Wonders will never cease......I've actually managed to make something! Started and finished. Now I'm sure some of you will have fainted at this point....I must be the only 'craft' blog, where the author never actually makes anything!
Little Bea was desperate for a moustache cushion, so this morning she chose her fabric, (she loves them there vintage sheets too)....I hope she likes it! This appliqué malarkey isn't as easy as it looks!
I'm really, really enjoying my new machine, she's a dream to use, I just need to learn to sew now!
I've just finished my quilt top, and I'm just wondering if I should buy a 'walking' foot for my machine. I've got my quilting pins, and I'm going to get some batting later today. Then I've got to be very brave and just get on with it! Gulp!
This week I went to Southwell in Nottinghamshire with my friend, we had a very pleasant time, drinking coffee and wondering around some very lovely shops! I love The Hen House which is just full of great home-wares....and met the lady behind Betsy's Button Shop.
A little purchase was made.....well it is almost Mother's Day!
Oh and I've a sparkly dressing table too.....I'm not sure what the purpose of dust is, but I'm always glad when it's gone!
I'm going to try and visit you over the weekend, sometimes blogger takes such a long time to connect me, it can take an age to visit you.
Thank you all so much for your comments on my last post, you are all so kind. I really do appreciate your visits here and the comments you leave even if I dont reply individually!
It's almost Friday.....hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Bye for now,
Ada :) xxx
So impressed with the speed at which you made your quilt top, and it looks fantastic too. Lovely cheering colour combinations.

You don't have to blog about craft!! Not that we don't love it when you do, because we do!!! I have no idea as to the purpose of dust, but if you ever find out please let me know!! Hope that you have fun with your quilting. xx
ReplyDeleteSouthall is great ...did you manage a trip to the workhouse?
ReplyDeleteHi Kate, not this time but we have been before, it's a fascinating but very sad place :) x
DeleteLovely cushion and the quilt top looks gorgeous. I recently machine quilted a quilt (before I just tie binded them - actually not sure that it's called that but never mind). I didn't use a quilt foot (just a load of pins to keep it in place). It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Go for it, xx
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt, and I want one of those wicker basket bags.....
ReplyDeleteYou do know applique is addictive don't you............
ReplyDeleteHi Josie.....I know, as if I need any more addictions!!! :) x

Cushion looks good, not sure what the interest is with moustaches but they seem very popular at the moment. ! You have done so well with the quilt, personally I have done very little quilting yet but when I tried without the walking foot I got nowhere, with it the fabric fed through so easily. They can be expensive, when mine was broken I looked into a new one £98 ( I have a bernina) but sent it back to where I bought it 20+ years ago and it came back £16,50, had seized up as I had never used it before like you I started quilting about 2 years ago
ReplyDeleteWell im impressed, you do not mess around.Your quilt is looking really good. You also managed to do a cute cushion as well, well done too you x
ReplyDeleteAda your quilt is going to be gorgeous! I love all those vintage sheets!

Good luck with your quilt, it can't fail to be lovely with those fabrics so don't worry about it just enjoy!

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt top and that cushion is fabulous. I have recently cleaned and oil my old sewing machine. I have not used it for over 20 years and honestly I am a bit frightened looking at your work just makes me want to have a go. thank you for inspiring me
ReplyDeleteMe again I have just visited your shop will you be stocking any of these delightful fabrics you have. they remind me of my parents and I would love to get my hands on some of it.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm going to try and put some in the shop in April, life's been so busy just lately I've not had any time! :) x
DeleteDefinitely buy yourself a walking foot and save yourself the frustration that will surely follow if you don't (trust me, I learned the hard way ... too impatient!). I just love the quilt top ... such an array of summery colours. The mustachio cushion is wonderful! How cute ;) I have the same problem of creating things lately, so you're not alone there. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sewing adventure! Wendy x
ReplyDeleteooh - fab cushion and love the quilt in progress!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I'm now thinking we need cushions with facial hair ... Mr K has always had a tash and a beard and assorted item with images of those things exist here, but no cushions.
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone ... mine is a blog where you're far more likely to see work in progress than a finished thing!
Love the fun cushion are wow that quilt top came together fast, it's look great
ReplyDeleteClare xx
What a fabulous cushion - so glad you are enjoying your new machine! I've heard lots about the wonders of walking feet - I must investigate too! And good work on your quilt - I'm in awe!!

ReplyDeleteThe Hen House looks fabulous, I wish it wasn't so far from me. :)
Super post! Love the dressing table and all its accoutrements. The pillow is fab!
ReplyDeleteI was loving your post and then I got to the bit about Southwell and nearly fell out of bed - my husband grew up in Southwell, such a beautiful picturesque town, he has many many happy memories of his childhood there :)
ReplyDeleteMy blog is over at emeraldcottage.blogspot.co.uk, it would be lovely to see you there :) And now I will read the rest of your post, I got so excited about the Southwelll thing I forgot to read the rest! Jillxo
Oh great pillow, bet she loved it!!! Looking forward to seeing your finished quilt :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt top Ada and the moustache cushion is great. A walking foot is a very helpful tool for quilting straight lines, almost a must. Just love all your vintage sheet fabrics and they really sing in the quilt. I have a small collection of 5 as they are not plentiful here in NZ. I hope to gather a few on my trip to UK in May/June. That's if you haven't got there ahead of me.xx hope you had a great weekend as I did, blessings, Trills.xx
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. If you only can buy one thing to help your quilting its the walking foot. Best piece of equipment ever and use it for the binding too. Love the vintage sheets very spring like Carol W ( I don't have a blog)
