In Situ...

Well, my latest blanket is in situ down in my studio...ready to keep my warm on colder days. I must day it's very soft and warm, I'm going to be very toasty down there. I've got my new project lined up, it was going to be another Sunbust blanket but I won't have enough wool, so I will have to think again.

The first week of February is zipping by. I'm slowly beginning to emerge from my bug induced hibernation, a little bit of time with friends has been enjoyed this week, and it will continue over the weekend too.

There's some good news on the garden plans too. After some discussion with Mr Landscape Man, we've come up with a bit of a plan, I've had to compromise a lot (used to that one!) but I will get my steps after all. We were hoping to get the lower part of our garden levelled and chipped, but it's just too expensive, so maybe that will get done another time.

Over the last week I've had a few slips down the hill, a combination of wet weather and little paws have made the bank pretty slippy. Luckily it's meant nothing more than a muddy backside, and a racing heart, but it's made me realise just how important those steps and path are. Well if I want to be avoiding accident and emergency that is!

Has anyone any tips on pet smells? Otto can be a bit stinky, he gets a bath every week or so, but I don't want to bath him too often as I'm sure it's not good for his coat and skin. Can anyone reccommend a natural way to control his doggy odour? Thank you!

Have a great weekend folks,

Amanda :) xxx

  2. Good Morning Amanda, I love your cosy blanket and the colours are fabulous. I have returned to crocheting after a 25 year absence... a long time isn't it, but I discovered quilting and that took over. I remember a lot, but as with all things, there are a few things I have forgotten, so I am on a learning curve.
Could you tell me how you crocheted your blanket together. It looks like a crochet chord, but I'm not sure how you achieved it. I would love to know as I love the raised effect. If you have five minutes to spare would you mind popping over to Ivy, Phyllis and Me! to let me know.
    Much appreciated.
    Best Wishes
    Daphne

  8. Those steps sound like a necessity, not a nice to have so if you can I think you need to go for them, even if there are other things to be done another time. Your blanket is fabulous!!! I love it!!! xx

  9. Do be careful in your garden. I had a spectacular banana skin fall on mud on Christmas Eve. It happened so fast I fortunately didn't have time to stick out an arm to save myself. Cracked my head against the kerbside and amazingly didn't have a broken bone and very little bruising. Considering I am on Warfarin that was amazing! However, as a result I am paranoid about falling, being ultra careful on slopes and stairs.

    1. Hi Linda, yes it can make you feel quite vulnerable, I don't go anywhere new by myself anymore, I even only walk Otto nearby my house. Continues falls, even the thought of them, as an unseen consequence. Glad you are ok, take care :) xxx

  11. Lovely blanket. Looking forward to seeing the garden improvements.
I think it might be worthwhile speaking to your vet. We have a small dog and don't have to bath her very often, usually only as the result of rolling in something unpleasant! If the odour is that bad that you're bathing almost weekly and it's still not enough then maybe there's something going on. Maybe a change of food or something equally simple might be the answer.

  12. Love the blanket! You can buy deodorant sprays designed for dogs to keep the smells at bay between baths as well as dry dog shampoo.

And your Minnie, I had forgotten that you also have a Minnie, it is the nickname we use for Mrs Black, as her first name is Minerva. Be careful, very slippy in gardens just now. x
