Hello........
It's been a busy week, apologies for not popping in here earlier to say Hi. This morning, when I walked through our conservatory to go outside, I noticed just how dusty and mouldy it had become over the winter.
So a bit of spring cleaning was needed.....and now I'm sat, drinking some coffee, enjoying the fruits of my labour! My books and crochet are to hand....comfy places to sit, radio to listen to. The birds are singing, the sun is trying to poke out from behind the clouds......must be spring!
I must say, I'm loving my new book, Keep It Simple, by Atlana Bartlett and Dave Coote. I do love their style.
My garden is progressing well, slowly but surely the weeds are diminishing and its making me feel good......
Mother's Day this year was tinged with some sadness, but I'm not going to live my life in constant mourning, so I picked her some flowers from my garden and counted myself lucky to have had her in my life....
Minnie's never been far away either......
She's been trying to master the art of camouflage, sadly she's missed the point!
Hope you all have a great week. I was going to go back in the garden, but I think I will enjoy my mould-free, dust-free space, just a tad little longer......

Your house look so fresh in your pics. Sorry you had a tough Mother's day, what a lovely idea to pick the flowers and also think on the time you had with her. I will have my first Father's Day without Dad this year, the firsts are so hard! I really do find the memories help, I have thought back a lot to my childhood and love visiting the places we went to as a family when I was young. Take care and enjoy the gardening, just don't over do it! Sharon xx
ReplyDeleteBless you Sharon, our lives go on.....they wouldn't want it any other way xxx
DeleteYeaahh, spring is really in the air here too .... many flowers are blooming away and the light is so warm. Have a lovely day !
ReplyDeleteThere's definately a waking up going on....just need it to warm up a little! ;) xxx
DeleteI love your posts. The colours in this one are lovely. Now, tll me, what is the dark blue SMEG on the wall by the cooker? I am intruiged.
ReplyDeleteIt's just the freezer door of our old Smeg......bit of wacky wall art! ;) xxx
DeleteHow clever! Such a lovely blue. I love blue!
DeleteIt's a gorgeous colour :) xxx
DeleteLove your house, love the vibrant colour against the white xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Cheryl :) xxx
DeleteSpring cleaning is so energising isn't it. I've turned out the odd cupboard here as well. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a compulsion at this time of year, wore me out mind you! ;) xxx
DeleteHappy Mother's Day to you, Amanda. I can imagine it wasn't easy for you, but I like the way you're approaching it. The house looks lovely, you did a nice job with your spring cleaning. Now relax and enjoy that interesting book. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer, that's just what I've been doing all afternoon! ;) xxx
DeleteYour photos are just lovely, I am committed to several days of sewing but now I want to dig out my vintage sheets and pillowcases and make things, for me. I remember you hanging the smeg door on the wall, great idea and a glorious burst of colour.
ReplyDeleteVintage sheets are such happy fabrics aren't they, I'm not sure what you're making, or for whom, but can't you just sneak in a little something just for you?! ;) xxx
DeleteWhat a lovely bit of spring cleaning! I knew Atlanta at art college, we both studied textiles in the same year. She left early, but I think she's done very well for herself! x
ReplyDeleteShe has! :) xxx
DeleteHi Ada! I've missed your lovely posts I've over the last next year. I hope that your health is good. Somebody hinted that you might be on Instagram so I set up an account and found you. You certainly are popping up some beautiful photos there. Your crochet blankets are stunning. You put me to shame.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read that your mam had passed on. I'm sure that she was also very lucky to have you as a daughter. .
Hello......glad you're back! Yes it's been a difficult year but I've got a lot of good things in my life so onwards and upwards! ;) xxx
DeleteWell it looks all smart and clean, like the look of that book too.
ReplyDeleteAmanda xx
Thanks Amanda, books great! :) xxx
DeleteThere's nothing more satisfying than a good clean, is there? I really like the look of that book too, thanks for the recommendation. x
ReplyDeleteThink you will like it Gillian.....especially with your new venture! ;) xxx
DeleteSpring cleaning is so satisfying ! I'm sure Mothers Day wasn't the easiest. Lots of "firsts" to overcome. Your posy next to your Mum's picture is perfect :)
ReplyDeleteJillxo
Thanks Jill, she always loved homegrown flowers the best :) xxx
DeleteEverything is so pretty, im so jealous =]

Thanks Marianne, the girls used to call it the playroom.....now it's all mine!!! ;) xxx
DeleteIt sounds lovely in your conservatory and I like your positive outlook about life and mourning. It sounds just right. The book looks good, dare I go and look at it! Also like your IG? wall and first aid box. Enjoy the day, it's sunny here X
ReplyDeleteIt's a great book Heather.....best not look! ;) xxx
DeleteYour house looks so fresh and neat. Sorry you had a difficult mothers' day X
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny :) xxx
DeleteHow lovely to have somewhere to sit and relax. I'll have to give that book a look.
ReplyDeleteJacqui x
Yes it's definately my little nest for the spring and summer! ;) xxx
DeleteYour home always looks so tidy and cosy. Spring cleaning is a new start I think, and a wonderful way to be busy and yet remember old ties with those we loved in past Springs. I love Atlana Bartlett and this book looks quite tempting ....
ReplyDeleteThank you LeeAnn, there nothing like a bit of sun for making you realise your windows are ditched! ;) xxx
ReplyDeleteHurrah for spring! Your conservatory looks lovely - bet it's a super lovely spot to sit at this time of year, with all that welcome sunshine. I was thinking of you on Mother's Day - it's still a toughie for me too - I couldn't handle the onslaught on IG that day, so I stayed well away from social media and sat with my happy memories. Big love, Z xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt's hard Zoe but it's the right order of things, my mum lived to a grand age.......more diFficult I think for those who loose their mums whilst they are still young. The conservatory gets the sun all day, lovely spot! :) xxx
DeleteLovely! Cheery and positive just in time for spring! I must get spring cleaning..... X
ReplyDeleteThank you Claire! :) xxx
Deletehow I love spring cleaning too (at any time of year!) - that lovely fresh smell everywhere is wonderful. I love your vintage style and was wondering what your adorable cat was called!
ReplyDeleteHer names Minnie, she adopted us a few years ago, her previous owner didn't treat her very well, she's a very pampered cat....although she can be quite feisty and likes to attack your feet but she's getting much better, I think she was possibly kicked when she was young, but she knows where she's loved! :) xxx
DeleteLoved seeing all the gorgeous pictures here! Everywhere looks so fresh and nicely spring cleaned! The book does look inspiring, I will put it on my list.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Helen xox
Thanks Helen, this really is my most favourite time of the year! :) xxx
DeleteI am also doing my Spring cleaning. Lovely photos, and Minnie is adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteI love her to bits Linda! :) xxx
DeleteEvery time I see your half fridge door on the wall I smile :)
ReplyDeleteYou sound tremendously organised ... I just found a pile of Christmas decorations I dumped in the spare room after Christmas and promptly forgot were there. I guess I'd better put them away, just as soon as I've drunk this coffee ;)
Oh yes Annie, that coffee.......can get in the way can't it!!! ;) xxx
