A Vintage Home!

Hello Everyone, I thought I might review this book I had for Christmas, Vintage Home by Sarah Moore.

Koralee has asked me what it's like, is it worth buying. There nothing more frustrating than buying a book, getting it home, then wishing you hadn't bothered! Books can be expensive, this one however was bought at The Works for £5.99.....I know this because I was helping Santa at the time!

I just LOVE this book, it really is a visual treat....well a tactile one too, the pages feel fabulous!

I love how Sarah uses Vintage Wallpaper in lots of her projects, a girl after my own heart!

I'm working on Mr Bea at the moment, I'd love to do this on our stairs. He has his practical head on, unfortunately.....one teenager, outbursts, foot stamping, bare stairs, noise......and I get it, really I do, but my stairs would look just amazing with all my retro wallpapers!!!

The colours and patterns in this book are heart stopping, truly beautiful!

My images really don't do it justice, I think there's a shine to them which takes the depth away.

There's lots of projects in here, practical tips too, inspirational....

And whilst Sarah's style is different from my own, I do love her choice of fabric and wallpaper, and the creative way she puts it all together.

So would I recommend this book?

Yes....definitely! (And no, I'm not being sponsored for this, all my own thoughts!) so Koralee, what do you think, like what you see? Hope this has helped!

I'm continuing with my quest for a colourful home.....boy is this colourful, not to everyone's taste I know, but I LOVE IT! Thankfully Mr Bea does too, I wonder what my girls reaction will be?!!

I had a couple of other books for my birthday too....will share them next week!

My posts may be a little hit and miss, depending on how much decorating is being done....and that will all depend on a new kitchen tap being fitted this Friday, oh the drama of it all!

Thank you, as always, for leaving your thoughts with me....I apologise I'm very amiss with replying to them, I will try and improve!

Bye for now,

Ada :) xxx

  2. Oh thank you for this review. I'm always on the look out for decent books with fabulous eye candy images! I love those stairs too and would love to rip out our manky stair carpet and do something similar. Surely if you varnish the papers (?) they'll be long lasting. Yes, there is the noise issue and what with heavy footed teenagers stonking up and down the stairs and slamming doors I know what your hubby means. Still......xx

  3. Lovely to catch up with your posts after my Christmas bloggy break. When we return to blighty I am definitely up for more colour in my life. Here it is hard to change much - we have what we brought which is very good for me and my acquisitive ways! Eleanor x

  4. All your new books look fab ~ I particularly like the look of the Vantastic one. I tend not to buy books very much as I work in a library and can normally get most titles that I want to look at from there. However, I do agree that it is nice to have a couple of favourites at home too. I love that you were helping Santa with your gifts ~ I do that too :O)x

  6. Thanks for sharing - always lovely to have a good peek inside! I adore those stairs too - we desperately need to replace the carpet on ours and I'd much prefer to paint them - but it would be too noisy - we live in a terrace and can hear our neighbours clattering up their stairs!!! Am loving the yellow. Good luck with all your decorating - can't wait to see the results xxx

  9. I loved that book too when I was helping little miss Santa make choices for me this Christmas Ada. I gave her a few to choose from and she chose Simple Crochet which I love too. I have a real overpowering desire to smell the pages of books in shops and Alice has declared this most embarrassing! Andy says it's a fetish I have ! Ha ha! This book smelt rather delicious if I remember correctly xox

  17. Thanks for sharing this review, I still have some Christmas money to spend! I love those stairs too - found them on pinterest a while ago (our stairs are already bare, and a bit noisy, so would only need a good scrub and some wallpaper...).

  18. Thanks for the review, it is good to know what others think of books, as you say, they are expensive! I like the stairs, and if you have the right home for them, I say go for it. Would some polyeurethane (not sure if that is spelt right!) varnish over the top of the paper make it more durable? Hope that you enjoy doing whatever you decide. xx

    1. Always here drinking coffee between nine and ten. Come and have a look at my dreadfully messy house and my hoard of vintage fabric treasure. Thank you for the lovely review too. My stairs were just left without any varnish and two years on they are fine.

  36. Love the wallpapered stairs. I'd love to paint or paper the stair risers one day, but am put off by the noise, and the potential hazard, what with little people who are clumsy and run up the stairs and play on them. That yellow cabinet is amazing! I love the colour. x
