This moment......

This moment....in my home.

This moment....I am grateful.

This post has got me thinking.....thinking how grateful I am, with what I've got. Thank you Claire. Thought provoking words.

I love my home, it's cosy...(not upstairs at the moment, that's just messy until our bedrooms finished, but I'll just gloss over that!), its homely. When friends visit they say how relaxed they feel, how comfortable they feel.

It's brought and paid for, we've worked hard over many years to pay off our mortgage, gone without, made sacrifices. And I'm so glad we did, we would have lost our home. I didn't know my life would change.

I reached a crucial point in my life a few years ago, I had two choices. I could either feel sorry for myself, ask why me, and risk getting sucked in to a downward spiral. Or I could just 'get on with life' think positively. Just take things one day at a time. Be grateful for what I have.

I chose the latter. Not because I'm better than anyone else but simply because it seemed the easier option, the simpler one. Why waste your energy on negativity? Thinking why Me, why Us? Any energy I do have might as well be put to good use, don't you think?

So this moment I'm grateful, for my lovely colourful home. That I can go into my daughters' rooms and sit on their beds, and know how lucky I am to have them. I can go into our bedroom and look at my newly painted happy wardrobes, I will be soon be sleeping in vintage heaven! Stand in front of my lovely little cupboard and grin like a Cheshire Cat! (Thank you all for your great response!)

I am Oh So grateful, for my colourful vintage sheets and wallpapers, (I'm really enjoying chopping them up to make more wallpaper packs!...coming soon!)

Yes, this moment. It's a good one.

Hope your moments are good too! And if they aren't too good at the moment, I really hope you'll find some strength within you, to find a more positive place too be.

Ada :) xxx

When young, in the 80s, there was this motto on t-shirts : Think Pink!
I liked it since then and honestly pink is even a great colour, no?
Yes, be positive and then a lot of good things happen!!!

  10. Your words are so true. I've learnt over the years to stop wishing for things that I haven't got and just treasure what I have. As long as everyone is healthy, I'm happy!

    1. Cath Kidston, very expensive, the most expensive thing Mr Bea has ever brought me! To be honest I was a bit miffed he'd spent that much money but it makes me smile every time I switch it on, and the radio is on most of the time, so probably worth every penny! :) x

  14. Such fresh and pretty colours and a lovely photo patchwork.
It's great that your home makes you so happy, it shouldn't be under estimated. There is a really horrible article in the Daily Mail today sniping about Cath Kidston (I read it online), and your post is the perfect antidote to its negative emotions. I'm very glad I popped over to see you!

  17. Wonderful words Ada. I think we should all focus on what we have, and when we really think about it most of us have plenty to be grateful for. There are lots of people all over the world worse off than us, that would love to have the life that most of us have. We all have off days, weeks and months but on the whole a chat and a coffee with friends soon puts things into perspective. I've had a really bad week but still have my children, my health and a roof over our heads. Rowen@ Coastal Colours x

  25. I so agree Ada. We do need to be grateful and make the very most of all the good things in our lives otherwise what's the point!! i'm so grateful for my two beautiful kids and that i had them before my health got too bad, and for the good days that i have to let me get out and about with the kids or simply have the energy to sew my latest project. Right now i would be very grateful for some sleep!!! I went to bed early last night and gave up trying for sleep at 6.20am. Will you sing me a lullaby pls Ada? Id be ever so grateful!!!

  26. yes, the why-me is definitely a waste of (short supply) energy.
And life is certainly different than anticipated but its just a different path- albeit WHAT a path!

  27. You are so so spot on with this post. There are always the silver linings even when the skies are grey and gloomy. A mum at school texted me photos of my son singing and dancing on stage because she knew what a big deal this was for him and me and was kind enough to think of me at work and not want me to miss out, kindness is gold really. I LOVE all the colour in your pics, that cupboard practically made me pass out with hyperventilation and excitement. Gorgeous colour. mel x
