Hello Everyone!
Would you like a Happy Home?
I was very lucky on Mothers Day to receive three very lovely books....
It feels very indulgent to be treated to three books....but it was Mothers Day....and I am worth it! I thought I would share these with you over this next week, starting with Happy Home by Charlotte Hedeman Gueniau (founder of Rice-the Danish homewares company)
Well I have to say, this book is 'right up my street'! It's a mix of all the things I love, colour, pattern, vintage and new!
It is indeed HAPPY!
I'm a very visual person, images move me, they can literally make my heart skip a beat......
There are lots of heart skipping moments in this book for me!
Loved the light shades.....
So colourful....
Beautiful workspaces.......
And a little bit of sunshine......
(Oh I wish............)
I'd love my home to be a Happy Home, it is in fact, a home very much in need of some TLC (tender, loving care!). Lots of decoration is required, I'm gearing myself up for it! I know it will look lovely when I've finished, but to be honest, my heart sinks at the thought of the mess, disruption, and how it will zap my energy!
But it will get done, one bit at a time, and I will share with you as each room is done! We have a ceiling that needs pulling down in our kitchen, and walls that need to be plastered...wish I had a magic wand!
Thanks those of you who have 'liked' me on Facebook, I have NO IDEA what I'm doing on there, I've tried to go on others Facebook sites and like them, but nothing seems to happen....I will get there eventually!
This week I've been making something new, from memories...
My friend gave me lots of bits of fabric that used to belong to her Gran, it's her birthday, so I took some of the scraps and made some lavender bags for her. Each bit of fabric holds a memory, her Grans apron, perhaps some curtains, a cushion her Gran once made. Her Gran was a great needle woman, the lace is all from her stash too, luckily for me she never threw anything away! I hope she likes them.
Now, this is my next project, my friend has asked me to revamp this 1970s dolls cradle for her young daughter. So I have paintbrush in hand, and I'm whipping up a little quilt to go with it! Busy, Busy!
Have a great week, I've not forgot the giveaway, but I did forget to pick up the fragrance yesterday.....will organise for later in the week!
Bye for now, off to catch up will everyone's blogs.....
Ada :) x

ReplyDeleteYes, she did love them! :) x
DeleteOoo another interior book for my wish list! That list keeps growing. I do have a bit of an obsession with homes and decor. Its infections too as my youngest seems to be going the same way!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely book full of the sort of images that I like to see.
I am with you though on the actual decorating. We are just about to embark on redoing our kitchen in the next week. I cant wait for it to be done but cue the chaos! lol.
I rubbish with facebook too.

I think kitchens and bathrooms are the worse, so much disruption! :) x
DeleteI am always on the look out for books with lots of eye candy. That one looks particularly yummy. I'll have to add that to my ever increasing list. Will you be letting us know what you think of Selina Lake's pastel book? Please! I loved her Homespun book but am worried that a WHOLE book about pastels may not be my cup of tea. Your lavender bags are gorgeous. I love the one with the girl's face. xx
ReplyDeleteHello Ada!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Mother's Day to you! (Ours is in May in France.) I get the feeling that your home is a happy place already :-) I've just popped over to like you on Facebook. I was totally new and confused too in September and couldn't work out why I couldn't like other pages from my business page and then I opened my dormant personal page and 'managed' my business page from it. Once this was done I could like anyone I fancied! Gosh, I hope that was clear!
Stephanie
Thanks Stephanie, I will try that! :) x
Deletebeautiful trio of books!!!!
ReplyDeletecurious to see what you are going to do with the dolls cradle!!
xxx Ale
I ordered this book a few days ago, I can't wait for it to arrive! I also ordered the Pretty Pastel one and I'm hoping not to be disappointed by it as I loved Homespun Vintage so much. I shall be interested to hear what you think of it. I have also ordered the new Annie Sloan and Sarah Moore books so lots of visual inspiration coming my way! Love the little lavender bags, such a thoughtful gift. Love, Mrs RV x
ReplyDeleteGosh lotsa of treats there! This one is very much in the homespun style too :) x
DeleteSuch gorgeous books - what lovely gifts. Look forward to reading the rest of your reviews and seeing your little cradle makeover!
ReplyDeleteM xxxx
Fab books, Ada, and two of them I would have in a heartbeat. In fact, Lucy (Attic 24) has just blogged about the Happy Home and I checked it out.....lovely, but a bit pricey at the moment, especially as I would like the Pastel one as well! I will bide my time and perhaps treat myself when I've saved all that money being organised and frugal!!!!!!! Lx
ReplyDeleteMy daughter paid for one out of her money, Mr Bea the rest, very indulgent! :) x
DeleteLovely book. I reviewed Pretty Pastel Style the other day, and I really like it, I will have to think about getting this as well though as it seems right up my street. You have been very productive recently!
ReplyDeleteOoh pretty x
ReplyDeleteLucky you!! That book looks like a must have :-)
ReplyDeleteI love a good inspirational book, just takes a little longer to actually do any of the decorating! That baby cot is fantastic x
ReplyDeletelovely books- I LUUUUUUURVE colour, it makes me so happy and cheers everything up. I'm not very good with the sludgy Farrow & Ball and Annie Sloan paints that are so fashionable- I love pinks and yellows, lilacs and reds!
ReplyDeleteOur kitchen is about to start a re-vamp, its been sunshine yellow for many years and I'm thinking now about russet. . .I know exactly what you mean about the dust/mess/disorganisation/energy drain, but here's hoping it'll all be worth it in the end!
Well they do say, no pain, no gain! :) x
DeleteOoh lucky you to receive 3 lovely books. This one looks fab. Can't wait to see the rest. Fiona x
ReplyDeleteOoh Ada that Happy Home book looks divine. I love the RICE products, they are so cheery and colourful. I am sure you will do a superb job with your DIYing. Our kitchen has been incomplete for a year now and I know how you feel needing to face these things "head on" and just doing it!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your make over of the little cot, I know it will be charming and gorgeous. You have the midas touch ! xox Penelope
Hi Ada, the books look very tempting, especially the happy home. If I've been a good girl perhaps I will let myself have a copy in the not too distant future! I bet the quilt is going to be sweet, Heather x
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet books to receive and a Happy Mother's Day to you! Can't wait to see your cradle and the quilt! have fun! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteLucky you, those look like really lovely books! I'm definitely a visual person as well. Books need to have lots of gorgeous pictures to keep me interested.
ReplyDeleteHouse renovating is exhausting but the end results are so rewarding. It's just difficult trying to keep tidy while doing it! Looking forward to seeing what you do with your place, I'm sure it will be a VERY happy, colourful home.
I do like my colour that's for sure! :) x

The cradle will look great with your special 'make-over' touch ... have a great week Ada (don't let the house reno get you down, one room at a time and you'll be finished before you know it). Wendy

ReplyDeleteHi Ada
ReplyDeleteOh, this books are indeed lovley, you receive on Mothers Day. One of them, Happy Home, I have also ordered. But know it's three weeks ago. It seems to be very difficult to get this in Switzerland. The memory lavander bags are so pretty, and I'm sure, your friend will love it. Give you sorrow and have a nice week.
Moni x
The wait will make it even more delicious! :) x
DeleteHow weird, I literally just put that book in my cart on Amazon and got to the final confirm order page and closed down the tab as I had a twinge of guilt for spending £20 on another book. I may as well have ordered it tho as I've been lusting after it for ages now and I know I'll get it eventually. Then I come to your blog and there it is, tempting me AGAIN. I think I shall order it because I'm heavily pregnant and haven't once made a fuss or moaned at all. Honestly... And my vagina is going to be traumatised again in a few short weeks so I think that pretty much seals the deal. I deserve a bloody book at the very least. X
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely could not agree with you more, get the book and still down and devour it at every opportunity....while you can! :) x
Deleteeverthing about this is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely lovely collection of books....xoxox
ReplyDeleteMy husband would call that 'One of those eye candy books!' It does look interesting :D
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the decorating ... just changing the use of the one room and doing it up has been causing chaos here for weeks now. I keep telling myself there is life after DIY!
Wow! That book sure is happy! I love it... adds to amazon wish list, emails to husband! Have a great week, Hazel xxx
