Most of you know how much I love my vintage sheets, their cheerful colours and happy designs.......but I'm just a little bit in love with Liberty too. Well actually it's more than a little.
After saving 'small change' for almost a year, I had enough to buy myself a whole rainbow of Liberty.....and so this lovely lot is destined to become my Liberty quilt.
I've been busy on Pinterest, collecting images on my Liberty Love board, musing over ideas. I'm not going to make even one snip until I'm absolutely sure what design I'm happy with.
I made a pledge to myself this year, not to purchase any more fabric or yarn, until I'd used up a significant amount of the stash I'd already acquired. And so far, I'm doing well.....I'm using up my yarn on several projects, and I've enough vintage sheets to last me a lifetime!!!
It's easy to get overwhelmed with Stuff, things you collect, things you think you need, but in the end it can feel a bit suffocating. So I've started the process of looking through my 'stuff', editing out stuff I don't actually need......it's going to take a while, but it feels good.
We've had a great weekend. It's birthday celebrations this week, my daughter is growing fast.....it's a privilege to watch her growing into such a gorgeous young woman, but sometimes I feel just like pressing the pause button! We've been to the cinema together, girly shopping and lunch at our favourite Italian. This week it's a birthday tea with family and then later in the week pizza with friends. Small celebrations, with close family and friends, just as she likes it.
I will be back later in the week with my Positive January Post.....bet Liberty will be in there somewhere........
Have a good week,
Amanda :) xxx

DeleteThe fabric looks divine, when I have lovely fabric like this I find it really hard some times to cut it...I promised my self this year I would finish the project I am working on before I start something new. On with a crochet blanket for our bed, but the sewing B starts tomorrow, it will make me want to sew something...
ReplyDeleteAmanda xx
I'm not tempted by the sewing B......dressmaking sends shivers down my spine! ;) xxx

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your girly shopping and lunch at your favourite Italian as much as you can because the grow so incredibly fast. My daughter is 25 at this moment and I cherish every moment when she comes home (it happens once in a while).
Your cat looks very much the same as our Lou. Does he also have a Dali-moustache.

Hi Brigitte.....I'm just wondering how long I will last out for too, I really don't need anymore purchases! ;) xxx
DeleteOh the liberty! My darling girl bought me back a Liberty pack when she travelled all the way to London from Australia with a school friend. I am still musing, because as you say it is too precious to hack into nilly willy. At this stage I am looking to literally just putting the pieces together....no cutting, just big slabs of fabric......or not!! Girls do grow into woman and the relationship shifts but it still is wonderful, take it from an older mum. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope when my girl grows big enough, she too will bring me bundles of Liberty!!! ;) xxx
DeleteGorgeous fabrics! They're going to look fantastic in a quilt - special fabric needs a special project.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Jo! :) xxx
DeleteI hope that the birthday celebrations are wonderful!! The Liberty fabrics that you chose are all sooooo beautiful, it is very easy to see why you - or anyone else! - love them so much. You will make beautiful things with them for sure!! xx

DeleteI loved reading your post and enjoyed all the super photos. I have made the same resolution every New Year for the past few years and I am steadily working through all my scraps. However I still have to buy new fabric for backings(although I do piece some of them) so of course more scraps appear!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure my scraps breed in the drawer! ;) xxx
