Perfect Days......

It's been the most perfect bank holiday here in my little patch of the world! Three glorious days, sunshine, warmth, being with my family.

(It's cold and rainy again today but we will gloss over that one!)

Most of the last few days have been spent outdoors....

In the garden, pottering, weeding, moving plants around....

Just a little at a time....then some of this....

I've eaten all my breakfasts sat here, as well as lots of well earned tea breaks! Still some planting to do behind it, but I've 'earmarked' them from around the garden so as soon as the sun shines again....

I love my garden but we haven't been in it all the time....

There's been walks in the woods, sadly no bluebells but some fantastic views!

These are overlooking Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire, we are lucky enough to live near some beautiful countryside. I'm getting the need for a seaside fix, but I'm not too sure that will happen this year.

Anyway back to the garden....remember my neglected veg patch?

Mr Bea, who hates all things garden related (unless its sitting in the sun, admiring the flowers, with a beer in his hand!), well he's been helping me fix that!

Actually when I say 'we' it's a bit of a royal We! He's done all the hard work.....but I've been a great supervisor!

The beds have been weeded and filled and I've sown some seeds, I've probably left it too late but never mind, we will see what grows! I've put some herbs in the middle bit, some brought from other areas in the garden, some given to me by my wonderful neighbour, and I was lucky enough to receive some garden vouchers too!
The slate will hopefully keep down the weeds! The area at the bottom will, I think, be a little fruit patch. I'm thinking raspberry canes and strawberries. I look forward to it all bursting into life.
I need to grow something up the fence too, it gets the sun on it all day, but as my garden is on a slope it can get very breezy too, any suggestions?

This is the view back up towards my conservatory, with my little 'greenhouse' which has now been cleaned and has lots of pots in it full of seeds! I really do love my garden!

And this morning I've been able to sort out my crafty space...

But I won't show you in the cupboard....it will frighten the living day lights out of you!

I know I said I'd show you my wallpaper makes but I just needed to share my garden, but I will do soon! We've got a busy week here, it's Little Beas birthday on Thursday and we are planning a trip out, then on Friday she's having a few friends over for a pizza and movie.

Welcome to those who are new here, I hope you will pop back! I always wonder who reads my blog!

Be back soon......

Ada :) xxx

Don't forget I've put lots of new Vintage Sheets in my Esty Shop, I've just got too many!

My wallpaper packs have also been reduced too! :) xxx

  3. great you have got the veg patch going, you can sit back and watch it happen now! I like the slate chippings around the edge! I still can't get to your etsy shop via bloglovin, I wonder if anyone else finds that? Heather x

  4. Your garden is looking so lovely and I bet its lovely sat on your bench admiring all your hard work. We too had a bit of a garden afternoon on sunday saving too many of my plants from slugs and snails, the monster's had been having right munchy time.

There is nothing like a lovely garden to relax in hard work but so worth it.

  5. We had a stay at home and pottering in the garden weekend. It was perfect! As you say back to rain now - although that makes my sons revision easier and me going back to work less difficult. Heating back on too!
Loving your veg patch and hoping you can sit and enjoy many cups of tea on your bench admiring your garden.
PS - How about some old fashioned rambling roses? My garden is very exposed, and they cope fine with the extremes - lots of small fragrant flowers, dark green leaves, and hips in the autumn. (Quite a lot of thorns though) Good luck x

  8. Ada I am VERY impressed with your raised beds - and so envious! I see you have some of the dreaded wispy grasses too - sorry, I can't for the life of me see the virtue of these, but we have them because Mr Jim likes them. I'm also loving your sewing room! Wow! I shall never ever post photos of mine again, how tidy are you!!! Lx

  12. Gardens are great - we just need to get some more dry weather so that we can enjoy them! Yours is lovely and I'm greeeeen with envy over your veg plots - you'll have such an exciting time watching what comes up. As for the climber - maybe just a simple but very generous clematis montana - they're tough as old boots! Jane x

  13. Oh Ada that garden of yours has my mouth open with admiration. You have some beautiful plants in there if my knowledge serves me right. I love what you have donw with your little bench space and I can't believe the transformation with the old veg patch. So you have one, we can compare notes.....errm well kinda, its WIP here (;D). I love your little sewing space and I am suitably impressed with how tidy it is! I have been after a cupbaord like that for so many years....Im feeling just a tad green here, LUSH! xo

  14. Beautiful, neat garden! I agree with Plain Jane, clematis Montana takes care of itself so you can concentrate on other parts of the garden. Or you could have a climbing rose, which develops slowly, and a honeysuckle, which would spread more quickly and be a nice partner to the rose. Will watch to see what you do! Chrissie x

  15. What a pretty garden and so neat and tidy. As is your sewing space I wish mine was as tidy and organised. I'm normally a real neat freak (it's the Virgo in me) but when I'm creating I'm so untidy. Can't wait to see how your garden continues to grow. Sarahx

  19. I love getting little peaks into other people's gardens! Your flower beds look so very lush and pretty. How nice for your Mr B to do the grunt work on the veggie beds. I had to ask for help with laying down some edging from my hubby, and I was surprised at how willingly he did it! I've injured my shoulder in the winter, and it's still no good for hard work. We had a lovely weekend too, but clouds & rain today. Your house looks very snug btw, and love that conservatory! Enjoy your day Ada! Wendy x

Your garden is coming along a treat Ada. Wishing little Bea a very special Spring Birthday, I really hope the sun shines for her.
I have a courtyard garden with pot plants, I really miss not having grass, whenever we go to a park or camping I'm the first with my shoes off and love feeling the lush grass between my toes xxx Enjoy your half term with your girlies x Penny

  24. Your garden is so pretty! Must be fabulous to sit out there and have breakfast - it's not really been warm enough down here for that -but we did get some glorious sunshine over the weekend and were out in the garden later in the day when the sun went over the house to the other side.

Good luck with the veggie patch! I really must plant some herbs too.

  33. Feeling a teensy bit jealous of your garden. It looks beautiful. Ours is getting better but there is so so much bare soil. Yours looks so lush and full. What are those blue flowers in the second picture? I saw some in a garden on Sunday as we went for a walk and remembered them from when I was growing up but can't remember their name. Your work area is looking lovely too. Fiona x
