Stuff.....

This week I've been feeling a little overwhelmed by Stuff.....My Stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I love My Stuff, those delicious vintage sheets, the wonderful colourful rolls of wallpaper, the utility china, my yarn stash.....

But this week, it's felt like its been hemming me in, stopping me from breathing.....so I've been sorting, rearranging, c-l-e-a-r-i-n-g......my hostess trolley has gone, to a good home, to someone who will revamp her!

And my wallpapers are, for now, in my baskets where they can shine!

It feels like there's a bit more space in here now, I will reduce my vintage sheet stash this week too, bundles will arrive in my shop soon!
My sewing machine is sat there, very redundant at the moment....and I'm wondering, am I someone who sews? I'm not sure. I need to create and make, but I'm not sure if I'm someone who sews. Or is it that I just haven't the space in my head to sew at the moment, anyway she'll stay there for now, but I'm not sure......

My craft cupboard is next, it needs sorting, I no longer want to open its doors and have everything jump out on me! I want to inject some freshness, some colour into this little space.....I'd like this cupboard to be a lovely bright colour, with a vintage sheet curtain!
No news yet from the plumbers, decorating cant be done until the messy stuff is out the way! I'm itching to get Stuff done in here.....so I can move on.....make it fresh and new!

Yes, I'm looking forward to revamping this room.

As they say.....watch this space!!!

This weekend has been beautiful, really beautiful.....blue skies, warm and sunny.

We took the girls around out local reservoir yesterday, making the most of the sunshine. We're very lucky, where we live there are lovely walks, all within a few minutes of our front door!

I'm writing this today with a heavy heart. Although I don't know her, (only through her wonderful blog), I was so sad to read that the lovely Madelief, lost her husband yesterday. Life is so precious. Our time with those we love is so precious. I'm sure she is surrounded by lots of love and support, but if you can, please pop over, and offer her some of this great bloggy love xxx

Bye for now,

Ada :) xxx

  1. We've been clearing out too - so much stuff just congregates in our house! However, for all the clearing and de-cluttering, I seem to have black sacks everywhere now. it's not a good look!

  2. At least your 'stuff' is rainbow flavour...mine's just messy. I can't see much room for improvement in your space, it looks lovely... perhaps white wall just for the sake of change? Look forward to seeing what you do. xx

  9. Thanks for popping by. Decisions, decisions! There is something quite rhythmic and calming when crocheting a ripple blanket. :) x

  10. I do think that we crafters tend to stash all sorts of things. My crafting is also spilling over and I too need to declutter. Well done in taking the first step xx

  12. I understand how you feel about stuff. That space looks like it has tons of potential, though. I am sure you'll figure out a wonderful way to use it better. :)

  13. I can see exactly what you mean, I keep all my stuff in the box room and occassionally think I will have a tidy up and thin it out , usually find good excuses to keep everything but have now got rid of some dressmaking fabrics one of which I bought when in Australia in 1996! so sure not going to use it. I would be lost without the sewing machine, did wonder though about the embellishing machine a few months ago but glad I did not sell it, we all have far more than we will ever be able to use and if like me adding more fabrics, threads, wool, beads etc to the already large stash! And as for books, well I think I could open a book shop.

It looks like you are slowly getting this beautiful space ready for a new lease of life. Enjoy it, I always like this part of the 'game'. xoxo

  18. I know exactly how you feel. I often have a massive clear out, and I've stopped buying things unless I absolutely can't live without them! :)

  19. ~ I've just popped into Madelief 's blog and felt the shock and sadness and struggled with words....I couldn't believe she was going through all this and writing and leaving such beautiful comments all the while.....so incredibly sad and kinda makes you get life into perspective......Enjoy your lovely home, Ada Bea....! It's a place for resting and nesting and creating too... hugs Maria x

  20. Oh no, I know Madelief's blog well - I will pop over. So sorry to hear that!

The weather has been gorgeous, hasn't it?! I need a magic wand for a 'de-clutter fairy' to do her job. The tooth fairy was a forgetful one the other night, so I'm not sure how trustworthy the other fairies are :) xoL

  21. Oh Ada, I know how you feel about stuff. The same happens to me on a regular basis, the need to have less of it around me, to help me to breathe, so to speak. My solutions tends to be to go for less colourful things around me, as it the stuff disappears that way. Well, of course it doesn't, and after a while the need for more colour returns, as does the stuff. I have yet to find a way round this. Good luck with your sorting and clearing.

On a different note, I was most touched to read about your illness, and let me say I am most impressed by how you manage, and your ability to look at things from a bright side. Thank you for sharing.

  22. I need to sort out my sewing room to see what I need to keep or clear out. You have inspired me!

  23. It's good to have a good clear out - space is so important. I think I need to instigate a one in one out policy here, otherwise I am in danger of being over run by my stuff! xx
