Bye For Now.......

I would like to thank you all so much for visiting me here, for your support, for your friendship, and for the wonderful encouragement you've given me over the last two years. Being part of this community has been well just, inspirational. I've 'met' so many lovely people, and made connections with some extremely talented women.

It's YOU, that has inspired me to learn new skills......you Inspired me to learn to crochet, and I'm now trying my hand at quilting. I don't think I would have tried any of this, had it not been for you. The last couple of years have been very special, this space has been very special to me.

Recently, however, I've been feeling that perhaps I've reached the end of this little blog. I'm not sure I have anything more interesting to say.....and I really don't want this blog to become boring. I've always thought to myself, when I run out of things to say......well that will be the time to stop this blog.

I've thought long and hard about this, I know many of you love popping by, and I hate to let any of you down. I've discussed this with a fellow blogger, someone who's opinion I really value, and she urged me not to be too hasty, perhaps have a little break, and see how I feel later.

And so I've decided to have a break from Vintage Sheet Addict, for a little while at least, maybe for ever, I'm really not sure.......but I will let you know.

So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything you've meant to me, for everything you've given to me, and for all the inspiration........thank you, thank you, thank you.

Ada :) xxx

  5. I hope you do decide to continue but it's hard to remain dedicated to a blog. I stopped blogging this year as I too had run out of things to say, I'm not sure if I will start again but for the immediate future, it won't be happening. Enjoy your break from blogging and I hope to still see you on IG? Xx

  7. Dear Ada I hope it will be just a break!! I am never bored reading your posts. I understand how demanding blogging can be but I think it is a question of settling down to ones own personal way of blogging. The type of blogging you can cope with. I found this! I was getting too worried about not keeping my blog interesting and posting constantly! I've now settled down to I do what I can when I can. I posted about this and explained to my bloggy contacts. It seems to be working but at least I don't feel stressed nor have I given up as I was going to do. I do hope you return :-)
    keep well

  8. Does a person only have a finite amount of things to say? I don't think so. There is always a different take on the same thing, a different way to say it. Besides who remembers last year, if the same thing happened then? Our lives do have patterns, are cyclical, it doesn't render our repeated conversations as boring as they become appropriate again. I live ostensibly very similar days every day. Often I do the same things, but no day is the same because there are subtle differences or sometimes larger ones. Then how I think or feel about a day, changes everything. How do I know what I will tell someone about my day until I have had it?

You won't ever run out of things to say because communicating is what people do. So don't worry about that. However, it is understandable and is wholly your choice if you want or need a break from blogging. If though you enjoy it as much as you say and seem to, then why cut yourself off from that thing. Anyway, up to you.
    Take care.

  21. Hi Ada This is my first visit but very followed you on Instagram for many weeks. What made me pop over here today, I wonder. No idea!
But I have done, and I also have my own POV re blogging. When it all began, putting our own photos and stories onto a free Weblog was exciting and new. I had blogs for writing and for crafting. I've stopped and restarted a few times, always hoping to find my mojo for blogging during each rest time. I'm having one now, as it happens, brought on by ill - health. My point is this - maybe blogging is not the right medium any more. We have Instagram, Facebook, Google+, Twitter etc so our concentration span may have shortened.
No need to feel any guilt - just the freedom to be creative without accountability to our readers.
Just my thoughts - all the best. I'll see you on Instagram.

  22. Time to rest and recuperate.....it's only natural with all you have to do in your life. Please however seek help if you find your spirits are too low for too long my dear, you have given so much of yourself and you are important to your immediate family, so don't forget selfcare. Bye for now.

  25. Hey Ada, what a shock! But I understand. You have had a difficult year, take time out for yourself and your family. Hope to see you back, when you're ready. Best wishes to you x

  26. Instagram in no way replaces a blog. As for facebook etc. they are meaningless. Many people don't have access to smart phones either so instagram and twitter are not inclusive.

    ReplyDelete
  27. take care Ada, you need time to reflect and grieve and you know we will all be thinking of you and the family. I saw on instagram that you were shutting down for a rest. You will be missed by us all. Please come back one day to let us know how you are.

  32. Oh my, I am trying to find words to tell you to follow you heart, but what I really want to do is to shout DON'T GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My take on things is that it's tough to do both IG and Blog, one really has to choose which medium best fits your life at this time, and I think the simplicity and speed of IG simply suits you better right now. That's ok..... but you are wise to keep this precious space here with he door ajar in case you might feel the need to come back sometime, The wordiness might call you back, IG is so brief, like wee snatchers of conversation as you rush past someone in the street. Blogging is more like a sit down proper chat over a cuppa, and I think possibly you might wish to come back to that in the future (as Coco Rose did). Sending you a big hug, you are so well loved here in Blogland and will be missed xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  33. Dear Ada....I'm resting too...
    In blog land that is..
I am a thinking your blog perhaps was your souls search for reason and understanding whilst you journeyed with your dear Mama , on the hardest, cruelest journey of them all...
Take time away, time is that strange , sometimes familiar thing that you had a little more of before you became a carer.....Even with a young family...It's the strangest part of losing some one is the space and time that comes back to you..Maybe like me, you feel you want to find you again.. go for it.!!!..
    ( A new blog maybe ? )
I am still happy that I have your friend ship on IG...
...Be well , and take care..
It's your healing year , this one and those that follow here after...
Time has come back once more to you ! ~ As it did to me too..
    Hugs Maria x

  36. I'm so sorry to hear that Ada, but I completely understand your reasons. You've had a very stressful/upsetting year so it's only natural you want to step away from blogging if you're not feeling into it anymore. Do what's right for you. If you eventually want to return, then that's fantastic and I look forward to your colourful updates, if not then I wish you all the best for the future. It has been lovely (virtually) getting to know you, see glimpses of your colourful home and watch your crochet creativity blossom. Take care x

  37. So sad to hear you're not going to be blogging, I do love visiting your bright and cheery posts and seeing your lovely crochet and home, but I can understand the time might be right for a break.
I hope you have a good break from it all, and hopefully you'll be back sometime soon as we will all miss you Ada.
    Take care

  39. Sorry to see you go Ada, but I know when you're feeling like having a break it's the best thing to rather than going throught the motions with blogging. Wishing you all the best. will miss you on here and hope to see you back on in the future, you may not realise but your words and your blog are a very nice place to visit and you never know who you're inspiring xxx

  45. Dear Ada, I so hope this will be just a break and not a forever thing. I have enjoyed your blog so much. Yours was one of the first blogs I started following and I have always loved reading about what you are doing and your thoughts on different things. I understand when it seems to get in a rut and a break will cure that, I'm sure. Take your time and relax, but please, please come back to us.
    Hugs, Sharon

  47. This is the right decision.

  48. Dear Ada, I can completely relate to all that you've said here as I'm in the same fix myself. I just can't decide whether to stay or go. It seems we run through the seasons of a year a couple of times, and then what? I've shown my special decorations for the seasons, special places we go each year, and it starts to sound repetitive in my ears. Perhaps not to others, I'm not sure. I've also had loads of trouble with google and was unable to access my blog at all for the past month (or to leave comments anywhere), and none of that helped the situation. It's been wonderful reading along with you over the past couple of years, and to hear your story and see your vintage creations. But events in life can change your perspective on things too, and you've gone through some major upheavals. I WILL be sad not to see you in your cheery space, but you have to do what makes you happy. I wish you all the best in your decision, and hope that all goes well in your life as well. Big hugs to you, and lots of love, Wendy xox (ps having trouble getting this comments published, so sorry if it comes up twice!)

  51. Dear Ada, I am sad you are un-blogging yourself, as I love to read your posts and it has been lovely having a "virtual" friendship with you. Do pop by and read me now and again, and I hope all goes well with you. Perhaps after a break, something may just jog you not wanting to post again - as Annie says, we (at least some of us will still be here!) will be here waiting for you. God bless and look after you! xxx

  52. Take care Lovely Ada. Of course you must do whatever feels right to you. I drift in and out of blogging - not really quite sure what I think about it all at the moment - same goes for lots of things! Keep being kind to yourself - I remember it was long after my Mum's funeral and everything was "back to normal" of sorts, that I felt everything. We're so good at keeping going, but at some point we need to give in and rest and nurture - I think I'm still doing that now to be honest! Big hugs lovely lady xxxx

  53. I very much hope it's a break and not goodbye, but you must put yourself first. I do hope you come back, Ada!! But I can understand the need for space. Take care and be happy, whatever you decide, and we'll be here when you come back. x

  54. Oh I will miss your lovely space here.

  55. Hello Ada....I think you have to do what is right for you and if a break is what you need then so be it. You have a lovely blog here but at the end of the day, it's your blog and your decision what to do with it. I have enjoyed visiting you here but I am happy that I can still keep up with you on Instagram!

  57. I just found your blog (the title really intrigued me) and the first post I read is the 'goodbye' post!! But I had to write and tell you, the background to your blog - that was my bedspread and curtains back in the 70's! I have photos somewhere! I had white bedroom furniture too and I thought I was SO posh and hip!

  61. Oh thank goodness I'm friends with you Instagram! You must do what suits you of course dear Ada but I too would recommend you try a break before severing all ties. You never know … xx

  62. I miss you here, Ada! But I do also understand where you come from. Many a time have I felt the same... that I do not have anything more interesting to say (or show). That my blog has become a boring repetition of itself. Yet here I still am, eight years down the line... A four month break did me good a few years ago, so maybe that is what you too need to do. See how you feel after a while. But do know you are sorely missed.

I know you are still a part of IG and I am looking forward to keep following you there. Don't be to hard on yourself. You might or might not come back. You will be missed, that is for sure for sure.
