I Woke Up This Morning, And I Needed To Make Something.....So I Did!

More importantly.....I needed to FINISH something! I have WIP's in every corner of my home. I'm a Creative Butterfly, never settling for too long on something....always looking for the next flower! Whilst this is exciting, it can get a bit exhausting....sometimes you just need to settle somewhere, finish what you started, don't you think?!

Now, shall I make another cushion? Bag perhaps?

Out came the rotary cutter ( I don't break out in a sweat at the sight of it anymore!) chop, chop.....beautiful sheets, making my heart skip a beat!

Slowly but surely my new blanket emerged! Clarice still has tension issues, so don't look too closely, the stitches aren't the best!

Happy, happy, happy......

I've backed her in this lovely yellow sheet I picked up on Saturday, in fact I used a few new sheets.....I really must talk to you about my sheets, maybe next time!

She might go on my bed, but for now she can live in the conservatory, I'm going to snuggle under her.....it's a tad nippy her at the moment, I do hope that the beautiful weather we had at the Bank Holiday wasn't our summer!

There, another bit on my quest for a colourful, happy home!

The binding is truly awful.....I was getting a bit impatient to finish (that's the butterfly again!) so didn't measure, just used, well guess work, not a good idea!
I might stitch around the edge with some embroidery thread....then again I might not....I might make it look worse! Oh well, I like it and that's all that matters really, isn't it!

I will show you my other treasures, I've not forgotten just got swept up in a sea of vintage sheets, as you do!

I've added some bigger bits in my Esty shop, some 1/2 yard pieces of the sheets below, if anyone's interested!

Thanks, as always for you lovely, funny, supportive comments. I usually respond to any questions back here on my blog, I just find it easier that way. I hope you don't think I'm rude if I don't email you back...it just seems to take me ages that way!

I'm off now, need to put Clarice to bed, and clear up no end of threads, it looks like there's been an explosion in a vintage sheet factory here.....how lovely!!!

Until next time!

Ada :) xxx

  1. Well that is a very impressive day's work. It looks great from where I am sitting. Did you put wadding in your quilt?

    1. No wadding, Clarice won't cope with that at the moment, it's surprising heavy, so will definitely be warm enough for summer use! :) x

I have no idea what I'm doing - but I'm up for having a go! And I'm not allowed to buy any more until I make something with what I have ;)

  20. You whipped up that little beauty in one day? You are amazing and it is gorgeous. You can't go wrong with a vintage sheet blanket. I'm thinking of making another one but in a brick pattern stylee. I'm a bit scared of binding though so well done you on yours. Xx

  22. Wow, that is one very beautiful throw, I LOVE!! I love your new yellow fabric in there too, it goes so well. I can't believe you whipped that up, I am suitably impressed my dear!! You put it so beautifully, this fluttering around with a million and one projects, I share this butterfly buzz, such joy and frustration at never finishing things, so well done you for getting this DONE. xo

  24. Your quilt is lovely! Mine is still half finished, I have another quilts worth of squares cut plus some for a barkcloth quilt but I am having sewing machine issues too. I think it may terminal - so frustrating to have so many (too many) WIPs and more crafty ideas in my head that I can't get on with! I haven't even thought about how to bind my quilts. Can't wait for you to share your vintage sheet collection - I thought we had seen a lot, just how many have you got?! Mrs RV x

  25. Why is the binding bad?
I use the crazy mom quilts tute, pretty much a standard method.
Hand finishing always gives a nice result, and some say is the best part x

  28. I do love this quilt and well done you as I have many vintage sheets in the airing cupboard and they should be out and proud in some hand-crafted form and not hidden away. Looks good in the conservatory but would look equally gorgeous in the bedroom. I must learn to quilt this year! x
