The Post That Should Have Been About Florence!

Hello My Lovelies,

This should have been a post all about Florence, a post where I shared my photos with you. My hubbie and I have spent hours...and hours...and hours, trying to work out how to get them from my iPhone and onto my iPad, but to no avail, so sorry peeps, you will just have to trust me, it was wonderful! Maybe one day we will work it out, but don't hold your breath...we are both not very technical!

So I thought I'd update you on what's been going on...

Well, I've finished my Granny Stripe blanket, just a dozen or so ends to sew in...and I've started a cushion with the leftover yarn. Unfortunately I think I will only have enough to do one side, so I will need to sew it onto a piece of fabric to make a cushion!

It's been a frustrating few days, I thought I had recovered from my trip fairly well, but have been hit by the most awful, mind and body numbing exhaustion, it hit me like a sledge hammer on Friday, and I've been forced to rest, rest, rest. My balance completely went...this is so annoying as I my head I've got so much to do! But anyway, there's nothing I can do but listen to what my body tells me.

Saying that...

Feeling slightly better balanced today, I was very naughty and built this, very nearly killed myself in the process, something that should have been so easy took me forever. But it's up now, and all I have to do is decide where to put it!

I'm going to get some graph paper and map out my garden, planning where the raised beds will go, a greenhouse (hopefully), and maybe even some chickens! This is a long term plan however, not something that will happen quickly...but if I can decide where these two beds will go, then I can plant my overwinter veg in them. Once these babies are filled with compost, I ain't moving them ;)

This beautiful butterfly has kept landing on me today, I kept wondering if it was my Mum, popping by to say hello, checking up on me...knowing how tired I was. It's a nice, comforting thought...

Will be back with more goings on later in the week...well that's if I can get going!

(Hubbie has just informed me we need an adaptor, then we can transfer the photos...so maybe you will get to see them afterall!)

Toodle Pip,

Amanda :) xxx

  3. What a gorgeous and unusual raised bed. I'd love a greenhouse and chickens too, although I don't see the first one happening until the footballers have grown, many years from now. I roll chickens around in my mind quite regularly though. In the meantime I shall watch your space and see if you get some. Sorry you've been hit with exhaustion. You've had a busy time I think. I hope you're able to take it very easy for a while and get back onto an even keel. Wishing you a good week. CJ xx

  4. on the technical side - there are at least 2 ways to get pics from iphone to ipad. If you have email set up on both you can just email them to yourself as an attachment - send from the iphone and then open the email on ipad and even if they arent in your Inbox, you can look at yuour sent folder and they will be there.
Another way is to use airdrop. If you want me to explain how to use it let me know. Although I suppose these are a bit cumbersome if you are transferring loads of photos at once! In which case ignore me and yes use an adaptor of some kind!
I love love love the colours in your blanket. Do you mind me asking what yarn and shades they are ?

    1. Thanks for the info Jill, I think we may have sussed it out, although I'm not really sure how I did it! The yarn is Rowan All Seasons Chunky, it's a lovely soft cotton, very heavy though, very warm too :) xxx

  9. I don't know if it's useful but you could set up a free drop box cloud and send the photos there from your phone, then you can access them from anywhere else, either your computer or tablet, with the wifi on. I've just done this but have managed to fill it completely as I thought I would store my family photos there as a precaution! Maybe you already have this. Good luck with working, would be nice to see Florence! also good resting. X

  13. Dear Ada Bea - looking forward to those phots and please look after yourself! As you say, you know the signs - take note and act accordingly!

I have actually begun my square foot garden now and there are loads of seeds sown so I'm looking forward to see what transpires!

Loving your crochet - haven't done any for such a long time, I did enjoy it; perhaps I should do another granny........ but making wool cushions takes priority at the moment. Good luck with the photos and keep safe and rested! Lxxxx

  18. Hello Bea, goodness, I'm sorry to hear the fatigue has hit you. It's best to rest though. WHat you've built there is rather impressive and I ADORE this corrugated look - is it a raised bed? How brilliant.

Sheesh, the beautiful muted colours of your blanket have soothed my eyes this morning. x

  19. I love the blanket too! And that raised bed - we need one like that for the new garden.
I know what you mean about little signs from loved ones. The butterfly visiting you has made you feel comforted and that's good. Our lives have been turned upside down lately but I keep spotting little clumps of violets growing (my mum's favourite flower) and it's made me smile.
Hope you have a restful weekend.

  21. I use Dropbox to transfer photos from my phone to my laptop - it's free and very easy to use. But it looks like you got it sorted. I love the look of that blanket; I've always been drawn to the colours you chose and like them more and more. I hope your balance has improved and that you feel better today. xx
