I Wish I Was An Octopus.......

If I was an octopus, I could.......make my quilt, (look at those corners, yay!)

AND I could play with printers trays and wallpapers.......

AND I could crochet away to my hearts content........

And I could indulge in my newest hobby, needle felting.....

Actually, make that a centipede! There are so many things I want to do, all at the same time! Unfortunately I haven't enough hands, or energy!

On Saturday I spent the day with like minded crafty souls learning the art of needle felting, just look what greeted us as we walked into the room!

A HUGE basket full of yarny candy floss, I almost fainted! I really enjoyed the needle felting, I almost felted myself into a trance, that was until I pricked my finger, the needles are soooo sharp! I definitely want to do more of this, when I have the time (and energy!).

Last week, the first of my swaps arrived.......

Thank you so much Gillian, little Bea loves it!

She wants to know why I can't do stuff like this!!!

I've also been lucky enough to receive these....

Thank you Rosie, these will come in very handy!

I'm amazed everyday by the generosity of this Bloggy community I am part of here. Whether, it's advice on something crafty, support because someone's feeling fed up, or just to share funny stories, there is such a sense of belonging. It might be different from the relationships we have with our family and friends, but it's still so important to many of us.

After several years of ill health, I'm trying very hard to get my life back on track. This is taking up a lot of my energy, so whilst I'm readjusting, I might not be able to post so much, please bare with me!

Bye for now!

Ada :) x

Etsy news....I'm putting a few more bundles in my shop, these are just from my own collection of sheets, when they're gone, they're gone! I'm needing to make room on my shelves! I've also reduced the price of some wallpapers, again....need the room!!!

  1. Oh to be an octopus! I know that feeling far too well. There is always a list running in my head of things I want to make / do / try - needle felting is one of them. Good on you for making it to a class!
As much as craft is wonderful and blogging is important too, your health is the biggest priority by far so carry on looking after yourself Ada Bea and put your energy where its needed x

  2. You've been very busy for a non- centipede! :)

Your corners are brilliant....wish I could get them so perfect.

Needlefelting is looking very appealing..maybe one day when I turn into an octopus I'll be able to try it.

  3. The needle felting bug is stabbing it's way around my house too. My eldest went to a craft workshop the weekend before last and came home with a bundle of fluff and a needle that duly broke. I bought her new needles on Saturday and have hardly had a peep out of her since! The mini pastry cutters have gone up to her room and every so often she emerges with little hearts and flowers. After I dropped her at school this morning I realised she was clutching a carrier bag with the fluff and the rather lethal looking tool in it!
    Have a good week

  4. Oh yes - that WOULD be great! One tentacle for each of my unfinished projects and one to spare for something new! Enjoy those books whilst taking a step back and resting up a bit to regain your energy...

  8. Ada, I absolutely adore all your wonderful sheet projects. They are all so beautiful! Corgi? I came running. I really didn't know anything about this type of dog until all this Jubilee business (I'm always the last to get on the bandwagon) What a cute sweatshirt for your daughter. What a lot of work, beautiful! Elizabeth

  10. I can utterly understand how you find craft a great therapy. I do to. It has got me through some of my hardest times. It's brilliant to completely focus on a project and to turn illness into something beautiful and tactile.
Take it easy on yourself while you are recovering. I hope that you feel better soon.
    Rosie xx
PS Glad you like the books.

  12. There's no stopping you Ada ... needle felting looks like a lot of fun, although I've never tried it. Love the little felted heart! Debbie Stoller taught me to knit through her knitting book :) Hope you're feeling better soon, at least crochet (& knitting) can be done in a comfy chair with your feet up :) take care, Wendy

  15. I so agree about being an octopus but even then I do not think I would have enough arms maybe a centipede is being a bit greedy though! Patchwork looking good and love the needle felting, I can see you investing in an embellishing machine, I have one, do not use it as much as I should as lacking those octopus arms but it is a great machine. Mind you to do little things hand felting is fine,

  25. I too have the octopus syndrome Ada, so much to do, so little time :o) Sometimes I lay in bed and cannot sleep for the desire to be making, totally silly I know !
Hope you can pace yourself and keep that in line with your health too. As for your swaps, my goodness that corgi is too heavenly, wow. Oh, and such a generous couple of brilliant crochet books. Gosh , the generosity is truly amazing in the land of blog, I really value it too xox I'm not sure if I'm going to paint and decorate my newly bought old printers tray, I have been tempted to do a little bit of paper background sticking similar to yours...hmmm. Decisions, decisions xox P

  26. It is a wonderful community to be a part of isn't it.

And from one who has also struggled with health issues for years and who knows both that it does us good to try and get some semblance of normality back into our lives but also how easy it is to overdo it, take it steady my friend

PS I'm glad we only have two arms, knitting a sweater with more would be so tedious! ;)

  27. "In an octopus' garden, in the shade..." Oh yes, I often have that feeling. I do think of you as an amazingly productive and vibrant crafty person though, so I'm sure you're more than halfway to octopus status already. And I'm desperate to try needle felting! x

  28. Yes octopus arms would come in very handy! I'm excited to see your needle felting creations. Have a happy week, Hazel x

  30. You're not alone Ada - I'm all over the shop too. Lots of little projects on the go and more I want to start. I can't seem to commit to one project at a time. On the plus side - there will be an abundance of beautiful makes being completed at the same time that you will be able to show us. I love Gillians top - very cute :-) Take Care Ada, hope you feel better soon. Mel x

  31. You don't need another 4 arms and legs, you already get an amazing number of projects completed. I have decided i probably need to clone myself, at least 6-8 times in order to fulfil all my mothering, work, wifely, renovating, creating and gardening obligations and dreams! Until then i will just puddle duck along in bits and bobs, doing what I can. Love visiting your colourful blog. mel x

  32. yes lots of crafts there! you will never be at a loss for things to do. I like needle felting. Have you seen the garland of felted hearts in the recent mollie makes? I'm quite tempted, although I'm not sure where my needles are now. Hope you are okay. I will hop over and have a look at your shop now, Heather x

  33. There are definitely not enough hours in the day - or tentacles on an octopus - to get everything done! I haven't tried needle felting yet but love the work over on Marmalade Rose's blog - well worth a visit x
