I'm not 100% sure about this one.......
Think it might be the lace.....(although it is genuine 70s!)
I had wanted to do something pretty......
Vintage sheets, lace, doilies, old battered suitcases....I had my ideas and plans.....
Though it might be one of those things that look better in situ, (under the bed where you can't see it!)...
Perhaps the buttons are overkill......but then I usually like overkill, maybe I've just lost my heart to my first love, and nothing else will do!
I am however doing something jazzy with the interior, well you've got to haven't you, when you have such a lovely collection of vintage wallpaper!!!
I am very happy today, despite my crafty disappointment, Mr Postman has just delivered this.....
From the lovely, and very talented Lady, Miss Beatrix, thank you! Who wouldn't have a smile on there face, when they have buttons with little balls of yarn and crochet hooks on them! Joy Oh, Joy!
Last chance to enter the giveaway I'm doing with Julia, thank you to everyone who's already entered, the winner will be picked tomorrow and we will let you know soon after!
Ada :) x
I think it looks good - the buttons and the doileys are great! I have a half-done mini suitcase, but I'm fed up because the underneath colour is showing through a bit and the glue has made some shiny patches on the cloth. It's been sitting for about six months waiting to be finished - maybe I could rescue it with doileys and buttons? Thanks for the inspiration!

Try using spray adhesive, it doesn't seem to leave any shine! :) x
DeleteAaah you're too hard on yourself...it's really pretty.
ReplyDeleteFabulous buttons too. And droolicious wallpaper. Wow.
I like it, but then I'm a fan of doilies! Great job xx
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely and I think the lace looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteM xxxx
oh its such fun! Enough to make you smile on a rainy day!

It's gorgeous - love the print!
ReplyDeleteI do like it!! And those adorable buttons, so cute. Groetjes, Gerda
ReplyDeleteI think it works, though I can understand your reservations...I think you just got it so perfect with your first suitcase makeover that nothing else will quite match up! Loving my new wallpapers from you, thanks so much - so glad you're doing well on Etsy! xx
ReplyDeleteGlad it arrived safely! :) x
DeleteIt's great Ada! How do you keep the fabric so smooth and neat? I thought it was papered when I first looked.
ReplyDeleteWell if you don't like it I'm sure someone will snap it up and... you'll just have to make another, shame!!
I got 4 cases at auction this week so that's my weekend taken care of.

I used spray adhesive! Bit tricky, I made a paper template for the bit around the locks, much better finish so I'd do that again next time! :) x
DeleteThe buttons and doileys are fine, but I am going to be that blunt and honest friend, you know the one who will just tell you when you have spinach in your teeth!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the lace on the edge.....just pops into twee territory....lol...unless oh I am sorry was that the look you were going for.........all said with great humor and jollity.....cos let's face it if you don't really like others may well do so....and I will stop now and chew on my foot a bit longer. :-)
The lace stayed on for about an hour after I took these photos! It will be replaced with some ric rac.....but unfortunately I've got to go to the haberdashery shop to get some, such hardship! :) x
DeleteI know! The agony of another trip to the shoppes. I have just spent money on a few more fat quarters after a scrummy lunch with the girls. Woman should never shop together after lunch....;-)
DeleteI think it looks fab. The buttons are definitely not overkill. They look really cute. I hope you're going to show us the inside once it's finished. Fiona x
ReplyDeletewell I think it is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteNikki x
i love the suitcase!nothing wring with going a bit crazy with embelishments!isnt miss beatrix lovely!i love her buttons.
ReplyDeletemezz x
I think that the problem is the white!!! Why don't you choose trims, doilies and buttons in blue???
ReplyDeleteAbout doilies : more randomly, than only two alone in the corners! Group them!!! Yeah!!!
a big hug, xxxx Ale
I did try that but thought it might be too much! Actually more might be good, sprinkled over the top, ill add the ric rac first though! :) x
DeleteYoure so brave cutting up those vintage sheets, I woul dbe too afraid of ruining mine. I only have three and they are ones I used to have on my bed in the seventies, so they are extra special to me, yet I would love to do something with them too!
ReplyDeleteYou must do something with them, unless you use them on your bed of course! Just make something small to start with, pin cushion.....work up to a quilt, they make lovely quilts! :) x
DeleteIt's yummy, I love the colour and you can never have enough bling whether it be lace or buttons or both. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteI love the case Ada, far too pretty to be hidden under the bed! Love those buttons too :) Love juliexxx
ReplyDeleteIt's looking good, but I think I would look fantastic with ric rac instead of the lace. The buttons are definitely not over the top, I think they're very subtle
ReplyDeleteThe buttons look better now the lace has gone! :) x
DeleteJust found your blog and am a new follower! I too love vintage sheets!! Love your yellow wallpaper!!
ReplyDeletechris
Thanks for popping in Chris, hope you will visit again! :) x
DeleteI love it Miss Ada!! So pretty!! Great job!! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteI like it but am not mad keen on the lace. I've just read that you're going to try ricrac instead and I think that'll work a treat. Do show us won't you! xx
ReplyDeleteThe lace came off pretty quick, yes I will show you! :) x
Delete~I think it's another bobby dazzler, Ada! Keep thinking spring time and enjoy your weekend....Love Maria x
ReplyDeleteAren't Miss Beatrix's buttons just fantastic. I really love them too. And your suitcase is just fab. I really love the blue. Please don't just hide it under the bed.
ReplyDeleteRosie
I really think the suitcase works well, and you know what I'm like for sticking doilies on everything. If you see a doily adorned dog cantering about...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for featuring my buttons, it makes me so happy when I know they have gone to a lovely home.
xx
