your stapler and your glue gun! I'm quite tempted to try these myself. By the way I was thinking your christmas tree pictures would make nice postcards don't you think? Have a good weekend Heather x

  11. pompom trim, oh, my one littel weakness! (I lie, I lie, as you know there are more...)

I have to confess I'm not allowed near the glue gun these days due to an unfortunate set of circumstances which weren't ENTIRELY my fault, but, of course, cats cannot be held blameworthy for anything can they...and my staple gun shoots staples everywhere 'cept where its directed which probably serves me right for buying it in poundland!
