And.........GO!

Well, last week was Ready, Steady..........this weeks it's definitely been GO!

It's GO! to new lights in the kitchen! I'm sooooo excited by this one! We thought a new ceiling would be needed, but No! Yay!!!!

After 2 years of limited light in the kitchen, I can finally see what I'm cooking, this however won't help the outcome of what I'm actually cooking, unfortunately!

(We are like a mix of 1970s sitcoms here, just think Butterflies, I can't cook, and Some Mothers Do Have Them, Mr Beas not a practical man!)

It's GO! To sorting out my ideas, new kitchen tiles and taps are needed first!

It's GO! To sending off little parcels of loveliness......before I close my shop for a little while!

It's GO! To starting my new crochet project, a Hexie pillow for my bedroom! Alas, I used the wrong size hook so it will be a little smaller!

It's GO! To making the most of outside, whilst the sun is still out!

It's, not GO! For a little cat who curled up on the sofa most of yesterday, well it was raining!

It's GO! To my Little Adventure! I'm excited/ nervous in equal measure. It means leaving my family for 4 whole days, I've never done this before! (It's difficult for any child to be apart from their parent, but when you've got an extra special child, who likes things to stay the same, this is a Big, Big, deal!)

And so I'm off, to a place I've always wanted to go, where my Mum wanted to go, but she never made it. So I'm going for me, but for her too.

It's GO! To Florence, Italy.......I'm soooooo excited! (Do you ever stop feeling guilty as a parent, if you put yourself first?) I need a little time to be Me again. Not just a Mum, a Wife, a Daughter watching her Mum disappear, a Number on a hospital file. I'm going to be Me. Me and two friends, having a little bit of fun!

These last few years have been dominated with changes, dealing with grief, dealing with loss, dealing with difference, realising that what you thought you had planned for your future, wasn't going to happen.

'In the storm she stood, and when the wind didn't blow her away, she adjusted' I read these words today. It felt like Me.

It's GO! To Fun, Fun, Fun!

Bye for now,

Ada :) xxx

(I will try and pop to see you to say Hi before I leave!)

I can sense your kitchen excitement I too am planning a revamp in a few months, I am using a secret pinterest board to sort the ideas. Do let me know how Florence was because I have some close who also wants to go and the mention of your Mum made me think. Have a wonderful time.

  7. Sweet Ada, your blog posts are always a delight to read, thank you for sharing your feelings and thoughts and happenings with us. I am so very very pleased that you will find some time to become YOU again. So important despite any guilt we feel as parents, just GO FOR IT. We deserve time away from all our responsibilities, a time to reconnect with ourselves and rejuvenate for the next chapter in our lives. Enjoy! x Penny

  8. Fab news Ada! Guilt does go hand in hand with motherhood for many of us but I strongly believe that you need to honour yourself too and THIS is such an exciting small chapter for you.

  19. My goodness if you keep up with all your gorgeous crochet you'll have to change your name to Crochet Addict - I'm so in awe of your productivity! And I smiled when I read about your trip - I had the same 'Me Time' weekend to Florence a few years ago! I was so nervous - excited but terrified to leave my little family - but let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic! I had a wonderful time remembering what it's like to be ME, not mum, not wife, just me, but I also felt so grateful for what I have back home, it really gave me a life boost! Enjoy!!! Chrissie x

  21. It is GO GO GO in you girl. I could need some of your energy. Love your new kitchen lights. How did you do that. Is it easy? I could need a bunch like that in my hallway and the roof is an inner roof in simple plywood which should make it very simple right? Any advice before you go?
Florence is lovely. You will have a great time. I understand your anxiety though. A friend of mine has a very special boy. She went to AMsterdam once for 3 days. When she came back he was a little bit like agrumpy cat, you know a little bit like "Hhhmmmmph! You left. Without me. And I am mad. A little bit hurt. Because you never leave me. But now you did. And I am not ready to swing my arms around you yet... Hmmmmph!" But it only took a day or two and all the love was back on track. It isn't easy but sometimes necessary. I'm with you and I hope this message doesn't make you more worried. If so I apologize for being clumsy and step into the dirt puddle... Lots of love. You got some fabulous stuff going on. I am inspired.

  40. I'm so excited for you! I've never been to Florence but I am sure it's an amazing city and you will have the best time.

It reminds me of something my dad always says: "We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust the sails." So true. Have a great week lovely Ada Bea. xx

  41. Oh Ada, have the MOST wonderful time. You absolutely deserve it and not a minute of mother guilt please. Our kids take a lot of energy to manage and steer and calm and teach and we too need to recharge our batteries. I love the way you right, you often sum up exactly how I feel but in the loveliest most positive way. My tip for Italy is eat gelati every day, take your camera and go nuts, we can't wait to follow along! mel x

  42. Better GO while the gettin's good!! I was in Florence last summer and I wish you could pack me away in your suitcase to revisit! SUCH an AMAZING, beautiful city!! The architecture, the art, the WINE (you do like wine don't you? ... we were told "there's always a water shortage here, so we excel in wine making"). I know you'll enjoy yourself immensely Ada ... Hugs to you for being brave and taking the time to enjoy life ;) Wendy xox

  51. Florence and new kitchen lights !!! Bloomin' heck! Have a lovely time - Florence (like Venice) is one of those very, very special places. When I was a student I once grandly caught a train to Florence as I had seen a handbag once before in the market near the train station.....is the market still there?
