Fun, Food and Fabulous, Fabulous, Friends.......

I feel very lucky to have collected some very, very special friends over the years. An eclectic mix of wonderful women. Women you perhaps wouldn't necessarily put together, but who I call friends, from different walks in life, different backgrounds, different careers, all different, but all special in their own individual way. I include my two wonderful sisters on my list of friends too, I'm lucky I have them.

We've supported each other through lots of crisis and dramas over the years, redundancies, relationship difficulties, losing parents, illnesses, being parents and all that life can throw at you.

There's been lots of highs too, births and birthdays to celebrate, new relationships, new careers, new homes.....lots and lots of good times.

I don't think I've ever needed my friends as much as I've needed them over the last few years. As I've adjusted to the challenges given to me, they've been there, offering support, a shoulder to cry on, an arm to lean on. When I had a particularly nasty MS relapse, one friend held my hand each day as I walked my girls to school, on the days she worked, her mother 'accidentally' just happened to be outside my house as I left for school.

Practical friends, loopy friends, hilarious friends......those I can talk yarn and fabric to, and they don't get bored. Those I can talk about Extra Special children too, and they completely understand. Those friends who understand what it's like to watch your mum fade away. Those fabulous friends who have me in thoughts, and know just when to ring.

Husbands are fab too, Mr Bea has many good qualities, but there's nothing quite like the company of women, their friendships, their understanding and their humour!

Last weekend I was treated to a fabulous night away in a beautiful hotel, with two great friends. Three of us having fun, eating delicious food, (champagne might have entered the equation too, but I won't go into too much detail!) and enjoying each others company.

I might never be able to treat friends like this, I would if I could, but I can offer my friendship, my support, a shoulder to cry on, and an arm to lean on.....when needed. I can be there to laugh with, share a creation with, motivate (in other words kick up the derrière!).

Thank you my very special friends for a fabulous time.......

And then there's You.....my wonderful Virtual Friends, you offer a different type of friendship. It's a friendship I value very much. I cherish your comments and your support of this little blog of mine.

I make no apologies for the sentiment in this post, nothing wrong with a bit of honest sentiment!!!!!

Hello to those new readers, it's been lovely to hear from you. And don't forget my giveaway ends tonight, I hadn't anticipated how many of you would enter.....think it will take me the weekend to count you all and pick a winner!

Hope you all have your own Fabulous Weekend and if you're lucky enough to have a Fabulous Friend, let them know!!!

Bye for now,

Ada :) xxx

  1. last year, after a particularly tough time I did a tea party for my wonderful, eclectic band of supportive girlfriends- over the years some of them hadn't met eachother, and it was fabulous! I set the table in the sitting room cos there was a bit more room and we had chammy, scones and dainty cakes. We're very lucky to have such beautiful friends to share the good times and carry us through the worst.

  14. A really lovely post Ada and one that resonate so well with me. I have learnt over the last four years just who my friends are and not, it is funny how difficult situations in life bring this to your attention. I really miss seeing mine often as they all work and life is busy, but I know they are there and that says it all. I also feel that the virtual friends I have made have made such a difference to my life, I don't think people will ever understand. It looks like you have had a really wonderful couple of nights away and how lovely to it looked!! Enjoy your weekend xoxo

  18. Beautiful post, Ada. Women friends are truly special. Having grown up surrounded by men, I've had special male friends for years. Now at 62, I'm just learning how wonderful it is to have women friends in my life. I count you as a special friend also. Love to you, Ada.

    Hugs,
    Sharon
