Vintage Delights.....

Well Hello Everyone.....I feel like I've been on a whirlwind of little holiday jaunts, and I've not finished yet, as the girls and myself are off again on Monday!
This jaunt is just a one night break, with one of my best friends and her daughter. A one night stay in a caravan, not vintage but the girls are very excited as they've never stayed in one before! This little break is all about the girls- so its funfairs, ice cream, and the beach if weather allows!
We are off to Skegness, on the Lincolnshire coast, not quite as I remember anymore, but I'm sure the girls will love it! As a child I never went on holiday with my parents but each year we went on the local pubs day trip, usually to Skegness or Mablethorpe!
We would all be so excited, not able to sleep the night before, the whole village would turn out! Each child got a free packet of crisps, bottle of pop and a one pound note!
So my holiday memories are snapshots of these exciting days with my Mum and sister, the sun always shone, we stuffed ourselves silly, played on the sand, then fell asleep on the way back!
Anyway, back to the delights of Dorset and Devon.....well lets just say, if I lived there I'd be bankrupt in no time.....gosh such Vintage Delights!
We went to Bridport to Girls Own Store, full of lovely things! I restrained myself but still walked away with a couple of crocheted coat hangers!

Lots of charity shops....a fantastic vintage quarter packed full of retro stuff, like I said, I'd be bankrupt!
I did however spy some baskets from the 1940s and 50s, well the crochet HAS to be stored somewhere!
My blanket is growing, slowly but surely!
And I got this little shelf unit from Ruby Rockcake in Lyme...I've wanted one for about 2 years, threw caution to the wind....holidays have that affect!
I LOVE IT!!!
I've been rearranging...playing with stuff, I love rearranging!
There are some great artists in Lyme, and we indulged in two paintings by Edna Dorrington. She was in the gallery whilst we were there, I was picking up her paintings getting a little excited, as you do, when she popped her head around the corner!

I couldn't decide so brought both...one of the Cobb and one of an allotment, my friend is going to frame them for me. I was struck by the colours.
I met two very lovely ladies whilst in Lyme.....
Caroline who runs Ruby Rockcake, was very welcoming, such a friendly person...if you ever find yourself in Lyme, pop in....lots of delights in that little shop!!!
And I met the super Mrs Vanilla Squirrel, we chatted away in the sunshine, we've lots in common and it's always good to meet Bloggy friends...
Especially when they bring gifts....she's lovely Mrs VS! Thank you!!!
So I returned from my holidays with lots of brilliant memories...and vintage goodies!
We had a great time catching up with relatives in Wales, one wet day, one sunny day! I will share a few photos next time!
We are big National Trust fans in the Bea household, we've been to a couple of stunning houses lately so I'll share them too, when we're back from Skegness!
Hope you are all having a great weekend, welcome to all new readers, nice to have you here!
Be back middle of next week....Etsy shop opening then too, lots of vintage sheet bundles! I'm on Instagram too.....adabea1.... As if I haven't enough addictions.......
Bye For Now!
Ada :) xxx

  12. Oh amazing finds Ada. I'd love to go to Dorset and Devon, they are on my wishlist of places to visit. I like your childhood memory of a packet of crisps, pop and a one pound note - that's fantastic. I always remember getting those individual Kelloggs packets of cereal on caravan holidays - they were a real luxury item back then! x

Enjoy your trip to Skegness. I always think that the Lincolnshire Wolds which are nearby, are a hidden gem. Never been to Skeggy, but it's still very popular with people in my part of the world.

  23. can see you have had a great time, love the painting you have bought, such a fantastic artist, must check her out on the web. The shelving looks so so useful, would be good for my patchwork fabrics, would be good to see what i have at a glance instead of having i stored in boxes. Never been to Skegness, the east coast is not known to me, must remedy that as I can get a free bus to Whitby, Scarborough etc takes 3 hours but one day! Further north than Skeggy but I am in Leeds so will have to go where the bus goes
