Crochet Bubble....

I'm in my own little crochet bubble.....

It's a really lovely place to be......

Lots of colour, no matter what combination I use, they still turn out beautiful!

Little piles of loveliness, reminding me of Connect 4 counters!

Turning circles to squares, of various sizes.....still working on the tension!!!

I've never been great at maths, but sometimes the ability to count to 16 eludes me......

But I'm not too concerned, I think Granny Squares can be very forgiving.....

Next babies to nurture....they will have to wait a little while.

Thinking I'd made loads, I decided I place them together, surely half a blanket has been made by now.....

Whoops, not quite, long way to go yet! Better pace myself! I don't want the bubble to burst just yet, but there's other things to do! (I forgot to put Little Bea to bed the other night, she was quite pleased, Eldest Bea reprimanded me on my slack parenting skills!)

So my Lovelies, that's progress so far....I'm going to sew them together in squares of 4, now do I 'block' them as individuals first or can I sew them together, then 'block' them? Advice welcomed for this novice crochet blocker!

Thanks to everyone who's entered my giveaway, it's still open........and welcome to new readers, I'm a bit bonkers but quite harmless!!!

Thanks to everyone who's brought from my little Etsy shop too, I've now been able to indulge in a little more yarn shopping, a great little online sale, can't wait to share!!!

Bye for now,

Ada :) xxx

I have the same obsession at the moment - I'm on holiday and half my case was yarn! :). Lots of crochet in the sun.

  11. Look at you go!!! Fabulous, juicy colours! I don't bother blocking til I'm all done, but hey - you should block just one set so you can envisage how gorgeous it will all be when it's done, then just get on with it! Cx

  16. Looks gorgeous, the more random and wild the colour combinations the more interesting and beautiful it looks. I think my mum only blocked my crochet bedspread at the end once everything was joined together.

  18. I've been blocking my squares as I've gone along as they look much nicer all flat and even, it's helped me continue knowing how nice they should look at the end! Did I enter the giveaway? I did mean to x

  20. Ada, all I saw was a meadow of gorgeous florals and colours when I saw your first photograph of your beautifully crafted crochet babies :o) Clever you, stay in that bubble is what I say. I have done blocking of individual squares before joining and then after I have joined and I have to say the painful blocking before joining worked out best. I'm sure it will be lovely whatever you choose to do xox I've got my hook ready for packing for when we go to Barcelona in early August, shh don't tell my husband he hee xox Penny

  23. such a variety of crochet circles and squares. have you seen the book beyond the square crochet motifs by Edie Eckman, it has 144 circles, hexagons, triangles, squares and other unexpected shapes in it. I have done some but have to remember it is American so need to convert sc to dc etc. There will be no stopping you with all you can do if you are interested

  26. Very pretty!

I should say yes to blocking each but I've never done that and my blankets are ok...

I suppose it would even out the difference in tension if you block using a ruler to a more average size?

    Anyway, they're lovely.

  27. Hello Ada
how lovely they are!!! It seems a shame to join them together as piled like that they look gorgeous.
as for blocking I think if you block them individually the sizes may become irregular and cause problems when joining together. I'm not sure I would even block it. What size blanket are you making? Are you using all wool or acrylic yarn?

    keep well

    Amanda :-)

  30. Your blanket squares look so happy and swirly! I block projects at the end (but that's knitting). I would think if there are some squares that are really out of whack with the rest, you could block to stretch or shrink the individual square so that it will fit better when you stitch them all up. Otherwise, the thought of blocking all those little squares individually seems a bit daunting. Have a great end to your week Ada! Wendy x

  31. Ada, I just want to say that you are a wonderful person! There is such an air of lightness and joy in this blog of yours which surely must reflect your general attitude in life.

Your crochet squares are indeed a vision of beauty!

  32. oh my goodness, have I come to the right place!! how fantastic, your making a blanket! They are really gorgeous. They're not all trebles are they? hope you share the pattern one day! They have a puff that's really nice. You could still join as you go into the ones you have already made. I'm not sure as a blanket they would need blocking. Nice tourquoise! Heather x

Ada Bea, could you enter me, please and thank you! to your lovely give away....The materials look kinda sweet for a pretty dress for my new 'Waltzing Matilda' dollies dress...Much to warm to be gallivanting in a knitted pink little number! hehe!
