Flowers picked a few minutes ago from my garden.....my March Mantle, but only just, as tomorrow it's April!
Keeping things simple. My new mantra. The images aren't that great, but hopefully you can see the lovely light streaming through the windows, a gale blew last night and I'm so pleased the sun has come out now.
Come on spring, come on warmer temperatures.....we need you!
I'm making lots of garden plans. I've just ordered two large raised beds, and I'm looking at greenhouse options but the ones I like are expensive, typical! I want my garden to look beautiful as well as being productive.
I've always wanted a few chickens too, I'm not sure how chickens and cats get along though, so if anyone has any advice on keeping chickens, I'd love to hear it.
I managed a little crochet yesterday....first time in a while. It felt good.
Once again my head is full of ideas of things I'm wanting to do and achieve, plans rolling around in there, all good stuff, but things that take time, things that take energy. So it's one step at a time, it's as important to enjoy the journey, as it is the destination.
Hopefully back over the Easter weekend, I'd like to share some lovely links with you, things that's been inspiring me just lately! Hope you all have a great week.
Amanda :) xxx
She spends 80% of her time curled up on a crochet blanket, in my next life I'm going to be a cat......but only if my owner crochets ;) xxx
Such a pretty mantle so hard to believe it's nearly April, I know the, too many plans not enough energy thing only too well, the new blanket looks very pretty as does the cat. aww what a cutie.
ReplyDeleteClare xx
It's zipping by, just wish it would get a little warmer though Clare :) xxx
DeleteThe gale's still blowing here, although the sun has come out now. I like the sound of your garden plans, I do hope you're able to get a greenhouse, they're so useful. I'd love one one day, maybe when there are fewer boys and balls flying about the place! I'd love chickens as well, I shall pop back and see what useful tips people have to pass on. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteYes might be best to wait a while longer CJ, it's blowing a gale here too, I'm wanting to get in the garden but fearful I will be blown away! ;) xxx
DeleteLovely - I think the promise of Spring gets everyone itching to do things :)
ReplyDeleteCertainly gets the juices going! ;) xxx
DeleteI always said I'd like to come back as a cat - curling up and having a snooze in the sun seems a pretty good life!
ReplyDeleteGoodness that wind last night - it's still blowing a gale here now!
Enjoy your week. x
Minnie has an almost perfect existence! ;) xxx
DeleteStill blowing a gale here, whooshing down the chimney and shaking the house! Roll on Summer, I can't wait to be in the garden and feel the sun on me xx
ReplyDeleteSurely it's got to get warmer sooooooon! ;) xxx
DeleteI think that coming back as a cat to a house where there is crochet is a great idea!! I really like your little milk bottles with the flowers - just perfect for spring! xx
ReplyDeleteMy girls can't believe we had milk at school in them! :) xxx
DeleteAh crochet. It's becoming a daily event for me - I even bought a compendium of stitches the other day.
ReplyDeleteYour mantle has such soothing colours and those little hexagon pennants are LOVELY. Aren't hellebores cheering?
Hellebores are amazing aren't they, sadly they will only last a few days in the case and then I float them in a dish. Are you a new to crochet? :) xxx
DeleteSo pretty =]

Thank you! :) xxx
DeleteMorning Amanda, I love the colours in you crochet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison, I wasn't sure to start but I've fallen in love with it as times gone on! :) xxx
DeleteThose little books! Oh how they take me back! We had birds and dogs I think. In fact I think theyre still at my parents' house on their bookshelves.
ReplyDeleteI say it every time but I love the colours in your yellow turquoisey orangey crochet - do you mind me asking what yarn and what colours you are using ? They are so soft yet bright at the same time.
Love your flowers, wish my garden prodcued blooms like that!
Jillxo
Thanks Jill, the yarn is Rowan All Seasons Chunky.....hope that helps! :) xxx
DeleteOh just think you could have a green house and go and sit in it in breezy but sunny weather! and grow things too! X
ReplyDeleteI'd love one Heather, to still garden when it's cold and blowy would be brilliant! ;) xxx
DeleteCats always find the bestest places to sleep and dream of Meeces don't they? And who can blame her, such a pretty crochet blanket. I love your mantle and that little stack of nature books. We've got gales here too, sounds like a good time for a book by the fire and that seed catalogue. x
ReplyDeleteOh she can sniff out a crochet blanket a mile away, she will even pull one off the back of the chairs so she can curl up on it! ;) xxx
DeleteYour Mantle is wonderful, doesn't time fly. Your cat is so like my Ambrose. I have had chickens and my cats loved them. Ambrose use to go running to the henhouse when one of the chooks made that clucking noise before laying an egg. He would sit there till the hen came out. then he would wander off. Although, I am not he, loved the hens so much, but the mice that would come out in hopes of snazzling an egg! However the cats kept the rodents away. Oh Ambrose was already in residence before the hens and no problems they coexist perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to know Zana, she's a bit mischievous Minnie, she would spend ages watching our guinea pig for a chance to pounce! :) xxx
DeleteYour flowers look beautiful and I like the sound of your garden plans. Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed they don't just remain plans Natasha! ;) xxx
DeleteI love your March mantel, and where did March go? Lovely to hear about your garden plans Ada, glad you have some energy back too...
ReplyDeleteBestest as ever

Thanks Daisy, it's been good to get back out in the garden, I'm getting there, even if it is slowly.....just wish I could slow down the rate the weeds grow too! ;) xxx
DeleteYour March Mantle looks lovely, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan, I do lik to have as many spring flowers as possible at this time of year, and it's a bonuse these are from my garden! :) xxx
DeleteHi, I just spotted your comment about cats and chickens-we have both! I think it depends on the cat to be honest. We have two not very brave cats but one of them is very nosey and she wanted to have a good look at one of 'the girls' when we got our first lot of ex batt chickens. Sadly, the girl she chose to sniff wasn't impressed and went for her overly large Persian cat eyes. No harm was don't but it means that she developed a healthy respect for the chickens and generally stays away now. If you think about a farmyard, it will generally have a few chickens wandering around and usually at least one cat so they must be (usually) ok. Only you know what your cat is like which would help me to decide I think. If you want anymore info-not that I'm an expert but feel free to ask more xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information Cleo, my cats very inquisitive and likes a hunt so I'm not sure how she will be, if she gets pecked I think that might keep her away from them! ;) xxx
Deleteit certainly worked on ours although it was only ever going to be the one who tried, our boy is far too nervous. theres a couple of pictures on my page if you fancy a look x
DeleteThanks I will pop over :) xxx
