It All Started With A Sticky Jar Of Honey..........

It all started with a sticky jar of honey this morning, as I was getting breakfast ready, yuk! When I looked at the jar it had honey all down the side. Now I'm not blaming anyone else, I'm the only one who has honey, so I know I'm the culprit- I hold my hands up high, yes, even with sticky honey all over them!

When I looked at the shelf, that the jar had been sitting on, I noticed the sticky mess.....then I looked at the whole shelf......then the whole cupboard!

Yikes! Double yikes! (This photo is slightly out of focus....thank goodness!)

So what's a girl to do?

Get out the Vintage Wallpaper of course!

I've just spent a couple of hours happily sorting, snipping, and stapling the wallpaper to the shelves.....and the inside of the door!

I had Larder Cupboard Love before, now I love him even more! His name is Lionel, pease don't tell anyone, my family already think I'm mad if they know I've called him a name....well, I'd never hear the last of it!

Does anyone else call their furniture names, or is it just I who is a little CRAZY!

I was tempted to leave him empty, that way he won't ever get messy again, there is logic in there, somewhere....

But the sticky jar of honey HAS to live somewhere, doesn't it?!

It dark and dismal here today, not a good day for photo taking. Anyhow, I had a go at pic monkey, I'm not sure I've really edited them that well, hopefully I will improve with practice....but please, nobody hold your breath will you, while I get the hang of it!

Thanks for everyone who's visited me on Facebook, I now have enough 'likes' to warrant 'insights'.....I have NO IDEA what that means but I do rather like the sound of 'insights'!

I know that I now need to visit your Facebook sites, and press the 'like' button, and I will, just as soon as I get my head around it all, again, please don't hold your breath! Facebook, pic monkey, using photos from my iPad, my head is SPINNING!

Thank you, as always, for your lovely comments, I read them all, I'm sorry I'm a bit rubbish at replying to them on here but I'm trying to use my blogging time visiting as many of you as I can, I hope you understand!

I'm sorting out the giveaway with my friend for next week. I want to support her in her new business venture, an online Perfume Shop. The business has been going for years, but she's just branching out via the Internet....you can see the site on Perfume People, please pop over if you get the chance.

All the perfumes are the real McCoy, but at discounted prices, I'm going to be offering a vintage gift wrapping service too, and we are hoping to put a vintage vibe on the web site.....gotta spread that vintage love, don't you agree?!

Bye for now!

Ada :) x

  3. What a cute cupboard! Hope you find a solution in keeping the sticky honey at bay. Don't want to spoil that lovely paper.

My head spins with all this technical marlarky on a daily basis. I have been blogging for a fair few years and it still mystifies me.

  6. Lovely lovely lovely and cheery too. I've got plans to cover stuff in wallpaper (thank you my dear) but I just haven't had the time - too busy playing with my vintage sheets! No I don't call our furniture names but we all have our little idiosyncrasies!

  7. It all looks lovely now and doesn't it make you feel good afterwards?! I did the same thing recently ... found a bag of old rotten potatoes at the back of the cupboard and ended up emptying and sorting every shelf, basket and cupboard in the whole kitchen. I moved a few things around too and still can't find where everything is now! M x

  11. I have a cabinet of drawers called "Elmer" It is a blue print cabinate with 6 drawers and when I got it, on each drawer was written, "Elmer 1" "Elmer 2" "Elmer 3" etc. So he was named by a previous owner but it suits him.
You are on FaceBook? Welcome to the dark side. I live on FaceBook. Only visit in the bloggy world. I am rushing right over to find you.

  13. Lionel is certainly jazzed up... there must be something in the air .. I investigated the root veg part of the store cupboard and found a multitude of wizened black shapes and various things merrily sprouting away yesterday... I do rather enjoy a good sort out! Cx

  20. I've been on Facebook a while now but still have no clue what insights are! Loving what you have done to Lionel. He looks wonderful. I'm now feeling rather ashamed of my larder cupboard which is definitely in need of de-stickying and a good tidy up. Covering the shelves in vintage wallpaper would be a step too far for my other half. We give our cars names. Does that count? Have never named any of my furniture but you've got me thinking now. 26. Hi Ada. I had the same problem as you, sticky honey, so I found a gorgeous little tray and I put all my spreads on it, in the cupboard, so that I can just whip the tray out and clean it every now and then. It is also convenient to pop on the table at breakfast time and everyone can find the spread they want. Love your blog x

  27. That is a lovely array of colours you have there! I love the use of your wallpaper - better than just being rolled up forever and a day.
I confess that some of the words here were lost on me - pic monkey? I will ask the children to translate....and get myself updated!
I have a similar problem with sticky Marmite - once the lid comes off it never really goes back on straight again...
    Take care
    Best wishes

  28. Hey Ada, Lionel is looking very smart after his makeover.......
I never thought of naming furniture, but now you've put the idea in my head, I see my furniture in a whole new light........
FB insights sound very professional but it's interesting to see what's going on in your own little FB world.

  29. Thank goodness for a jar of messy honey ;) Lionel looks great, and it was inevitable that he would eventually succumb to your creativity. All your honey jar (is there a name for him/her?)needs is a pretty china plate underneath to catch the next drips. Wendy

  31. honey must be one of the worst things to have to clean up, very sticky, raw eggs are another problem. Your cupboard looks lovely with your wallpaper in it, sorry no I do not have names for my furniture, seem to have enough trouble remembering people`s names!

  32. Lionel looks fabulous Ada! If he lived in my house I think I would have spent the whole day opening him up and staring at his handsome new shelves. Honey has to stay in the fridge here because of the ants over Summer but the pantry still never stays tidy with all the kids in there.

The only item of furniture with a name in our home is a sofa known as the "Eating Chair". It is a 2nd hand deco club lounge and it literally 'eats' things - we have lost glasses, crochet hooks, knitting needles, lego, coins, etc Things fall down the back of it and then slip through a crack to the bottom and it is impossible to retrieve due to its construction. Weird I know :-)

  35. Cupboard love! Lionel looks the bees knees now. We have a pot plant called Higgins who's been here for years, does that count as naming furniture? And anything with wheels gets a name, be it car, bike or office chair ... the current incumbent is known as (sorry to lower the tone) Numbum ;)
