A Picture A Day...26

Right here, this moment, picture today completely unrelated, but that doesn't matter ;)

Feeling...grateful for the calming space I have created, outside my back door. I need calm. Today has ahead of it, new experiences and facing phobias, not mine, but I need to the one to offer calm, to be strong.
Smelling...lavender, there's a pot of it, just where I sit for my morning coffee. Helping with the calm.
Contemplating...our future, there's restructuring, and possible redundancies at my husbands workplace. I try not to contemplate for too long. I like calm too much.
Hoping...that I manage to ease anxieties today, that I stay calm. On a purely selfish note, for my beautiful greenhouse, it's been put on hold because of the above. I'm sure a greenhouse would help with being calm ;)
Tasting...fresh, strong coffee.
Planning...how I'm going to manage the next few hours in front of me, and next years improvements to the garden. Planning crop rotation, dwarf fruit trees, and a small wildflower meadow. Being a woman, I can multi-plan ;) some of my best planning occurs whilst drinking my morning coffee.
Touching...I love the feel of the cool breeze on my face, it's much cooler here today, coolness helps with achieving calm.
Listening...to the birds, the slight hum of the morning traffic, and for once, because Otto is still sleeping, I'm not hearing him barking at the magpies!

Now, calm absorbed, time to be strong. Hope your Tuesday's a good one,

Amanda :) xxx

  1. Keep your chin up Amanda. I too am a worrier. Unfortunately we can not do anything worrying before hand and have to deal with what comes when it does. Amazing the strength we have when we have to. Take care.

  3. Yes, the cooler, fresher air is perfect for calm. You seem to have all the right things around you for coping ... birdsong, lavender, coffee! and not forgetting Otto. On calm days you can gain strength, do hope it's good for you today. Tell your husband this old saying: Today is the tomorrow I worried about yesterday ... and it didn't happen. I wish him and you good luck. Love Paddi X

  4. There's a lot of unseen support wrapped around everything I think, as well as the support we create for ourselves. It sounds like your doing everything you can to draw strength and hold space for it all and others! like we do...take care, I bet it will actually be fine, however it lands :-) X

  7. I hope whatever it was, it went well and wasn't as bad as you imagined it could be.

It isn't selfish to think of your greenhouse, you know what it takes to create calmness for yourself to support someone else, not selfish at all.

I hope your husband has positive news for his future.

    Keep well.

    1. It's had highs and lows but we've survived and one of my family has flourished, brilliant! The greenhouse feels selfish at the moment, hopefully I will earn it, eventually! ;) xxx

  8. I...liked to read this nice post...with calm...thank you...I needed it...my day of housekeeper, was very full of housekeeping today. Worse than other days. Temperatures are quite high here and I feel tired and every muscle, and every bone, is a pain for me. But...I had a little rest reading (calmly)this post!

  10. Interesting post and I hope all goes well for your husband if that is what he wants. Sometimes change does us good, my daughters was a hairdresser for 30 years and because the landlord put the rent up a lot her and her partner decided to sell up and work over the airport and she has never looked back. I find has I have got older I do not worry about things quite so much but I do find it very, very hard to relax completely. Your greenhouse will come when you least expect it.
Enjoy the day and your crochet blanket is very colorful.

  12. not sure how I missed your post yesterday but catching up now, sorry to read DH is concerned re his job and hope all goes well and he is not made redundant, calm is good to feel, I have lavender growing in the garden, maybe I should pick some for the house. Beware re dwarf fruit trees, I bought some but the plum and cherry did not realise they were not meant to grow! also the pear it was replaced as it died but the new one never grew or ever had a pear on it. The apple did nothing for 6 years but last autumn I moved it and this year it is full of apples and a couple of weeks ago it had more blossom too!! Never seen an apple tree with apples and blossom at the same time

    1. fingers crossed if it does happen he will be able to get another job, he's in his 50s which can be a bit trickier, also with no qualifications, we will see, what will be will be! I think if you get fruit trees on M25 or M26 root stock they will stay small...I will do more research beforehand though :) xxx
