Well, as far as family holidays go, this one ticked all the boxes!!!
We had the beaches, scenery, fantastic accommodation.....and wonderful sunny weather! Brilliant!
I fell in love with the quaint little towns and villages. The houses made of stone, their gardens packed with flowers....nowhere ever seemed too crowded, too busy....just the way we like it!
Lyme Regis is just the most perfect little seaside town.
I got caught up in the detail of the house and buildings, so much to take in, so much individuality.....the windows, doors, mouldings, (think my family got fed up of me say "Ooooh look at that!")
I loved, loved, loved the colours too.....
Rows of beach huts, not as elaborate as the ones in Suffolk and Norfolk, but so colourful!
Oh and the boats, bobbing along by the waters edge.....I love boats!
We drove all along the Dorset and Devon coast, visiting little coastal towns, stopping off here and there, no plans, just doing as we pleased. Lots of lovely shops, more of that next time....and little purchases too, of course!!!
The picture above are of Hive Beach which was just stunning! Great cafe too!
Lots of wildlife, from the fantastic flowers to beautiful butterflies....we fed the birds each morning and watched an array of little beauty's, too quick for me and my camera, but the squirrel obliged! We also had rabbits, deer and a pheasant called Bart visit us each day!
The coastline is just amazing...we searched for fossils....founds a couple of tiny ones too but no whole skeleton this time!
These were the views from our holiday home...we looked out onto the most magnificent valley, the bottom right was taken at 5am, watching the sunrise whilst everyone slept, hooking away was amazing!
Talking of hooking away....I've brought a little vintage basket (or two, well actually three but who's counting!) to store my ever growing yarn collection! I hooked away, on the beach, in the car (not easy, especially around corners!) and looking out to my wonderful view!
Well My Lovelies, that's all for now, I'm afraid this wasn't planned as I hoped, not really my thing, and I know there will be loads I've missed out! I will do another post.....on shopping, lovely little shops, National Trust, and meeting special people!
We are off to Wales tomorrow so I will be quiet once again, if you are new here, Welcome....I hope you are enjoying your visits!
Thanks all who are popping over to Instagram to say hi, I won't be able to post any pictures whilst we are away as there will be no Internet! (I can't post from my phone)
Oh and I'm sorry my posts look a bit squashed, Blogsy seems to be squashing everything up and I'm not sure why!
Bye for now!

ReplyDeleteNext time! :) x
DeleteLyme is stunning isn't it. I grew up just a day trip away so I know it well. Summer Sundays were often all about choosing between Lyme, Beer, Kilve or the Quantock hills. I do miss Somerset, Devon and Dorset, now I come to think of it, even though I moved away from the area to go to uni at 18.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Wales ... I wonder how close to me you'll be ;)
Love all the colors and motives. Inspiering. Really! And somsummer! Love the doors and flags. Great shots! Have a lovely summer!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting! :) x
DeleteSounds & looks wonderful; I love a good beach cafe too! I hope the sunny weather soon comes back!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like such a wonderful holiday and I absolutely love the look of Lyme. My only experience of Dorset was breaking my ankle sea cliff climbing in Pool and although it was a great climbing trip to start with the rest was pretty blurred. Maybe it is time to go back and take the kids. Can't wait what you splurged on whilst being down there. Enjoy Wales, hope the holiday high continues for many more days xoxo
ReplyDeleteNo cliff climbing for me! :) x
DeleteAh yes it is a most lovely part of the world and you had the best of the weather too - perfecto! Glad that you having a lovely time - can I also say that I am envious of such perfect feet!
