And On A Lighter Note......

Thank you all so, so much for your comments on yesterday's post. I read each one and felt overwhelmed by your understanding and support. I spent a long time weighing up whether to publish them.

However, I pushed those thoughts to one side, you've spent your time and emotion leaving me those comments and it felt wrong not too. The post was purely to raise awareness, which I'm told it did! Good, I'm really pleased!

I was surprised that there were so many comments about my parenting style. I do my best as a parent but I'm no better, or worse, that the majority of you reading this. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I get it wrong! My daughter brings me so much, has taught me so much. Not only do I love her deeply, but also admire her greatly. She's braver than most of us!

Anyway.....on a lighter note! Spot the canary?! Well this photo is for Nina and Margan, I'm always a bit (well a lot!) envious of the wonderful wildlife shots they manage to take. When this little beauty landed in my garden I quickly grabbed my camera! Sadly she will have escaped through an open window....I do hope she got back home.

As you know I'm just getting my head around my camera, these two ladies take some wonderful shots, have a nosey on their blogs if you get a chance. Butterflies, birds, squirrels, have always gone by the time I'm ready.....I did manage a lily beetle though!

They look lovely but are the death of lilies!

Anyway, moving on.....I'm not being very creative indoors at the moment, I've been enjoying spending time in the garden.....

Treated myself to a magazine, very indulgent....I really didn't need it but I did buy it using my supermarket points! I love a bit of Coast, sat in the sun!

Planted up the area behind my morning bench, this should look wonderful next year! Bit bare now though!

FINALLY planted up my pots, some with flowers others with chillies and peppers!

Enjoying watching the veg patch grow, and seeds germinate. They are very late, and I'm hoping they catch up!

Just watching the boarders filling up and doing their thing!

Perhaps I ought to do a little bit of crochet, bit more of my hexie blanket. I hate being inside once the weather warms up, I love the outdoors!

Oh and a couple of charity shop finds.....

Well I did say I'd only get another if it was in a charity shop!

And yet another suitcase!!! This one has keys, I could keep my treasure in this one! We are still enjoying the typewritter.....we keep leaving little messages for each other on it!

Welcome to my new readers, and thank you all for being here! Oh also, I'm sorry I know I still have some parcels to send off....I'm being a bit useless at the moment, I need to chop up some of my sheets which takes a bit of time, and requires being inside! And also Sam (Betsy Makes) I'm still reading your blog Sweetheart, but aren't able to leave any comments!

I'm not sure when I'll be back again, as I don't seem to be making much at the moment......

Bye, if the sun shines, try and get out in it!!!

Ada :) xxx

  1. Your garden is ahead of mine, Ada - no lilies here yet. Love your raised beds and the deep blue of that pot mmmmmm! And that shot of the lily beetle (though point taken re his undesirable habits!) is brilliant. You can see why the cochineal beetle became popular, can't you?? (naughty naughty!)

  2. You got him! I often look at Nina's wildlife photos and wish I could be as quick to capture some of the cute little birds around here....by the time I fiddle with the camera, they've either gone or there is a blur of orange and brown left on the screen.....your garden is looking lovely too! 3. Great beetle photo - but I'm hoping I don't see any in my garden! Although that's probably wishful thinking!
Happy gardening - and sitting on your bench enjoying it. Danger of frostbite again here!

  4. What a beautiful birdy. Sad to think she's lost, someone will be missing her. For me, I am missing the sun today. Where has it gone? Enjoy your mag, a well deserved treat.

  10. Your last post slipped past me, but I've gone back to read it. You have such a lot on your plate Ada. Sometimes it's hard to wonder how we can get through difficult times. You seem to abound in love and caring for your family, and I think those are the secret ingredients in life. This was such a wonderful way to express how your daughter experiences a typical day. She's very lucky to have you for a mom who can see beyond the frustrating outbursts to what lies in her heart. It takes a very special person to raise any child, but your daughter couldn't ask for any better. I can tell that beautiful yard gets a lot of enjoyment during a rough day ... here's to sunshine and some smooth sailing through the summer months. Wendy xox (PS your photos are stunning!)

  11. I bought almost exactly the same suitcase at a boot fair last weekend for 50p - keys and all! Same colour, but a different make.

  12. That was perfect timing for snapping that very lovely canary, lets hope it got back safe. I am sitting here slightly drooling over the campervan on the front cover of Coast.....how I wish that was mine! Your garden looks so lovely and your new bed looks like it will be beautiful soon (well next year and thereafter). I am always so impatient and want mine to come into itself so much sooner than it does. You have a proper little haven there my dear. So sweet that you are leaving each other messages, love it. One very lucky find and for a steal! P.S thanks for sharing your previous post as it has made me spend some time looking into it, so job done well!! xoxo

  14. so good to read you had lots of support with your last post, all we can do is try our bet Ada and you certainly do that.
Trust the canary found its way home as it will not survive in the wild.
Your garden is a picture, have never seen a red beetle before,I do not have lillies so maybe they go else where.

  18. Your photos of the canary and lily beetle are fantastic. The lily beetles move so fast too! I hope you enjoyed Coast magazine I have had it for years. It is what inspired me to appreciate more the coast on my doorstep and spend more time beside the sea!

I will have a look at the settings to see if I can change any to make things better. BTW I LOve LOve your crochet - the colours are gorgeous, and your garden looks great too.
