Hello My Deer.......

This is my little birthday pressie to myself! I have wanted, (no sorry needed) one of these little beauties, since I saw them on Maartje blog, Silly Old Suitcase. Well on my birthday, I saw she was having a little Sale, and I though, why not.....so I did!

It arrived all beautifully wrapped, oh how I love Parcels in the Post, especially beautifully wrapped parcels!

Whilst I popped this in my virtual basket I also popped these in too....you can NEVER have too many buttons!

Those eyes...lovely!

I've put it on my craft cupboard for now, I don't think it will be just for Christmas, I think it might just be an all year round Deer!

I'm always hanging things on handles, much to Mr Beas annoyance, don't tell him, but I do it all the more now that I know this fact, well a girls got to have a little fun somewhere!
Anyway, it's NOT THAT HARD opening a cupboard with something hanging from the handle is it, you just have to be A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL! Actually, it is perhaps a little big for there, but I'm enjoying looking at it!

Thank you Maartje for your creativity, you seem to have a endless supply of ideas running around in your head!

One of the things I want to do in 2013, is support this Crafty Community! I've decided that some of my earnings from my Etsy shop will go towards supporting other Crafty Souls enterprises, bit like a Crafty Tithe! I've already got some things in mind, Foxes in Boxes, Painted Buttons, more Fabric, and when I've made a purchase I shall share it on my Blog, promote their wares!

My (Almost) A Cushion, is now (Almost) A Blanket! I decided just to carry on....one thing I learnt this morning was to make sure you had the blanket the right side up before you start a new row, unfortunately I didn't discover this fact until almost the end! Never mind, it's easy to unravel and I need the practice!

Now for Crafty Currency Swap News....I've extended the joining date until next week, if like me you are in the mood for a good old sort out, you might just come across something you could swap!

People have offered up some lovely things-

Books:
CK Stitch
CK Make
Kirsty's Vintage Home
Liberty Book of Home Sewing

A large selection of jewellery beads, if you fancy a go at making some jewellery!

Raggy Doll, you choose which one!

Crochet fingerless gloves with flowers on (don't worry not me!)

Some lovely notecards, by a brilliant photographer!

Zips, Handmade notebooks, Frilly Scarf....lots of things! Please have a look but please could you leave your swap ideas on that post as it will help when I match up partners!

Patricia, from Pickworth, please send me your details, I haven't got them! You can email me, my address is on my profile page, thanks.

Talking of swaps Lisa is having one to celebrate 4 years of Blogging! It's a much easier, straightforward one! She's been around the Bloggy Block a few times, knows how to keep these things simple!

There's a button on her blog I'm supposed to use to promote it, however I'm not sure what to do with it! I know what to do with actual buttons, that's easy. You collect as many a possible, put them on display, occasionally tip them out to have a closer look, and if they're lucky they get popped onto something gorgeous! Easy! Technical Buttons, different story!

Thanks for all you New Year Wishes, I feel really good about this year! Juliab talked about a carousel ride, yes I'm definitely up for that, I think I might leave the big scary rides alone from now on! Something nice, gentle and pretty to look at, yep that's my option for 2013!

Bye for now!

Ada :) x

p.s. Etsy Shop now reopened! Fabric nearly on, but might be next week when the girls are back at school!

  2. Good morning Ada. Day two of the new book (year), yet to be written. So much potential. What to do first? Scrap? Sew? Organize? Have another cup of coffee and read some more blogs? Ah yes....

  6. I must confess that I'm a terror for hanging treasures on door handles... but then being the clumsy one who knocks them off! Your deer is very much worth being extra careful for though. Wow, your blanket is coming along at a fair lick, I'm still trying to perfect the basics of a single crochet!

    1. Give this one a go Anna, the trickiest bit is the circle then it's really easy, you only have to count to 3! Just make sure it's the right way up before you start! :) x

  7. What an adorable little deer!
You've done so well with the crochet, one of my nearly blankets has had to stop as I ran out of the special yarn I used and the shop I bought it from has stopped stocking it :-( Too big for a cushion, too small for a blanket.

  9. Deer me! What a lovely little fella, most definitely not just for Christmas. And yes, I too hang things off knobs and handles...hearts, mainly, or little fabric angels. And why not??

    1. Exactly, just have a word with Mr Bea for me Lynne! He doesn't get cushions either, so if you can tackle both subjects that will be great! :) x

  11. The deer is so cute. You made me chuckle with the handles comments - my hubby also gets very cross with such decorations. What a response to your crafty swap! Not being an expert in any one crafty area I am a bit shy about offering my wares and don't know what to make...will have to give it some thought!

  12. I absolutely love my deer which is a sitting down one. She fell off the mantlepiece and was saved from the woodburner by the speed of Rosey. She's since told me off for overstuffing the mantlepiece and not let me put it back there.

Tx for mentioning my swap too Ada. Sorry to clash with you, but I'd been planning it rather than a giveaway once I hit the b'day. Should all be ok as different themes.

  17. Love your deer. I have a stuffed corduroy deer I bought under the premise of giving it to my baby daughter but strangely that deer is still living atop my sewing table! Love your swap plans, I won't commit this time due to impending reno but very interested in following it all. mel x

    1. It's called stealth purchasing, you buy for your children but ecretly for yourself, I've acquired quite a few lovely note books this way, just don't tell the girls! :) x

  21. Love your little deer! To me a cupboard without something hanging on it looks somehow bare :) Love the pretty parcel too. And your crochet blanket is looking gorgeous....such lovely colours!

  22. Thanks for lovely comment. What a pain that tray turned out to be! so many coats of paint and still not very happy with the finish. I took the back off to paper it as couldn't face the fiddly cutting but it broke and I ended up having to put a piece of ply on!! Hey ho. Did you recognise some of the papers?

  23. And where else WOULD you hang such deer treasures?! My husband is the same ... I have 2 of my gran's ancient pot holders that irritate him so much that I finally hung them high on a rarely used cupboard handle. I worried for their safety when he'd yank them off in irritation :O Your crochet king-sized(?) blanket is amazing!! I'm stunned at the progress you've made in your skills after the little flowers ... so nice Ada :)

I'm going to give your swap a miss this time since I've only just signed up for the one and I don't want to deal with more than that right now. I'll keep an eye out for another later :) AND wishing you the happiest birthday (sorry I missed that post ... I was probably lost somewhere on my laptop at the time) ... hope it was a happy day for you!! take care XOXO Wendy

  24. I'm a door handle hanger too! Thankfully my hubby doesn't seem to mind (not that he's ever said anyway).
And Ada, you are now officially a crocheter! Well done you! You've learned it really quickly; I'm impressed.
I'm gonna have to check out the swap again, I did read it briefly before Christmas. I may have some bits knocking around as I am attempting to de-clutter my craft stash. No mean feat that!
