Almost A Crochet Day.....

Well Hello!

I'm back from my fabulous little getaway, lots to share soon, but I felt the need to do these......I'm having a Crochet Day, well almost!
My Darling other half has done a brilliant job looking after the girls, but managing household chores, and childcare eludes him! So I've tidied and resumed order, and now for a little of this......

I'm loving this months edition of Homes and Antiques which I picked up last week, used my supermarket points, still being frugal! (Well sort of....perhaps I should of got bread and milk!)

This is my latest blanket, it was inspired by this one, over at A Tale From Toadstool House, which is adorable!

But now I'm not sure.....I'm getting the urge to pop a row of white around each square....what do you think?

Thank you to everyone who's entered the Yummy Yarn Giveaway.....there's still time as it doesn't close until Friday! I will announce the winner next week.

Hello to all those of you who have left comments, it's great to know you're 'out there'! I'll catch up with everyone soon....but just need to get this out of my system first!

Bye for now........back soon, with tales to tell!

Ada :) xxx

  1. I'm getting the urge to say 'Grey'...like 'my little red suitcase' ... I love the cosy rich colours for winter. xx

  2. No!! Don't do white - make this one different. I agree with Ethel grey would be better...but does it need the same coloured border for each one do you think? Doesn't matter though really what you choose it's going to look fab. Especially love those mellow Autumnal coloured squares. Wishing you a merry crochet day. X

  3. Pleased to hear that you had a good break away. I am also drooling over my homes and antiques, I love this magazine, every year I think I will stop my subscription, it when it comes to it, I'm just not ready to part with it just yet. Loving your pretty crochet, I wouldn't add white, maybe grey or sort of browny grey if that makes sense. Xoxo

  4. Good to see you back with us, and so busy again already. Perhaps a cream rather than white, though a nice autumn colour would be nice too, looking forward to seeing what you decide :) xx

  5. I agree with everyone's comments so far Ada, I think white is good for spring and summer, but natural greys or browns better for this time of the year :o) Lucky you having an almost crochet day xxx Penny

  10. Glad you had a good time away, nice to see you back! I think that a softer colour than white would go with the autumny colours you have here, grey could work as the others have already said, or what about an oaty sort of colour? You will make the right decision I'm sure. Looking forward to hearing about your time away. xx

  11. Such bright beautiful colours! I'd try grey around a few and perhaps a taupe or fawn shade around a few and see which suits the colours better...glad to have you back! Chrissie x

  13. Welcome back! I love the colourful blanket. I had a peek over at Toadstool's and think that you should not surround the squares in white. Their just so colourful up against each other, and I see that she added a few white squares to lighten it a bit. It's amazing! Whichever way you decide, it's going to be great ;) Wendy x

  14. hmm I think a warm neutral might be nice. Or you could be rad and use black. But saying that Annette from my rose valley has made a lovely blanket just with the bright colours and no edging colour. Anyway glad your sorting out the important things!! look forward to seeing what you do, Heather x

  15. I think gray too, but I've seen some with white which also looked good. I'm planning an eventual blanket of squares with gray myself.

  16. I don't think they need a border at all, just add a few whites into the mix you are making to create a bit more contrast- just like wendy said a few comments back, that seems to be the main difference between yours and hers. Glad to hear you had a good break away and that husbands are the same the world over! mel x

  18. Glad you had a good time. Love the grannie squares. I don't thin they need anything adding. They are a thing of beauty as they are. Jacqui x

  22. They are so lovely just colourful like that but white could be pretty too. I love the look of grannies but the joining did my head in last time on the big turquoise one.
You have given me a kickstart into trying some crochet though as I'm biting all my nails off anticipating the next surgery and crocheting allows them to grow. Thanks!
