I'm Sooooooo Glad.......

I stumbled across Very Talented Ladies, with their hook and yarn......

That I decided to Give It A Go.......

That I picked up the hook, picked up my yarn, and even though it took me WEEKS to learn how to hold the darn things, I'm sooooo glad I did....

It's such a challenge for me, it doesn't come easy to my left handed, dyslexic ways......

But I kept thinking about those Colour Possibilities, and with time and patience, I'm starting to learn......

I have been inspired by some Very Talented Ladies, they are all there, on my Blog List, I've been encouraged and supported by You, you've given me advice when I've needed it! Thank you!

If you want to learn, if you're feeling you'll NEVER get it, don't give up....get yourself a little space, buy a hook and some yarn. be patient, it will take you a few weeks to learn how to hold them!
Get a book, a friend, look on U-tube, there's some fantastic tutorials out there......

This time last year, I saw your crochet snowflakes, I soooo wanted to make one, this year I WILL make some, and these lovely little Christmas trees too, from The Royal Sisters Blog (sorry links not working at the moment!)

Yep, soooooo glad I am learning to crochet, wonder what I will be doing with my hook and yarn next year!

Hello to those who are new here, and thank you so much to those of you leaving me your thoughts, they mean such a lot too me.

Have a lovely, lovely weekend!

Bye for now,

Ada :) xxx

Updated: just changed the title to put the correct spelling in.....what did I say about being dyslexic! :) x

  5. I stumbled across your blog only last week, and this post sums me up right at the moment. Last week I bought a 'How to Crchet' book, a hook, and some red yarn. I am you-tubing away whilst attempting to get this crochet hook to do what I want it to do. I will get there, I will, your blog gives me the inspiration I need. Thank you x

  7. Love your new blog header and so pleased that you join us hooky bunch. Even though I am pretty much still a newby (2 years and a month to the day today), it feels like its been in my blood all my life. Love your pretty tree. After my first couple of months, I stumbled across a pretty crochet star pattern online and made a lovely garland for the house, so I am sure you will love having your snowflakes hung up this year for Christmas. Happy hooking lovely xoxo

  16. It really gets under your skin, doesn't it? I wonder when you'll start referring to events in life as being BC (before crochet)?!! Your stitches are so beautifully neat, it's hard to believe you've not been doing it for years.

Thanks so much for your kind comment on my latest post.

  23. It is so cool to read about your crochet journey. I am in a similar place myself, after watching my mother and mother in law produce beautiful things for years and feeling frustrated i couldn't do it, i took the plunge and battled on, inspired by what people like Lucy at Attic 24 were doing. I've now finished 2 blankets and am in a place where i can find patterns which are relaxing and not stressful! Not to say that there isn't still much to learn and patterns that challenge. Am about to start working on a "Greengate" blanket like the one over at Hopscotch Lane but i love your white blanket so much, i might have to tackle one of these shortly! Alex

  25. So glad you stuck to it and found such satisfaction in your creations! I'm the same, but with knitting ... don't think I want to learn to crochet after struggling with the knitting ... one challenge for now is quite enough!! Love the crochet goodness in all your photos ;) Wendy

  29. That first blanket is looking totally fab. I'm so jealous and feeling a little pathetic with the amount I've finished compared to all you've done just this summer alone!!

  30. You have learnt so much in such a short time. I agree though. It is the initial holding that is tricky. Once you have it there's no stopping. Unfortunately it is way too hot here to crochet at the moment so my fingernails are bitten to the quick. Best get back to it asap!

  31. I am so glad you did Ada....pick up the hook that is and learn to crochet!!! I delight in hearing someone I know has learnt to crochet....the message has been received and we must not break the chain but learn crochet and teach or motivate another! It goes without saying because I can see it with mine own eyes that you were meant to hold a hook ..... what beautiful makes!!! I never thought that being dyslexic could affect a would be crocheter so I wonder if that is why my grand-daughter finds it so difficult as she is dyslexic.. I have dyscalculia but it is hasn't affected my crochet skills. I don't hold the crochet hook in the traditional way I adapted it to my own and I get the same results....so :-)

Many thanks for your kind comments on my latest post :-)

    keep crocheting

    Amanda :-)

  32. You have made so much progress so quickly, love that little tree. I have just picked up the hook again recently now that I am sitting around with a dodgy leg, funny I always seem to end up crocheting in high summer like a crazy woman. mel x

  33. What a coincidence - I decided earlier this week to make an advent garland of stars and trees - and had found the same pattern. :)
Hope you had a good time with your sister. It's always good to catch up - and support each other. x
