A Community Rallies...

The one thing I love about this crafty community, is the love and support it gives out in times of sadness, and loss. I've felt this so many times first hand, and I've witnessed it too, many, many times.

Last year I was shocked and saddened to hear about the loss of one of our community, Vanessa Cabban. I saw the ripples spread across our community, and although I didn't know Vanessa, I felt deeply saddened by her death.

Lisa, of Bobo Bun felt this loss too, perhaps more so as she knew Vanessa. Her feelings however didn't just remain feelings, they propelled her into action. First there was an online memorial for Vanessa on Instagram, many, many people got involved. Then Lisa developed the idea of a crochet blanket, in Vanessa's trademark colours. Women from far and wide offered to crochet squares, myself included. This blanket is to be raffled for the charity Mental Health Foundation.

You can find details on how to buy raffle tickets on the Just Giving website, (click on the name for the link) almost half of the £500...this is great, but I know just how generous this wonderful community is, so I'm sure we can do much better than that! Just cli

So my plea is this, please pop over to the Just Give website, and do just that, give! Easy...each ticket costs £2 not a lot in the scheme of things, but could make all the difference to someone who is struggling with their mental health.

So a big thank you to Lisa, and the team she's put together, who have worked hard to make this possible, turning an idea, into a reality!

Thank you,

Amanda :) xxx

  7. This is such a lovely idea. I hadn't heard about Vanessa until I saw your post on IG and then disappeared down a rabbit hole on the internet reading all about it. There really is such a supportive community out there and it's so lovely and uplifting to see people rally together to help. Thanks for being a part of it and thanks for sharing. I've got my ticket xxx
