Me Time.......

I love my children very, very much, but half way through the holiday and I was feeling desperate for some me time! So off I popped into Nottingham to one of my favourite Vintage Emporiums, Hopkinson. I went only a few weeks ago, but this bark cloth kept calling me back!

It's just beautiful, looks much better in real life. Most of my fabric, as you know is very flowery and pretty, but I just fell in love with this! Not sure if it's because of the Olympics or the Jubilee, but I felt drawn to something very British. I'm not sure why I didn't buy it first time around but I'm glad it was still there!

Hopkinson is set in a great old building just across the road from the train station. It's full of little individual stalls selling all manner of vintage goodies from clothes to knick knacks to furniture. Heaven! Want to have a peek?

I love Bero Men, I used to have a baking set when I was a child, sadly it did nothing for my baking ability!

I brought a couple more goodies while I was there, some floral chintz and Feedsack. I think I am just a Fabric Addict!

When we got back of our Norfolk holiday, I also had a lovely parcel waiting for me from the lovely Rachel at Rainbow Vintage Home....

I did a wallpaper and fabric swap with her....she's now responsible for a new addiction of mine.....vintage childrens' prints....Rachel, stop it! I'm already in enough trouble!!!! But Thank You, they are beautiful!

I found this beauty in my local charity shop, a duvet cover in pristine condition! At a bargain price.....skipped home!

That's all for now...I've been given another award, which I will post about later in the week. That's 3 awards, I've never been so lucky, quick I'd better get a Lotto ticket!!

If you haven't already entered my giveaway, please do, details on my previous post, not worked out yet how to link to posts in my own blog!

Welcome to my new followers.....hope you enjoy the ride!

Ada :) x

  1. Lots of lovely things there, I'm rather jealous of your proximity to it.
I believe that duvet cover at the bottom is from M&S, I made a little post about the print here: http://52weeksof.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/nostalgic-floral.html

  7. Loving all the eye candy. Tell you what though I wonder what our parents think of all the nostalgia for those "old" things. Being of a certain age, I remember them from the first time around, but fashion is a funny thing and good design will always shine on. If only I had kept all my old sheets....who knew?

  8. My youngest son has bedroom curtains in that same barkcloth! I love it, though I must admit the colours look more vibrant on your piece. I wish we had a vintage shop near here but I think Mr RV is pleased we don't - apparently I have too much 'stuff' already, would you believe!

  16. Ooh I have that solider fabric. My Mum-In-Law gave it to me - it was my hubby's childhood bedroom curtains. I made a cushion cover and a drawstring bag and sold them and still have a heap of fabric left. I love it too.

I also have that purple floral sheeting..isn't it fab!!

Such lovely things in this post - muchissimo eye candy. :)

  19. Hello Ada
I lurve those moustaches - how it cheers up a day to see a magnificent mouchoir (wish I have always felt should be the French for moustache even though it is not!!). I was in our local supermarket recently and asked a young assistant for his assistance (!) - he had his back to me....when he turned around he revealed that he was sporting the most magnificent mouchoir - waxed curly ends and the whole caboodle! I congratulated him heartily on his facial hair and asked where I could find the Weetabix!
A lovely selection of fabricos Ada. Are you actively collecting as I come across sheets pretty often. I have a stock that we use on the beds (!)but would buy them if you wanted them. There were two sets still in their packaging for £4 a while back...oh dear...I did not buy them because the house is bulging at the seams as it is and I felt it might be the sheet that breaks the shelf's back!!
    Have a sunny day!

    1. When my husband was younger he had long hair and from the back he sometimes got mistaken for a girl, I think he quite liked it when they became embarrassed! Naughty!
Thank you for thinking about me with the fabric, I've had to give myself a Stern Talking Too! No more fabric until I'm earning some money, it was fine when I was in employment but now I need to be more careful! I woner how long that will last!!! Ada ;)

  22. I forgot to say how to link to your own posts.
I'm not sure if this is the best way because I'm a computer numpty, but it works for me.
When you're writing your post and you get to the bit where you want to link, open another tab with your blog and go to the post you want to link. Left click on the bar at the top where it says vintagesheetaddict.blogspot etc. (I forget what that bar's called but where a website address goes). That will highlight it, then right click and select 'copy'.
Go back to the post you're writing and highlight the words where you want the link to be (like 'my giveaway') and click on 'link' which is next to the photo adding button at the top. A little box comes up, and where the cursor is flashing just right click there and click 'paste'. You can test the link to see if it's worked and then click OK.

That's probably as clear as mud but if you get stuck let me know.

I don't know if it is really necessary to open up a new tab to get the original post, but I'm scared I would lose the one I was writing if I went off it!

    1. Thank you so much....I will give it a go, I use blogsy to post, I'm scared stiff of all this technology, I'm sure I must emit some can of electricity when I go near a computer as they always seem to stop working! Must be a bit like how dogs smell fear on someone, well that's my theory! Ada :)

what a great day out you had...I'm steering clear for as long as I can on the vintage fabric front because I have SO MUCH fabric already, but you certainly found yourself a haul. Great post!
