Crochet Plans.....

Have I told you that I really want to learn to crochet? I'm sure I've mentioned it, in passing! Well I thought, before I start, I might just need to get a few things ready, a couple of hooks....and of course some yarn!

I love the word yarn, wool really, but I shall use the word yarn! Can you just imagine my delight at the sight of all that lovely yarn, oh dear, I might just develop a new addiction!

Anyway, I digress! Of course if I'm going to buy yarn (love that word!), I need somewhere to put it!

So this is where my little stool comes in handy! I can just see me, sat in chair, hook in hand, lovely yarn with my feet popped up on this little beauty! I hear you all laughing, not at my positive thinking (I will learn to crochet, I will learn to crochet, I will....) but that I will fit all the lovely yarn into such I small space! You know me so well, but I promise not to go mad, I'll only get just a few balls!

The interior isn't looking too good at the moment, I'm thinking of lining her with wallpaper or perhaps some of these pages, there's also purple and green, just the right shades, but I'm not sure about cutting it up! also I'm not sure wether to paint the legs or not, what do you think?

The lovely Kelly has sent me these wonderful owl mittens this week as well as some other little goodies. Thank you so much Kelly, they really brightened up my day, I'm wearing the gloves now, it's freezing here! I'm wearing the little brooch too, and the little heart has gone on the tree I made!

I've also had a little parcel from Sharon of Modflowers, she's in Australia visiting her family and has asked me to do some Guest Blogs for her! Thank you Sharon! The little spotty tin, silver tree and cross stitch are just some of the lovely gifts from Jackie, as part of my Advent Swap, thank you Jackie!

Well I've been busy stitching and making but can't show you anything because they are all pressies and have been sent to the North Pole!

Thanks for all your support on my last post, it is really appreciated! Welcome to those who have just found me, I will try very hard to visit your blogs soon!
Have a lovely rest of the week Everyone, I'm really loving reading all about your Christmas preparations!

  7. Those owl mittens are gorgeous, did I see them on the cover of mollie makes recently? I want to make them. That stool will come in very handy - i keep my crochet and knitting stuff in an old suitcase I won on ebay and renovated - it makes me happy every time I use it. x

  16. Love your yarn storage stool. I have a wonderful basket for all my yarn but it does allow dust in so this is much more practical. I think I would paint the legs white myself. I am crocheting a star garland right now and love how portable crochet is- I have done some at playgroup and some at swimming lessons and knocked over finishing a cushion while having a glucose tolerance test at the pathology lab! mel x

  18. Your little stool is so pretty. I love the bobble trim round the edge. I think bobble trims should be put EVERYWHERE. Tables, beds, clothes, christmas trees, you name it! The legs would look cute painted.

  21. DEFINITELY line your stool with those pages, and definitely paint the legs! I am inspired to cover a somewhat similar stool (not as nice) that has come to me & I hate to part with - thanks!

  22. not sure about your legs, when I saw the stool I thought how beautiful but maybe they need to be a colour to match one of the fabric colours. Crochet is good but I do struggle with the instructions!! maybe try some needle tatting as well that is also nice to do and both are great when on a bus journey as they take up so little room in the bag enjoy.

  23. love the stool... how did you cover it? Was it with a staple gun? It looks wonderful; I would paint the legs or maybe sand the legs to achieve a paler wood, but that is just my opinion. If I lived near you I would happily teach you to crochet, hope you take to it like a duck to water!

    2. I agree with MeMeRose. Painted and then sand the edges a bit. Very vintage-shabby.

  24. Hi Ada! I love what you've done with the help of the two new Misters in your house! I think the dark legs really pop! with the turquoise blues! If you painted them in white or a colour from the fabric, they would still look nice, but they would blend in more (matter of your personal preference there). Either way the bench is beautiful and I'll thank you to send it my way should you find you don't like crochet!! (Ha Ha!) You're right, the inside is a bit bleak and needs your special touch there too. Glad to hear your busy with making pressies ... the best kind to receive! I've finally got my tree assembled this morning (fake), and now am on to the lights (which I thoroughly dread). And my living room has darkened considerably with the monstrous tree dead centre of the window ... maybe I'll rearrange the furniture and tuck it into a corner ... more work! Take care Ada :) Wendy

  28. It's a very pretty stool and yes I'd paint the legs.

Another wanna' be crocheter here, good luck, I shall follow with interest :D

By the way, yarn is only wool if it's spun from wool, cotton etc. yarns are definitely yarn ... just saying ;)
